Inc; 1999) Throughout the ancient world the Egyptians were famous for their scents and perfumes. The country was considered the most suitable for the manufacture of such commodities. As the distillation of alcohol was not known until the fourth century BC the scents were extracted by steeping plants. Flowers or splinters of fragrant wood in oil to obtain essential oil, which would then be added to other oils or fat. The materials were placed in a piece of cloth which was wrung until the last drop of fragrance had been retrieved. Alternatively they were boiled with oil and water and the oil skimmed off. As for the oils. There was a wide choice, the most commonly used being moringa, balanos, castor oil, linseed, sesame, safflower, and, to some extent, almond and olive. According to Theophrastus, who made a thorough study of fragrant substances in an essay entitled concerning odors, balanos was the least viscous and by far the most suitable oil, followed by fresh raw olive oil and almond oil. 12000Y.O: WONDERFUL KNIFE 117mms! DANISH STONE AGE LATE PALEOLITHIC FLINT SILEX
NORTHERN EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description Northern European reindeer hunter cultures! The length of this fantastic knife is 117 mms! Terrific patinized translucent flint with fossil includings! The Bromme/ Ahrensburg culture is a late Upper Paleolithic culture dated to the Allerød Oscillation. A warmer spell between the Elder Dryas and the Younger Dryas, the last cold periods of the late Weichsel Glaciation. At this time, the reindeer was the most important prey, but the Bromme people also hunted moose, wolverine and beaver. The landscape was consequently a combination of taiga and tundra. The culture is named after a settlement at Bromme on western Zealand, and it is known from several settlements in Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein. In Sweden, it is known from the country's earliest known ... moresettlement at Segebro, near Malmö. It is charactherized by sturdy lithic flakes that were used for all tools, primarily awls(sticklar) scrapers and skaftunge arrow heads. No stone axes have been found. The Bromme culture and the Ahrensburg culture are so similar that they it has been proposed that the two cultures should be combined as one and the same under the label Lyngby culture, with the Bromme culture being recognized as an older northern branch of the same culture as the Ahrensburg culture. Provenance is an old collection. More details will follow the knives. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of these artifacts from the Northern European Stone Age. During later wet periods, corresponding to the Ice Ages in northern Europe, newer cultures re-populated areas of the Sahara leaving different tool types in the Mesolithic and Neolithic eras. This is one of the more diverse offering of ancient Sahara relics you will find in one lot. The shortest point is 11/16th inch(18 mm) The longest tool is 2 1/2 inches(64 mm) long. Th ese are everyday work tools and adornments used. And lost or discarded by our Neolithic and earlier hunter-gatherer ancestors. Ancient Indian Stone Tools: The Brown Bear (paleolithic)
Found in the great outdoors of beautiful Michigan. This one of a kind stone tool has multiple purposes. this piece is authentic and was found in a hidden and very secluded property near the Muskegon river. Sincere collectors would be amazed at the rarity and sincerity this stone beholds. Michigan was greatly known for its travelers through its land in effort to harvest copper from the Upper Pennisula and has been believed that michigan's natural copper ore had fueled the bronze age. Ancient Indians had settled in Michigan far before any european settlers arrived in the mid 1800's. This stone is more than a stone. The Brown Bear would be. Not only great, but marvelous for any avid collectors collection.

31 nice Sahara Neolithic relics - tools, beads, and 1 paleolithic tool.
This group of 31 Sahara Neolithic relics. PLUS one PALEOLITHIC Aterian tool, is composed of diverse types of relics, which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Mauritania/Mali but also includes two triangular'Eiffel Tower' points from Algeria. This group consist of several types of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and uni-facial tool forms. In all there are 20 Neolithic stone projectile points and tools including: two early uni-facial tools(seen at bottom row, above beads) Also from the Neolithic there are also 10 hard stone beads and one cylindrical labret thought to be used in body piercing/adornment. At the upper right you will see an Aterian tool from the Sahara. This is the earlier known ... moretype of stone tool with a stem for hafting. Probably used to serve as a knife/scrapper. This tool is VERY used; worked down to a small size) ancient with weathered features and work around until it could no longer be used. The point has been worked into a shape for cutting/scrapping and was probably a hafted scrapper rather than a spear point(possibly re-purposed) This type of tool was used during a wet period in the Sahara 40,000 to 30,000 years ago; this relic is 2 inches(51 mm) long. The Aterian culture disappeared from the Sahara about 30.0000 years ago. During later wet periods, corresponding to the Ice Ages in northern Europe, newer cultures re-populated areas of the Sahara leaving different tool types in the Mesolithic and Neolithic eras. The shortest point is 15/16th inch(24 mm) The longest tool is 2 9/16th inches(66 mm) long. This is one of the more diverse offering of ancient Sahara relics you will find in one lot. Th ese are everyday work tools and adornments used. And lost or discarded by our Neolithic and earlier hunter-gatherer ancestors. They are all honest, authentic relics in good shape, some will exhibit minor ancient damage(as seen in he photograph)

Authentic Paleolithic Hand Ax XL
Authentic Paleolithic Bifacial Flint Hand Ax XL This is a superb. Pear-shaped hand ax discovered at the base of a large cliff near an ancient campfire site near Green River, Wyoming. There are not many hand axes that are found that are bigger or better than this one! The cliff is large enough to have served as a make-shift"buffalo jump. Buffalo jumps were used by both roaming and indigenous peoples of the plains. The hunters would drive the buffalo skillfully down"lanes" which directed them to a high cliff(usually 35 ft or more) At a fully gallop the buffalo would fall from the weight of the heard pressing upon them. Breaking their bones and rendering them immobile. The buffalo carcasses were then processed at camps situated near the foot of these"jumps. These and similar sites were used throughout history at various locations ... morearound the world. The age dating of the specimens are typically determined by the age of associated artifacts found in the area and. When possible, the determination of campfire charcoal dates. The age of this piece would suggest it is between 5.500 and 8,500 years old. It could be much older. Paleolithic means"old stone" and this hand ax tool is made from flint. The professionally trained eye can definitely verify that it is authentic. This scientific specimen comes with a COA from Jensan Scientifics. LLC. Legally collected by the company on expedition, in 2002. This is a one-of-a-kind specimen and tools this large are very rare. Size: 135mmL X 90mm W X 30mm D; Weight: 12.8 ounces or 365 grams

40.000Y.O:ACE LARGE FLINT BORER NEANDERTHAL MAN STONE AGE PALEOLITHIC MOUSTERIAN
EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description Outstanding Middle Paleolithic( Paleolithic) borer of the Homo Neanderthalensis- the Neanderthal( Neandertal) men from the Mousterian phase about 40.000- 60.000 years ago. The length is 91 mms! Wonderful thick patinated marble-like white flint! The Mousterian industry appeared around 200.000 years ago and persisted until about 40,000 years ago, in much the same areas of Europe, the Near East and Africa where Acheulean tools appear. In Europe these tools are most closely associated with Homo neanderthalensis, but elsewhere were made by both Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens. Mousterian tools required a preliminary shaping of the stone core from which the actual blade is struck off. The toolmakers either shaped a rock into a rounded surface before striking off the ... moreraised area as a wedge shaped flake(see photo at left) or they shaped the core as a long prism of stone before striking off triangular flakes from its length, like slices from a baguette. Because Mousterian tools were conceived as refinements on a few distinct core shapes, the whole process of making tools had standardized into explicit stages(basic core stone, rough blank, refined final tool) Variations in tool shapes could be produced by changes in the procedures at any stage. A consistent manufacturing goal was to increase as much as possible the cutting area on each blade. Though this made the toolmaking process more labor intensive, it also meant the edges of the tools could be reshaped or sharpened as they dulled, so that each tool lasted longer. The whole toolmaking industry had adapted to get the maximum utility from the labor invested at each step. Tool forms in the Mousterian industry display a wide range of specialized shapes. Cutting tools include notched flakes, denticulate(serrated) flakes, and flake blades similar to Upper Paleolithic tools. Points appear that seem designed for use in spears or lances, some including a tang or stub at the base that al

Paleolithic Arrowhead 53mm, Saharan Flint Artifact - 70,000-30,000BC (L030)
Paleolithic Arrowhead Length: 53mm Width: 36mm Depth: 10mm Material: Flint Colour: Brown Type: Nosed Point. Tanged Age: 70.000-30,000BC Area: Sahara The'Aterian industry' was a stone tool tradition of the Middle and Late Paleolithic period. Derived from the Mousterian culture in the region around the Atlas Mountains and the northern Sahara. It refers the site of Bir el Ater, south of Annaba. The Aterian people were among the first to use the bow and arrow. Aterian stone tools are an advanced African form of the European Levalloisian tradition, adapted to desert use. A distinctive Aterian sign is the formation of stems, or tangs, on tools to facilitate hafting; this was done on spearheads, arrowheads, and scrapers. Bifacial spearheads were produced with a very fine pressure chipping technique, equivalent in difficulty to those used ... morein later tool traditions such as the Mousterian. Leaf-shaped blades made by the Aterians have been likened to Solutrean blades; it has often been suggested that the Aterians may have entered the Iberian Peninsula during Solutrean times. These tanged/ stemmed arrowheads represent a milestone in early human cognitive thinking as well as Paleolithic history. The man-made protrusion seen in ATERIAN tools is the first evidence of a tang on a projectile point. Proof that the points were hafted on shafts and eventually developed into arrowheads. I will include with this Paleolithic arrowhead an A4 information sheet outlining the details above and showing a colour photograph of the item and its measurements etc. I will also include a basic Paleolithic arrowhead'type guide' see item pictures to know what to expect. I have personally handled over 35.000 of arrowheads or'flints' during my collecting over the last 20 years. All of my items are authentic, I do not sell fakes or reproductions, this is as important to me as it is to you. If any of my sales are ever proven to be anything other than stated and genuine I will refund in full. Please look at my other items or visit
