The fob is set with a rounded square piece of intaglio carved carnelian, in a rich deep red-orange that is beautifully translucent when held to the light. The carving depicts a helmeted Greco-Roman soldier in profile. The carving is wonderfully detailed and very skillfully done. The gold setting is sleek and handsome, with an ornate design around the edge. The fob is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no breaks and no repairs. This piece is not stamped. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold. The ... morefob measures about 1 1/4 inches from the loop at the top to the bottom. Flat bezel. The bezel measures 13mm X 10mm The center of the bezel has a nicely engraved LEGIONARY EAGLE. Now the actual Eagle design is one of the best that I have ever received to work on. Most of these rings have an engraved outline or picture of an Eagle but this example is an intaglio carved into the surface of the bezel to be used as a seal ring in wax to seal letters. We also can tell that it was made as a seal because if you look at the ring the eagle is facing in the opposite direction that most are shown. However. Presented is a fabulous antique 10 karat Gold Filled. Amber Glass fob/ charm/ pendant made during the late 19th century. This Victorian pendant features a very detailed intaglio carved glass with a classical Greek or Roman warrior design. Helmet& body armour of the warrior decorated with horse figures. This piece is in excellent overall condition. Especially for its age. There are some very tiny fleabite chips on the glass but this is hardly noticeable, you can see these only with really strong magnifying glass, on the pictures.
