Pre-Columbian Olmec Anthropomorphic Sitting Shaman Were-Jaguar Stone Sculpture
Scouring the Planet for Unusual and Unique Products Pre-Columbian Olmec Anthropomorphic Sitting Shaman Were-Jaguar Stone Sculpture Description Pre-Columbian Olmec anthropomorphic sitting shaman were-jaguar stone sculpture. The were-jaguar figure is made of what I believe is volcanic rock. He is incised with two suns and a stalk of maize representing the cycle of life. His upward looking face is in the traditional Olmec paedomorphic pattern with open downcurved mouth. Wide nose, thick lips, hollow almond shaped eyes and slim double pierced ears. His hands and feet have morphed into jaguar-like paws. There are incisions or cuts on each of his shoulders, maybe to help release the jaguar from the man. The tortured facial features are intended to convey, not ferocity and aggressiveness, but emotional stress beyond endurance. He is either dead ... moreor dying; the avatar of the living and dead. The half-man-half-jaguar figure in Mesoamerican magico-religious artwork is an interpretation of a belief rather than a literal recording of a specific person's facial features. He stands 8" high. The collection of Pre-Columbian art I am selling came from the estate of a well known Louisville. Kentucky doctor who did medical missionary work in South America beginning in the 1950s. Having become knowledgeable of Pre-Columbian art he continued to acquire artifacts until his death. I'm doing the best I can from his notes, journals and one letter from an expert who appraised some of the items as being authentic. Secure shipping weight is 3 lbs. 2 oz. and with eBay calculated shipping your shipping cost will be calculated right to your door. Ancient Pre-Columbian Olmec Head
This true-to-life Inca Indian figure head is an exact reproduction of those in ancient times. Many original artifacts were found in archeological digs throughout Latin America. The Inca Indians however. Were a tribe found in Peru which is in northern Latin America. Figure heads like this reproduced one tell us what Man looked like at this point in history hundreds of years ago. This particular reproduction is so real looking it even has chips on the lower lip of the head and near the left eye giving this piece an authentic ancient look very uncommon by todays standards(zoom-in pictures#1& 5) The figure head measures 4" tall X 3" at its widest point. It appears to be carved from stone into its present condition. It is in superb condition and makes a nice accent piece for the novelty collector of Inca Indian Art. The final touch ... morefor an Interior Designer's motif or a very fine shelf or desk item. Stand not included. Good Luck! Any questions? Please Email me ASAP.

Inca Olmec Toltec Aztec Maya Pre-Columbian Anthropic Rock Sculpture Stone Statue
I have 5 Different statues in 5 Different Listings having ONE(1) Statue in each Listing. The Price is at an Unreasonable $1000 with a Best Offer. Make me a REASONABLE Offer; and the Statue is Yours. The Statues are very Heavy and currently Packed away in Storage. Therefore. The exact weight of each, I cannot provide; But they are VERY HEAVY. As you can see by the picture. They are large. note the table it is on and the other background for a size comparison) Shipping is Via LARGE Flat Rate Priority Mail Box for $17.45(you will see the Stamps on the Box) IF I am able to send it LESS EXPENSIVE. I will either issue you a refund OR put the Difference in the Box. I acquired these Pieces in Mexico. In March 2007. The farmer told me that he found them on his land at some ruins. I am not sure what culture they belong to; but by the Looks of some ... moreof their Faces. I would suspect them to be Pre- Columbian Smurfs: I had to smuggle them out of Mexico; hidden in a spare tire. The Federally check point missed them; even though they Totally Tore Apart My Car. I do not believe them to be Thousands or even Hundreds of years old Artifacts; But. I did not want to take a chance. Most Likely they are replicas made by the Farmer. I have included pictures of the place where they were supposedly found. They would make EXCELLENT Garden accessories; or even display pieces in ones Study. They are made of some kind of Stone(like Sandstone) or an Anthropic Rock. There are no Chips or Cracks. The white markings you see on them are discolorations. The Pictures were taken in California in 2007; and they have been stored away ever since. There is no combined shipping. As EACH will need its own Large Flat Rate Box because of their Size. Any other Questions Please ask.

Primitive Ceramic Mask 5.75" top to Bottom Olmec Features
I think this might be a pre columbian piece. But I don't know. There is dirt over the paint that is on it, but the paint is itself over some old apparent damage, as if it had been added long after the piece had been made. There also seems to be some red paint under it, and the back of the mask has a coating of something. It has one skull earring and has lost one on the other side. That other side has an additional earring part which is missing from the side that still has the skull. It is small for a human face, but it fits very nicely on a statue I have; maybe that's what it was made for. There is a hole on each side through which a string can be run. The actual color looks greener to me than my pictures appear on my screen. US only Payment due within 48 hours of purchase. The style of this design is Olmec. With the general expression, ... morethe two areas of hair(presumably) on the head, the straps(or whatever) on the cheeks, all Olmec features.

Olmec Colossal Head - Ancients - Solid Jadeite - pre columbian mayan style jade
Stones of the Ancients Olmec stone carving design. 5 pounds solid jadeite. 4 inches tall. Colossal Head Hand carved. There are 17 known colossal heads discovered in Mexico. Olmec civilization is pre-Mayan and existed in South Eastern Mexico including Yucatan. There is quite a history from this civilization but it is unclear who the Colossal stones represented. This head is designed after one of the stones located in Jalapa Museum of Anthropology. The original stone is as big as a car but this stone is a hefty 5 pounds and made of solid Jadeite. Jade to the ancients of Central America signified eternal life. In the pictures of this offering I have shown also a hand carved piece of jadeite representing the"Tree of Life" The original tree of life stela found in the ruins of Izapa. Mexico stands 9 feet tall. The tree of life piece of ... morejadeite is 6.5" wide X 7.5" tall and 1.125" thick. It weighs 5 pounds 4 ounces. You are welcome to make an offer for it as well. Published nearly 50 years ago. This book has long been out of print. Such a nice copy is not likely to come up for sale again soon on ebay. From the Text: Jades of the Maya Lowlands. Robert L. Rands. Jade. Among both highland and lowland Maya, was a highly prize stone, often subject to artistic embellishment. Considerable diversity is present in the raw material, which constitutes forms of jadeite, diopside-jadeite, and chloromelanite. In addition, various jadelike ... moreminerals were sometimes fashioned into objects similar to those made of jade Nevertheless, jade itself was normally used in the finest carvings, indicating that greater intrinsic value was placed on this hard, often lustrous gemstone. As shown by the waterworn appearance of their uncut surfaces, many jade objects were worked from stones found in stream beds. Numerous slices had been sawed from such a boulder excavated at Kaminaljuyu(Kidder, Jennings, and Shook, 1946, fig. 154,c,d) A single outcrop of jade-bearing stone is known from Manzanal, near the Motagua River in Guatemala. Ground near th eoutcropping is littered with anguarl fragments of jadeite and associated albite, showing breakage on alls ides but no signs of natural wear, an indication that these materials had been quarried Foshag(1957) compares the jades from Manzanal to the pale greenish jadeite found frequently in carvings from the Quiche region and recognizes six other types of jade in objects from Guatemala. Among these, the so-called"blue" or"Olmec" jadeite is of limited occurrence, known only in preclassic and Early Classic contexts. Favored emerald-green to apple-green jadeite occurs wide

Mayas, Olmecs, Toltecs, and other Pre-Columbian peoples of Mexico and Central America carved jadeite for use as ornaments, amulets, and badges of rank. Nearly all of these Meso-American jades are of various shades of green, with emerald green the most highly prized color among the Aztecs. The jade carvings range from plaques, figurines, small masks, pendants, to of course, tools and weapons. The widespread use of jade died out in Meso-America after the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. Elsewhere in the ancient world jade was widely used by primitive peoples as tools and weapons in the Neolithic, especially in Europe, Mexico, Asia, New Zealand, and North Africa(including ancient Egypt) The best-known finds are from the lake dwellings of Switzerland, western France, and China. Celebrating our cultural inheritance here's a good quality 18th century antique hand crafted/shaped/polished semi-precious jade gemstone. Hand crafted by an 18th century Russian artisan. Part o

Vintage Mexican porcelain liquor decanter; replica of Olmec carved stone heads
VINTAGE MEXICAN PORCELAIN LIQUOR DECANTER; REPLICA OF OLMEC CARVED STONE HEADS Amazing work; looks and feels like stone 5-inches tall to top of cork. By 4-inches wide by 4-inches deep The face is a replica of stone heads once carved by the Olmec indians. An ancient civilization centered in Mexico, which later became sophisticated for its time. On the back of the decanter is a white area where the liquor label was removed. There is a bit of a subdued shine around the edges. Remnants of adhesive or glue. A similar decanter with label still attached was filled with tequila. I do not know what type of drink this held. The decanter is empty. And has no smell. On the back above the missing label is a thin strip of yellowed paper on which the following is typed or printed in black: El abuso en el consumo de este producto es nocivo para la salud. ... moreBasically it is a warning that abusing the contents is not good for your health. On the bottom of the decanter is marked in green: Marcas Registradas. Below that is stamped in a semi-circle. Porcelana de- I cannot quite make out this word) Mexico. In the middle of the semi-circle is a stylized duck or bird with a crown on its head. I have not been able to find that logo in an online search. And cannot identify it. This is an interesting decanter that could easily double as a conversation-sparking display piece. RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2Bf%60%60%3E-146f00f0eb3-0x107-
