15000Y.O: PRECIOUS SIDE SCRAPER STONE AGE PALEOLITHIC MAGDALENIAN FLINT C EUROPE
EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description European Palaeolithic Magdalenian Culture. Dating around 13000 bc. Late Upper Palaeolithic hunter-gatherer communities occupying much of northern and western Europe during the period 16000–10000 bc. The classic Magdalenian is concentrated in southern France and northern Spain. But it can also be recognized extending northwards into Britain and eastwards into the North European Plain in Germany, Poland, and as far as the Sudost River in Russia. The name is taken from the type-site rock-shelter of La Madeleine in the Dordogne Valley of southwest France. The Magdalenian stone industry is characterized by small geometrically shaped implements, especially triangles and semilunar blades, that were probably set into bone or antler handles for use, burins, scrapers, borers, ... morebacked bladelets, and shouldered and leaf-shaped projectile points. Bone was used extensively to make wedges, adzes, hammers, spear heads with link shafts, barbed points and harpoons, eyed needles, and jewellery. Their economy was based on reindeer hunting and fishing, and there is evidence of occupied caves as well as open sites. Some of the finest cave art in France and northern Spain can be attributed to these communities, as can a great many decorated bone and ivory pieces. The Magdalenian followed the Solutrean and Aurignacian and was succeeded by the simplified Azilian. Magdalenian culture disappeared as the cool. Near-glacial climate of the late Devensian Stage warmed and the animal herds the communities depended upon became scarce. The length of this terrific white blue patinized flint burin is 65 mms. Provenance is an old German collection. More details will follow the artifacts. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of this wonderful Central European artifact. 29 Sahara Neolithic relics - tools, celt, beads, and 1 paleolithic tool.
This group of 29 Sahara Neolithic relics. Plus a Paleolithic Aterian tool, is composed of diverse types of relics, which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Muaratania/Mali but also includes two trianglar Eiffel Tower points from Algeria. This group consist of several types and subtypes of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and unifacial tool forms. In all there are 17 stone projectile points and tools, 10 hard-stone beads(mostly quartz disc beads) one pottery bead(western Mauratania) and one hardstone celt(miniture form) There is an unusual three-sided tool seen at the bottom. This is probably a punch and is from early Neolithic Morocco. At the upper right you will see an Auterian tool from the Sahara. ... moreThis is the earlier known type of stone tool with a stem for hafting. Probably to serve as a knife/scrapper. Tips are often worked around for scrapping(not broken) as is this one. This relic is a good 30,000 years old. This is one of the more diverse offering of ancient Sahara relics you will find in one lot. The shortest point is a triangle of 11/16th inch(17 mm) long. The longest tool is the punch. It is 3 inches(78 mm) long. Seen at bottom right. The celt is 9/16th inches(19 mm) long. Heel to bit. It has been worked down to a stubby form with a bit dulled from usage. Th ese are everyday work tools and adornments used. And lost or discarded by our Neolithic and earlier hunter-gatherer ancestors. They are all honest, authentic relics in good shape, some will exhibit minor ancient damage(as seen in he photograph) Such as dings, usually to tips, tangs, and/or barbs to stemmed points. Small dings are to be expected given their delicacy, usage, and 4000+ years lying in the desert, subject to damage by adverse weather, animals, and now 4-wheel drive vehicles. These relics exhibit good patinas and are a nice, diverse sampling of relics from the Western Sahara. My auc

PALEOLITHIC ARTIFACTS - A Sand Polished Fist Axe!
I recently got this piece from Rick Steed. A dealer in American Indian artifacts. It was part of a large arrowhead collection he had purchased, with a note that it had been picked up in North Africa many, many years ago. This is a large, well-made, and thin quartzite fist axe exhibiting nice desert polish. There is a void near the butt end caused by a vug(softer material deposited in the stone) leaching out over time. It is NOT a break. This is a flawless example of Stone Age craftsmanship that may be well over 40,000 years old!

Exceptional Burin on Long Flint Blade, Upper Paleolithic Aurignacian 35.000 BC
Exceptional Burin on Long Flint Blade. Upper Paleolithic Aurignacian 35.000 BC Description Type: burin on break on blade. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Upper Paleolithic/ Palaeolithic: Aurignacian. Dating: approx. 38.000 to 28.000 B.C. Description: Size: length 9.0 cm, weight 29 grams, Shape. Retouch: a very interesting burin on long blade: it is made on break and has at least one short burin blow at the right edge. The shape of this burin/ working edge is exceptional. It is a Zinken/borer-like tip which is also trimmed at the distal end and on the exterior side. The proximal end is as interesting: it is also a break, the cortical area at the left edge of the interior side is removed with two burin-blow like strikes(pictures 7, 8) The edge is too blunt and thick to be used as burin, but the break looks used and we suspect that the cortex ... morewas removed because it just stood in the way for proper use of the broken end. The right lateral edge of the tool has a continuous fine retouch. Raw-material: grey-brown flint, Preservation: very well. No modern damages. Origin. Fantastic Quartzite Handaxe, Lower Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx 600.000 BC
Fantastic Quartzite Handaxe. Lower Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx 600.000 BC Description Type: handaxe. Cleaver-like specimen on flake. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Lower Palaeolithic. Lower Acheulian. Dating: archaeological research in Western Europe proved that the European continent has been conquested as early as 1.3 to 1,1 Mio years(finds of Atapuerca/ Spain) Early Pleistocene. The assignment of the oldest human finds at Atapuerca to a particular early human species as Homo erectus or Homo antecessor is still controversial. As controversially discussed is the earliest date of permanent colonization of Europe, and good dating of the high gravel terraces of southern French rivers is still lacking. So we suggest an estimated time frame of approx. 800.000 to 400.000 BP. Description: Size: length 15.4 cm, width 8,6 cm, thickness 5,8 ... morecm, weight 715 grams, Shape. Retouch: a fantastic and very interesting handaxe. Made on a large flake. Point of percussion is removed, it must have been somewhere at the proximal part of the left edge of the face shown in picture 3. The handaxe is of asymmetrical wedge shape, with a steep back at the right edge of the face shown first, and a cutting/ working edge opposite. The tip is pointed and triangular, with medial ridge on the face shown first. Facial retouch is made with broad flaking, mainly on the proximal part of both faces. The back is worked with broad and some finer flaking, and the thin working edge is wavy at the proximal part where the edge is trimmed, and straight at the distal part where no additional retouch was needed. This handaxe can be classified as cleaver-like specimen(the working edge being the thin long lateral edge) or as pointed specimen because of the very pointed pronounced tip, or as backed handaxe because of it’s thick steep back. Raw-material: a grey quartzite pebble. The most common raw-material on the Garonne terraces. Preservation: very well: two recent chips and some small surface abrasion at the distal part of the left edge of the fac
