The particular manuscript of the"Shah-nameb" introduced here by Stuart Cary Welch, Curator of Indian and Islamic Painting at the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, is the most sumptuous one every produced. Containing scores of paintings where other sixteenth-century manuscripts contained perhaps a dozen. The Houghton"Shah-nameb" identified with the name of its owner, Arthur A. Unusual Antique Islamic Ring Flask
Unusual Islamic Ring Flask Measuring 4.25" 11cm) across x 5.25" 13.5cm) max height x 1" 2.5cm) deep Unsigned Interesting ring flask which looks very Islamic to me. Earthenware body with two small lug handles. Front of the flask is decorated in blue brushwork. There is some string or cord tieing the handles together although this does not look as old as the flask. As for the age of the flask I have no idea but I cannot find another example like it so any ideas would be great! CONDITION: The flask has an old crack right through one side with a couple of associated losses. I cannot see a crack or any restoration the other side so not sure how this happened.
