With vertical stripes in varying widths, it may originate in San Raimundo or San Juan Sacatepequez. Sterling Silver Pendant-Brooch-Pin of Mayan Calendar Made in Mexico
This is a versatile piece that can be worn as both a brooch or a pendant. The design is a perpetual mayan calendar which appears to be silversmithed by hand. I am not an expert on this exact piece. But there is stamp on the back that says"Sterling" and then a"925" and then the word"Mexico" There is another marking with the number 83 inside a badge design. These are visible in picture number 3. The rollover pin clasp is missing the rollover locking mechanism, but still can be worn as a pin. I am not sure if the chain that comes with it is actual real silver. I obtained this from a vendor at a street fair. There are facinating glyths on this piece. It has a lot of visual appeal. The piece measures 2 1/4" in diameter. This is a made in Mexico Aztec or Mayan God pendant and stone and wire chain. These are common pieces in Mexico and they are made from native marble stone in Mexico. This chain is 28 inches long and the pendant hangs downabout 2 and three quarter inches from the chain. The pendant is a representation of a native God figure with black details. The pendant measures about 2 and a half inches by 1 and three quarter inches. The wires are black which contrasts nicely with the stone. Some of the spiral beads are cracked and one looks like it has been glued. Cracking is common for these marble pieces but this one has held together nicely. It has a simple wire hook clasp on it. This post-2000 woman's huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is cotton. The finely embroidered geometric designs were added using needle embroidery by hand. All the embroidery threads are cotton. Polished cotton or artificial silk. The huipil consists of two panels, seemed at the edges to form the garment. Some of the lower edges are selvage-finished, and some are nicely hemmed. The adornment around the head- and arm-holes is retained. The stitching under the arm-holes is also present. So that the garment can be used without modification. This garment was purchased in 2012 and was about 5 years old at the time. Measurements: 29 inches wide and 31 inches shoulder to hem. He wears a ceremonial headdress. Earrings, and a collar decorated with three dangles in the shape of leaves. This substantial piece is highly 3-dimensional and weighs approximately 40 grams. The brooch measures an enormous 4.25" in length. It is marked sterling. TM-50, Taxco, Mexico, RMC or RMG(maker's signature) The TM-50 mark indicates that the brooch was made in Taxco, post-1979, by the 50th silversmith whose surname begins with the letter M to register a mark with the Taxco assay office(TM-50) The carving is finely done and depicts a warrior's impassive ... moreexpression. Mayan/Aztec Vintage Wood Box green Stone/resin Relief Flower Mexico S.America
This is a vintage or used wooden bot that looks to be from Mexico or someplace in South America(not marked) The dark wood box has a fancy raised/applied decoration to the top. The decoration looks to be some type of crushed stone mixed with resin and molded into the shapes. Box Size is about 6 inches by 6 1/4 inches. And 2 1/2 inches high. There is felt on the inside and the bottom. This is a hinged box made of thick wood. Good used/vintage condition; might need a light cleaning/polishing and has some normal age/use wear. Because my items are vintage/used they may have some signs of use/wear and/or be in need of some cleaning or polishing. I have not tried to clean or do anything to the piece. NO RESERVE! A large festival dance is common, and the Dance of the Conquest(Baile de la Conquista in Spanish) is a version often performed. This is a boy's jacket from an outfit for this dance, from the village of Patzun. It consists of just the jacket, and is for a small boy of about 6-10 years old. This jcket is 10-20 years old. And is of an older style used for decades. The woman from whom I purchase these textiles was from Patzun and said that the garments were worn in the Baile of the Conquest in her village. So I know it didn't predict the end of the world but yes it is cool. It appears to be stone of some kind but I am not 100% sure so please look at the pictures closely. It is very heavy however. Up for sale. a vintage Mayan style idol statue carved ~ sculpted out of a sandstone type material. The figure has an interesting expression& great native-costume detailing and he also has intriguing hand placement like some other Mayan pieces. Interesting Conversation Piece. The sandstone material is wonderfully multi-hued that I attempted to capture in the photgraphs. Lots of pictures in this listing so that you can see the detail. Character, and condition of this unique vintage piece. Approximate size: 7& 1/2" tall with a 2& 1/4" square pedestal base. Weight: The statue weighs nearly 1& 1/2 pounds.
