GJPaw Auctions is pleased to offer a fine antique Pre-Columbian ceramic blackware stirrup spout Vessel with Figure. From the Chimú culture. Peru. ... moreThe Chimú culture arose around 900 A.D. on the northern coast of Peru in a large adobe city in the Moche Valley. And was conquered by the Incas in 1470 AD. They are best known for their distinctive monochromatic pottery and fine metal work. The main types of Chimú ceramics are small sculptures, manufactured molded and shaped pottery for daily use and those made for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. The pottery is often in the shape of a creature. Or has a human figure sitting or standing on a cuboid bottle. The shiny black finish of most Chimú pottery was achieved by firing the pottery at high temperatures in a closed kiln, which prevented oxygen from reacting with the clay. This beautiful molded stirrup vessel measures 5 inches in width by 4 inches in depth by 7 inches in height(12.7 cm by 10.1 by 17.7 cm) The figure shows wear consistent with use and a Pre-Columbian dating. But generally is in very good condition. It is guaranteed authentic and would make a superb addition to any collection of Pre-Columbian ceramics. GJPaw Auctions has been in the Art business for over 25 years and is now expanding its operation to eBay. Our goal is to bring the same experience and excitement of collecting that we have been delivering in-person to collectors across the Globe at Primitive in Chicago. Every object we sell online has been carefully hand-selected with special attention to detail. Quality, and significance. We ship worldwide. Thought to be remnants of Mayan settlers who expanded into the area along the eastern gulf coast of Mexico, their known culture was influenced by neighboring societies, but remained the culturally dominant peoples in their region between 750-800 BCE. It is believed that the Huastec civilization occupied the northeastern gulf area of Mexico somewhere between 1100-900 BCE. This former museum piece. With visible museum markings, remains intact. But has of two chips on the bowl's rim. There is also a surface crack that runs from the rim edge halfway down the front surface of the bowl. There are no repairs to the bowl and is in"as found" Less the cleaning, ... morecondition. The bowl pictured here measures 6 inches in diameter and is 2-1/2 inches high. The bowl made of fired reddish/tan clay which quite stable. Considering the bowls age, its in very good condition. This is an authentic Pre-Columbian Huastec culture utilitarian bowl purchased at an auction in the late 1980s. The Huastec used native clays in the crafting of bowls. AUTHENTIC CHIMU STIRRUP VESSEL moche inca chavin nazca pre-Columbian pottery
This auction is for an authentic Chimu stirrup vessel from about 1400 AD. Measuring 5.5 inches wide x 8.5 inches tall. This vessel has a burnished surface and is in the form of two mated seabirds at rest with their bills laid aside one another. But with a slight gap between the two. It is truly a work of art. The vessel is in excellent condition without repair or restoration of any sort. The long bills would seem to function as levers multiplying any applied forces. But they appear to have survived intact. R&D documentation and a written lifetime guarantee of authenticity will be provided to the buyer. Item will be shipped by insured USPS priority mail to US locations only. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions and thanks for taking the time to look at my listing. If you take a look at p 48 of Proulx's book, A Sourcebook of Nazca Iconography, you will find a description of late phase Nazca items that fits the designs and finish on this canteen. However, the shape of the canteen is unlike other Nazca canteens I have seen. Xolotl, Pre-Columbian "The God Dog" Pottery from Colima, Mexico
Pre-Columbian Art Pottery- Xolotl- The God Dog" Pottery from Colima. Mexico This is a replica or reproduction of XOLOTL. The hairless dog bred as a table delicacy, as well as, one of the little animals that guided the dead on their underworld journey. 5 1/2" long x 3" wide x 4" tall(ear to paw) dark red/brown burnished mottled finish- carrying ear of corn in its mouth. A little history of the Ancient Colima Pottery Dogs of Colima Mexico. Although Mesoamerican cultures produced pottery in abundance Colima's redware ceramics are acknowledged for their singular quality and artistry. Their color varies from deep mahogany to pale orange and the burnished surface is often motttled with a patina of manganese oxide. Colima artists created a wide variety of objects but they are most celebrated for perros cebados. Squat. Rotund ... moredogs, with short legs and rounded bodies. The cobby shape may have signified fertility, properity or the fact that dogs were fattened for consumption. Many Colima dogs carry ears of corn in their mouths. Maize was a staple food of this region for thousands of years. Testing has revealed that it wasa mainstay of the ancient Mesoamerican canine diet- and dog meat provided an essential source of protein for human inhabitants. These enigmatic figures were produced in what is now Mexico from the 3rd Century B.C. Dogs were considered to be useful on one's inevitable journey to the underworld and were therefore placed with the deceased as trusty companions. Please feel free to ask questions before purchase. From a 1960s collection made in Mexico City. Not sure of the specific culture. This piece has white plaster or clay on the back from being mounted in some way in a previous coollectio. Not mine. All surfaces are worn smooth, no sharp edges. 4" tall, 2.5" wide.

Pre-Columbian native American pottery circa 1452 AD
You are viewing two pieces of pre-Columbian American pottery from the Belle Meade excavation site. Horseshoe Lake. We obtained them over 30 years ago from the Memphis collector who excavated them. Over several years he personally excavated and amassed an important collection of vessels and objects of all types which attracted wide interest from scholars and collectors. The earth in this area(north Mississippi, east Arkansas, northeast Louisiana) has a clay component to it which preserved artefacts for hundreds of years, and he was able to excavate small intact pieces as well as large urns with original polychrome colors in pristine condition. The bowl is a serving bowl measuring 7 inches by 2.5 inches high. With decorated rim(one small chip as shown) The vessel is a drinking vessel from a child's burial site, measuring 5 inches diameter ... moreby 4 inches high. They were identified as relics from the Qapaw tribe of the Chickasaw nation, circa 1452 AD. We would like both artefacts to go to the same collector and they are offered together for a starting price of $400. the pair plus shipping and insurance. Shipping charge is for continental US. And if you are outside this area, please provide your postal code so that we can quote shipping to you.
Pre Columbian Figure.....Artifact....Pottery......Fetish
I purchased this Pre-Columbian figure in Southern Mexico in 1969. I was told it was found in the Chiapas region. And was believed to be considerably more than 500 years old. It has been something I have never tired of seeing. I hope you. The buyer, will also have years of enjoyment from it! It is in a frame. Mounted on a black background. No Glass covering it. I can remove it from the framing if that is your preference. The color is more accurate in the first 4 photos. The last 2 were taken with a flash. Just under 3" tall and 1 3/4" wide. Extremely Rare Pre-Columbian Ceremonial Pipe and Vase - antique pottery
Extremely Rare Pre-Columbian Pottery Ceremonial Pipe and Vase- antique pottery It is my understanding that the two items were found during the original excavation of the Panama Canal. The vase is missing the head. Which I was told looked the same as the head on the pipe. I contacted Christies of New York about auctioning the items. As they do not have an auction category for these items, they have referred me to a specialist. As I don't have much in the way of patience, I am now offering these pieces on Ebay. Sotheby's also responded to these pieces, but since their auction estimate was under $5.000, they will not sell it. The pieces are about three inches square. Apiece. What they are worth is up to you! Happy Bidding! Aloha Joe

AUTHENTIC Lot PRE COLUMBIAN JALISCO Pottery Vase Bowl Platter Mexico NO RESERVE
I purchased a large lot of pottery in a high-end auction. And these three pieces of Pre-Columbian pottery were included in it. A very old auction label on the bottom of one of the pieces identifies these as Jalisco. The vase in this lot has red painted details and is 4.5 inches tall. With an opening at the top of 3.5 inches in diameter. It is a beautiful piece but does have a chip on the top rim, which is shown in photos. There are also two very old labels on the bottom, which can be removed by the buyer if desired. The small bowl here is 4.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. It has beautiful firing marks. Although it too has chips, shown in photos. The large platter/bowl is 9.5 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. Again. Nice firing marks and overall a great looking piece. I am not a collector of this specific type of pottery. So please ... moreemail me if you have any questions I have not answered here. I am happy to reply. Happy bidding!

LOT 3 CLAY FIGURES PRE COLUMBIAN PERUVIAN POTTERY ARTIFACTS 3 STATUES
Sometimes I see very rare and special antiquities collected by old Charleston families going through our local high end estate sales and such is the case with these three marvelous ancient pre Columbian Peruvian pottery figures. These terrific antique clay figures measure 4.75 inches tall by 4.5 inches long; 4.5 inches tall by 4 inches long; and 3 inches tall by inches long. Respectively. I've included numerous pictures in an attempt to accurately represent their design, quality, condition and overall beauty. Though I am not an expert in pre Columbian artifacts. It's very clear this wonderful group of ancient pottery figures are quite special and not something easy to come by. When they came to the auction where they sold, all that was known is that they had been in the grandfather's collections going back to the early 1900's ... morebut no other specific information as to whom or how they were originally obtained was provided, though it was clearly long ago and many years prior to any regulations limiting export so such historically relevant pieces by collectors and tourists. The only information with the figures was a hand written note stating they were of the pre Columbian Chimu culture, Peru 900-1470. To ship these incredible ancient collectibles. I would require they shipped via signature service UPS or USPS, fully insured for selling price. I am willing to sell and ship these artifacts internationally however I would require they be shipped via Priority Express International(USPS)with signature service at delivery and as well as buyer assuming all in country taxes and fees upon arrival. Certainly museum quality. This group of three Peruvian pre Columbian figures is certainly a rare and special find and I hope they find a very special home, whether museum or personal collection, where they will be loved and appreciated for their beauty and historical value. Please do visit my ebay store to see the wide variety of other fine antique and vintage collectibles I have available through separate auctions i
