Fine Patina- Museum Quality Condition: Very Good 10 1/2" height The Tairona ceramic chronologies range from 200 BCE to 1650 CE. And the Caribbean coast of Colombia has evidence of ceramics from at least 2500 BCE. Recent investigations in Chengue, Parque Tairona by the Colombian archaeologist Alejandro Dever show significant variations in the ceramic that allow for a chronological division of sequence into at least five phases. The first phase, called Nahuange 1, appears to start at around 200 BCE and ends at around 500 CE when there appears to be a peak in the population. A second phase spans from 500 CE to about 900 CE; it can be called Nehuange 2, and was called Buritaca after detailed ... moreexcavations by Jack Wynn in the 1970s. From c. 900 CE began what is commonly called the Tairona period, characterized by an impressive increase in the variation, size and number of ceramic forms, many conserving the styles from the Nehuange or Buritaca phases. And higher religious elite members wore these exquisite items. Created in repousse technique with crustaceans at either side of the ornament. The figural looks Aztec to our uneducated eye. Show age and mineral deposits. Date: Post Classic 900- 1521 CE. Dimenssions: Torso is 63mm long and 52mm wide. The head fragment is 44 mm by 36 mm. This ancient antiquity is a Chupícuaro head fragment from a Chupícuaro fertility effigy. I bought this in San Miguel. Mexico( located in the far eastern part of the state of Guanajuato) at an estate sale in the early 1970s when I was living there during the summer. There is also glue residue on the back as the fragment as it was once attached to a velvet backed display case. The head measures 1 9/16 x 1 9/16 x ½ inch depth. The head has typical Maya earplugs and unusual goggle like eyes. There are chips out of his left nostril. Right earplug and upper right headdress as illustrated in the photos. Stand not included. Chupícuaro(a pre-Horizon culture) fertility effigies were placed into the dirt by a Chupícuaro farmer during the planting season to appease the goods to insure a bountiful harvest. Subsequently. Vintage Antique American Family 25 Pound Platform Scale Green-Orig.

As you can see from the photos it is off about a 1/2 pound but it does register the weight of things. I wouldn't use it for your baking projects but it is a very cool item for your kitchen. Anasazi/Mimbres/Classic Period Geometric Bowl
A prime example of a Classic Period( Southern New Mexico/ca1000-1250A.D. Mimbres geometric bowl measuring 7 1/2" in diameter by 3 3/4" in height. Reassembled from original shards with the crack lines covered over. The design elements include black triangles. Triangles with fineline elements, wide line straight and zig-zag designs, fineline hatching, and a carefully drawn fineline band around the inner rim made up of four thin lines. The bowl is from a private collection and comes from a privately owned ranch and is legal for private ownership under all current state and federal laws. A COA will provided stating such.
