30 average, common-grade Sahara Neolithic points and tools
Lot Description: This is a diverse group of 30 good. Common-grade Sahara desert found tools. This lot is composed of a diverse group of projectile point and tools forms. The lot consist of all the main types including stemmed. Triangular, ovate, and unifacial and are mostly from the southwestern Sahara(northern Mauritania/Mali) Th ese tools were used to hunt and process water fowl and other game in the now dried up lakes of the Sahara 4.000 years ago. Most of these tools are on the smaller size. The shortest tool is 5/8th inch long(16 mm) The longest tool is 1 7/8th inches(47 mm) The condition is good. There are ancient dings to some of these points and tools, as can be expected with working tools. These small tools were used and lost or discarded when they became too small to use; most are complete. See picture for details. The color in ... morehand. Is better than the picture indicates. The natural light somehow washes out the color or maybe it's my photography skills. These relics are representative of everyday tools. Many of these tools were used until they could no longer function well because they were to small to re-sharpen at which point they were discarded others were lost in the hunt. A nice diverse sampling of Sahara tools! Background information is provided with my 2-page essay on the subject. Which will be included. Neolithic populations living near now dried lakes and rivers in what is now the Sahara desert; used these tools in the hunt for and processing of waterfowl and small game. The end of the Ice Age resulted in global climate changes which stopped the rains and forced these Neolithic(New Stone Age) peoples into new modes of existence. Either agriculture which was just beginning at the end of the Neolithic, or a nomadic animal husbandry mode of existence. The New Stone Age was a very dynamic era giving rise to agriculture, pottery, and permanent settlements, all of which were milestones in humankinds march toward'civilized' life. The Sahara Neolithic lasted from 9,000 to 4,000 BP(years Bef

Neolithic Danish stone age thick necked axe, ca. 2000-1500 BC
Neolithic Danish thick necked axe. Ca. 2000-1500 BC Weight: 390 grams. Len gth: 15 cm. Width: 5 cm, height: 2.5 cm Th ese thick necked axes came into use in the single grave period and up to the beaker culture and dagger time(dolktid) This axe. Polished on the front and back, unpolished on the sides, has a real marble-like feel about it. It has lovely patina. Super high gloss. It has damage on the cutting edge. But not enough to detract from the beauty of the piece. This is a working axe. So of course work-re lated scars occur. T o my mind these scars are perfectly respectable. But of course that is a matter of taste. This axe was found by my husband in Halk(south-east Jutland. Denmark) on a rainy day in December.

The Neolithic period. Which began in China around 10,000 B.C. and concluded with the introduction of metallurgy about 8,000 years later, was characterized by the development of settled communities that relied primarily on farming and domesticated animals rather than hunting and gathering. In China, as in other areas of the world, Neolithic settlements grew up along the main river systems. Those that dominate the geography of China are the Yellow(central and northern China) and the Yangzi(southern and eastern China) A distinctly Chinese artistic tradition can be traced to the middle of the Neolithic period. About 4000 B.C. Two groups of artifacts provide the earliest surviving evidence of this tradition. It is now thought that these cultures developed their own traditions for the most part independently, creating distinctive kinds of architecture and types of burial customs, but with some communication and cultural exchange between them. The first group of artifacts is the painted pottery found at numerous sites along the Yellow River basin. Extending from Gansu Province in northwestern China to Henan Province in central China. 22 nice Sahara Neolithic points and tools
Lot Description: This is a nice group of 22 diverse Sahara desert found tools. This lot is composed of a much better than average. Diverse projectile points types including triangular, ovate, and stemmed projectile points. Most of these tools were found in the southwestern Sahara( Mauritania/Mali) There is one Eiffel Tower point from Algeria(top. Second from right) These tools were used to hunt and process water fowl and other game in the now dried up lakes of the Sahara 4.000 years ago. The shortest point is 3/4th inch long(20 mm) The longest tool is 2 1/4thth inches(58 mm) The condition is very good. There may be a minor ancient ding or two, as can be expected with working tools, most are complete. See picture for detail. The color in hand. Is better than the picture indicates. The natural light somehow washes out the color(especially whites) ... moreor maybe it's my photography skills. The Sahara Neolithic lasted from 9,000 to 4,000 BP(years Before Present) I will include my 2-page essay on the Sahara Neolithic to explain som
33 Sahara Neolithic relics - tools, celt, beads, and 1 paleolithic tool.
This group of 33 Sahara Neolithic relics. Plus a Paleolithic Aterian tool, is composed of diverse types of relics, which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Muaratania/Mali but also includes three trianglar Eiffel Tower points from Algeria. This group consist of several types and subtypes of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and unifacial tool forms. In all there are 21 stone projectile points and tools, 10 hard-stone beads(mostly quartz disc beads) one pottery bead(western Mauratania) one hardstone celt, and a cylindrical labret thought to be used in body piercing or lips or ears. There is a unifacial tool seen at the bottom middle. It is from the late Mesolithic era or early Neolithic Morocco, dating ... moreto approximately 7,000 years Before Present. At the upper right you will see an Auterian tool from the Sahara. This is the earlier known type of stone tool with a stem for hafting. Probably to serve as a knife/scrapper. Tips are often worked around for scrapping(not broken) as is this one. This relic is a good 30,000 years old, possibly much older. This is one of the more diverse offering of ancient Sahara relics you will find in one lot. The shortest point is a triangle of 3/4th inch(19 mm) long. The longest tool is a nice ovaal blade of 2 3/8th inches(62 mm) long. Seen at bottom right. The celt is 1 3/8th inches(34 mm) long. Heel to bit. It has been worked down to a stubby form with a bit dulled from usage. Th ese are everyday work tools and adornments used. And lost or discarded by our Neolithic and earlier hunter-gatherer ancestors. They are all honest, authentic relics in good shape, some will exhibit minor ancient damage(as seen in he photograph) Such as dings, usually to tips, tangs, and/or barbs to stemmed points. Small dings are to be expected given their delicacy, usage, and 4000+ years lying in the desert, subject to damage by adverse weather, animals,
