The style, which was also very popular in earrings, is known as a“leech” style for obvious reasons(fat in the middle, narrowed at the ends, the shape does resemble a leech) As you can see(with some difficulty) the surface of the bracelet bears a fairly complex series of punch dot style decorative lines running parallel with the circumference on both sides of the bracelet. The bracelet is fairly large and would fit a lady of slim to medium build, or a man of very slender build, and with that caveat, is completely and eminently wearable. The bracelet is by and large intact. Though the trailing ends of each side were by the nature of the design quite thin and fairly fragile, and susceptible to loss through either breakage or corrosion. Both ends have been chipped off a bit, so rather than ends which nearly meet, or even overlap(common to the era) you have an opening much like a contemporary bracelet. The"bezel" or center part of this ring depicts a stylized starburst design(though it could be interpreted as a flower blossom as well) Starburst themes of one variety or another were a very popular geometric design during the first few centuries A.D. and the starburst design engraved into the surface of this bezel is done very nicely, and is of very uncommon character. It almost seems Celtic in character, somewhat abstract and stylized. To either side of the bezel are raised shoulders. Created by building up the band on either side of the bezel. It gives the ring a sculpted look, and is a very handsome touch. The heavy construction is of the more archaic style, characteristically made in two pieces; an incomplete ring(a“shank” with a separately crafted bezel which was brazed to the shank in order to assemble the ring.
