Tinned Copper Bowl Description The object is medium. Copper hammered to a shallow circular shape, with everted rim, and with a short vertical or flared base/foot. The copper bowl is 6 1/2"16.51 Centimeter diameter(at top) around the bowl and 3"7.62 Centimeter high. It has a large mouth and a smaller base. The exterior of the tinned copper bowl is engraved with a variety of abstract(geometric) motifs and roundels and multiple bands(and"lozenges' = dents) Because ... moreof the prevalence of geometric motifs it is perhaps not a figural bowl. There is no epigraphic/calligraphic decoration. The exterior/outer surface is decorated with incised motifs and hammer strikes. Main Decorations Outside surface: There are essentially 2 concentric bands of decoration. It is made from bras and very well decorated and while the exterior is shiny the interior shows the real age and patina please see pictures. The motifs on the bowl are typical for Safavid era. The bowl 13 inches in overall diameter and 6-1/2 inches tall while the mouth is 9-1/2 inches in diameter. Safavid: Shah ISMAIL II(984-985 AH/1576-1578) RARE Silver 2 shahi(4.65 g 21.5 mm) Struck at the mint of Dar al-Movahedin Qaz win قزوین. It is Album-2613 Short reign. The traditional shia kalima and the name of 12 imams on the reverse were replaced during this reign by a couplet, the tyrannical Ismail II was said to have loathed the idea that coins bearing the kalima would be touched by infidel hands. he didn't believe in Shia Islam(official religion of Government) therefore faced strong opposition from Royal court of safavid and removed from the throne.
