Superb Original Viking Silver Finger Ring Plaited Design Scandinavian c. 950 AD
On offer is this wonderful Viking finger ring. With the classic interwoven chain like design. The ring is made from baser silver, likely billion silver from Carolingian deniers, taken from raids. Unlikely to be from English coinage of the period, due to their superior silver content. Such rings were given out as pledges, acting as oath keepers or oath rings. The interlaced design was particularly fashionable with the Scandinavian Vikings and can be found in hoards in Sweden and Norway as well as in Scotland. This is a really nice and genuine example that can still be worn today! Extremely Rare David Andersen Sterling Silver Viking Saga Vintage Ring Norway
A 1960's vintage sterling silver ring from Norway's David Andersen Saga Series. Pieces from this series are becoming increasingly difficult to find. And in my opinion this particular ring is one of the nicest of the entire collection. Jewellery items from this series were designed as true scale replicas of museum pieces created by Viking craftsmen around 300 A.D. and discovered in ancient burial mounds. The inside band is fully hallmarked and reads David Andersen Norway Sterling.925 S(and in script) Copy orig. year 300 AD. It measures slightly under 1/2 inch wide and is currently a size 7.5. Although the wrap-around design does allow it to be re-sized to some degree.
