A handsome Solid Silver(925) Salt in the form of a Viking Longboat Made by Theodor Olsen Eftf of Bergen. His maker's Mark is Clearly Struck and would date the item at around 1925. The Longboat is 8.5cm long- dragon snout to snout- and is 4.5cm tall and 3cm wide. It weighs 34 grams in total. The Silver case weighs 17 grams. Decorated with five shields on either side. This rare trefoil brooch is a replica of 9th century Viking era artifact. It was exquisitely reproduced by the famous David Andersen of Norway company in early 1960s. Each arm is decorated in Borre style with a head of a"beastie" Brooches of this type. Originally adapted from Frankish sword fittings. Were popular adornments for Vikings, worn as a clothes fastener or cloak pin. The form of the trefoil brooch originated with Carolingian sword belt fittings. Huge Silver Bacchus Biker or Viking Pendant
Up for your consideration is this 1 7/8" long by 1 3/8" wide pendant that weighs 38.6 grams. My test for silver shows it to have less than 800 silver content. It's fantastically detailed and I tend to suspect it's supposed to depict the God of Wine(and other alcoholic beverages) Bacchus. I bought it at an antique store over twenty years ago and the seller could not tell me much about its history other than she bought it at an estate sale. Gorgeous David Andersen Norway sterling silver bangle bracelet- as I understand it. Part of the Viking Saga line. In my humble opinion, looking at prices realized on ebay, these bracelets are grossly undervalued and some of the last great'finds' in the Scandinavian jewelry category. The quality is as good as Jensen, the look, fantastic, and the'wearability' factor much higher than Andersen's enamel work which, though beautiful, must be treated with care as enamel shatters so easily. This is a bracelet you can throw on day or night, dress up or down- great with jeans or your designer black dress and it looks fabulous both alone and stacked high with other bangles. Quite hefty at about 35 or 36 grams. No condition problems to speak of, though it could use a bit of a polish. Ovoid in shape. N3 viking era SILVER cross christian pendant C11/12th RARE
A scarce form of Viking age pendant. This is silver and is an early Christian cross but decorated in Viking style. Condition is superb, the hanging loop is intact so you could wear it today. the reverse is plain whilst the front face is decorated with raised dots and lines in a slightly irregular pattern. I would date this at late c11th or early C12th, it is a fraction over 1 1/2 inches long. it was found in eastern Europe by a detectorist, it has had a light clean to remove soil encrustation but it has not been polished so has a very mellow patina to the surface.
