Vintage Persian / Islamic Pottery Jug / Vase : Turqoise Blue Glazed Faience
Vintage Persian/ Islamic Pottery Jug/ Vase: Turqoise Blue Glazed Faience This is a beautiful Persian Pottery jug- a superb shape and a great colour- it is hand thrown in earthenware with an opaque turqoise blue glaze. I'm no expert on this type of ceramic. So find this hard to date: pottery of this type has been made since at least the fourteenth century! but looking at the condition I'd suggest this piece is between about 40 and 80 years old. Size: about 10 1/4 inches high(26 cm) Weight: 1094 grammes before packing Condition: good: the only obvious fault is a small area of glaze loss near the base of the handle. There is also some wear and are a couple of minor nicks to the base edge.see the photographs. SHIPPING TO MAINLAND UK IS £6.50 BY COURIER- TO HIGHLANDS/ ISLANDS MAY BE MORE. PLEASE ASK. Payment must be made within 7 ... moredays of winning bid unless other arrangements have been made. If there is a problem with payment. Please contact me. I am quite reasonable and willing to help sort out any problems, but If I receive no contact after 7 days have passed, a non-payment case will be opened and I will offer the item to the next highest bidder. Payments from overseas must be made with paypal unless other arrangements are agreed with me prior to bidding. U.K payments can be made via paypal. Personal cheque or postal order. Cash on collection is also possible by arrangement. Postage Costs: I keep my postage costs to a reasonable level- but they do have to reflect the costs of lightweight packaging materials and the time spent packing the item properly so that it will arrive with you in one piece. I usually add about one pound on top of what Royal Mail or Courier charge as the shipping cost to cover the materials used- I recycle what I can but still spend a lot on bubblewrap. Tape, boxes etc. It is not my aim to make a profit out of shipping costs, but I do spend many hours packing items and my time is valuable too. NOTE THAT EBAY NOW CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE TO SELLERS OF 10% OF ALL POSTAGE COSTS- A

Antique Islamic Pottery Ceramic Middle Eastern Earthenware Morrocan Souk vase
Antique Islamic Pottery Ceramic Middle Easter Earthenware Morrocan Souk vase ~ This art pottery vase or loop-handled pot measures about 12 inches tall and 4 ½ inches in diameter at base and is 20 inches around at its widest point. Weighs more than 2 pounds. I am not an expert but I think this piece is in the style of that made in region of Safi in Morocco. It looks to be hand-turned. Beautifully hand painted and illustrated with various people figures wearing Middle Eastern garb. The glaze is a reddish brown color with 4 loop handles that originally could have been used for hanging to use for bathing. Not sure of age but this piece is old. It is not signed- the bottom looks as though it may been mounted or some sort of excess of white clay with minor chip or two on bottom. Please LOOK at ALL Photos. There are some minor scuffs and this ... morepiece is old and dusty- has some very light white oxidation marks on one side toward bottom edge. There is no other damage- it is not cracked or chipped. Very nice solid vase. Aftaba Moroccan souk water vessel. Below is information found online- which I think is what this piece is. If you know any information about this piece- please do share and kindly send a message. Thank you~ Morocco’s souks are filled with colorful treasures. Among them, a wide variety of pottery. Vases and pots, decorated with colorful etchings, sit for sale alongside tagines, the conical-shaped cooking pots typical of Moroccan cuisine. Three cities—Fez, Meknes and, especially, Safi, are the main pottery centers of the country, producing about 80 percent of Morocco’s pottery. In these cities, sun-baked clay twirls on wheels, forming into practical and attractive shapes. Designs etched into the wet clay set as the pottery dries in the sun. Artisans fire pieces in kilns and decorate them with colorful glazes, making them water-resistant. Most Moroccan pottery design is heavily influenced by Islamic or Berber art. Intricate geometric and arabesque patterns tend to cover the entire surface of pieces, com

Height: 13.5 cm(5.2" Width: 14 cm(5.6" Top: 8 cm(3.2" Base: 5.5 cm(2.2" The Mamluks ruled Egypt and Syria from 1250 until 1517. When their dynasty was extinguished by the Ottomans. But Mamluks had first appeared in the Abbasid caliphate in the ninth century and even after their overthrow by the Ottomans they continued to form an important part of Egyptian Islamic society and existed as an influential group until the nineteenth century. They destroyed the Crusader kingdoms of Outremer, and saved Syria, Egypt and the holy places of Islam from the Mongols. They made Cairo the dominant city of the Islamic world in the later Middle Ages, and under these apparently unlettered soldier-statesmens’ rule, craftsmanship, architecture and scholarship ... moreflourished. Yet the dynasty remains virtually unknown to many in the West. The dynasty had two phases. From 1250 to 1381 the Bahri clique produced the Mamluk Sultans; from 1382 until 1517 the Burgi Mamluks were dominant. These groups were named after the principal regiments provided by the Mamluks for the last Ayyubid sultan Al-Salih whom they served before overthrowing him in 1250; the Bahirya or River Island regiment. Based on a river island in the centre of Cairo and the Burgi or Tower regiment.
