ANTIQUE AUTHENTIC EXCELLENT CONDITION My father purchased this over 50 years ago. He purhased it through an art/antique dealer from Los Angeles Ca He said it is a reproduction of the giant Olmec Tribe Sculptures found in Mexico and that it was made in Mexico. He said it was an antique at that time he acquired it. I remember viewing it in my fathers mini secret gallery he created at work. My mother didnt know how much he spent on his art collection. It's super heavy. I can't carry it, not even 1 foot from my car to a flat dolly. I will try to get someone to lift it for me in order to figure out how much it actually weighs. I won't ship it. It's way too heavy heavy heavy. It must be over 50 lbs. It's gorgeous for a garden but we've used it indoors next to the fireplace on a marble surrounding next to textiles and leather ... moreclub chairs. It measures: Height 1" Depth 1/4" Lenght 3 1/2" It depicts a fish pendant with movement. Very classy, and fancy, there's a chip on the part of the tail where it bends, heavy minneralization. Biconical perforated on eye and fin for maximum support. Highly wearable, musseum quality item, in the Bach there are indentations where probably stones were inlaid but had since decay. Artifacts from Monte Alban Zapotec Mixtec Olmec Pre-Columbian
Hi. I have two great artifacts for auction. These were recovered from the ruins of Monte Alban in Oaxca, Mexico in 1968. They come with notes saying the specific structures they came from. and when. The pottery piece is nice. It has a nice headress and ear spools. The paperwork says it dates to 900-1400 AD. The other head says that it is Olmec and a stone face. It says it's stone, and it looks like stone.I believe it is actually very hard pottery. The paperwork says it dates 1500-272 BC. The Monte Alban and Mitla areas were inhabited my many tribes including the Olmec, Zapotec, and Mixtec. There are old picture slides of the older head. This is a Handcrafted Vintage Mexican Coin Bracelet 1983 1984 Olmec 20 Centavos. It measures almost 8 inches long. In 1983 the Mexico City Mint replaced the Madero 20 centavos coinage with a new 20 centavos coin and a design based on the ancient Olmec Culture. The Olmec were the first major pre-Columbian civilization to emerge in Mexico and its origins date back to circa 1400 BC. Unfortunately. Due to hyperinflation, the 20 centavos denomination and all centavo coinage would cease to be issued and by 1984 the series came to an abrupt end making this a short lived two year type coin. This would remain the last 20 centavos coin until 1993 when coinage reform was introduced by President Carlos Salinas de Gortari in an attempt to reign in hyperinflation and centavo coinage returned to circulating coins. Hi. I have a great stone Olmec figure for auction. This ancient statue portrays an Olmec woman. She has long hair coming down the back, and all the proper parts in the front. This stone woman is fairly heavy. She is 6 1/2" high and 4" wide. The dollar bill and half dollar are for size comparison only and are not included in the auction. This ancient stone figure shows her age, as ther is weathering to the stone. There were some ancient repairs to the legs. This artifact dates to around 1000-200 BC. Olmec civilization is pre-Mayan and existed in South Eastern Mexico including Yucatan. There is quite a history from this civilization but it is unclear who the Colossal stones represented. This head is designed after one of the stones located in Jalapa Museum Museum of Anthropology. The original stone is as big as a car but this stone is a hefty 5 pounds and made of solid Jadeite. This particular stone was broken during mining and repaired before carving was done. It adds to the character and aged look of the carving. A wonderful hand-tooled leather jewelry box. Made in Mexico, vintage 50's Measures 8 1/2" x 4 3/4" and stands 4" tall With Aztec calendar. Olmec head, and cactus designs on top lid. Each side has an elaborate ornate pattern, deeply tooled, very beautiful. Inside has a removable tray with 3 sections. Interior and tray lined with salmon pink velveteen. In excellent condition for it's age ~ minor shallow dent marks to the velveteen lining on the lid. Also 3 slight marks inside one section in the tray, left side tenth pic. Hi I have an awesome Olmec stone figure for auction. This white stone Olmec figure is amazing in many ways. First off this Olmec figure is extremely thin. The finess how they carved it is incredible. One of the other unique things is the open ears. You can see thru them. The mineral deposits on this ancient artifact are one of the testaments to its age. 2 VINTAGE 1980'S CARVED OBSIDIAN OLMEC / MAYAN OR AZTEC TIKI TRIBAL FIGURINES
For your consideration these 2 vintage 1980's carved replica obsidian Olmec/ Mayan/ Aztec tribal figurines. Obviously these are reproductions of gods or tribal chieftains from these cultures and not genuine antique carvings and are considered modern collectibles. FYI: Obsidian is an igneous rock that forms when molten rock material cools so rapidly that atoms are unable to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. It is an amorphous material known as" mineraloids" The result is a volcanic glass with a smooth uniform texture that breaks with conchoidal fracture. Black is the most common color of obsidian. However. It can also be brown, tan, or green. The colors are thought to be caused mainly by trace elements or inclusions. As a"glass" obsidian is chemically unstable. With the passage of time. Some obsidian ... morebegins to crystallize. This process does not happen at a uniform rate throughout the rock. Instead it begins in various locations within the rock. At these locations, the crystallization process forms radial clusters of white or gray cristobalite crystals within the obsidian. These 2 figurines each have the beginning of the crystallization process present. The larger of the two figurines has a small area above eye at beginning of headdress and the smaller of the two has on the right arm. The larger of the two also has some striations on the back surface that evidently too deep to polish when originally carved. These imperfections in no way hinder the appearance for display. Or comprise the integrity of the stone. All is naturally occurring and not from misuse. The first figurine in this lot measures 7 1/8" tall. 3" long, 2 1/2" wide( deep) and weighs 1 lb. 12.6 oz. The second figurine in this lot measures 7 3/8" tall 2 3/4" long, 2 1/2" wide( deep) and weighs 2 lbs. 0.1 oz. The figurines can be used as a pair as bookends or as stand alone figurines.
