Dating to the late 19 th century or very early twentieth century. And probably from Pakistan or India; it measures a very decent 25” long by 9.5” wide. It is painted with verses from the Koran. In ink, on both sides, and has a top handle with simply carved decoration. It is difficult to find similar pieces for sale, as they are quite rare. Can be used as JARDINIERE.PLANTRER POT.Has holes for fixing the handle(see photo) Item made by hand from brass, and decorated with emboss hand-stamped, and hand-engraed typical Islamic patterns. Foots and opening are decorated with a pattern of straight lines. Pot was made by primitive way, with using hand tools. It's slightly asymmetrically and has matt green patina inside. All this indicates, that the item is very old- more than 100 years old. Pot has aging damage- the rim of bottom is bent in some places. And has a few cracks. Attractive Old Antique Islamic Persian Pottery Bottle Vase. This is a charming piece that I personally love. But I have to sell it unfortunately. I'm not sure of its age but it certainly has some age to it. It is in very good condition for its age too. As you will see from the photos. The design is cheerful. Charming, and simple but just a gorgeous thing to have in any collection. There is some islamic script or signature on the base and I believe the vase to be Persian in origin. The stopper sits happily on the top. But is very loose fitting so is more of a cover than a tight fitting top that a decanter stopper would be on a modern vessel. Fine Quality Antique Islamic Arabic Solid Silver Box; Alexandria, Egypt 1944-45
Fine Quality Antique Islamic Solid Silver Box. With a Second World War interest. S killfully hand made and hand chased all over with fine Arabic calligraphy. It features a full set of hallmarks to the base. These indicate that it was assayed at Alexandria in Egypt in 1944-45 and tested to be of fine 900 grade solid silver. The dedication on the base reads Lt Col RL Moss RA(acting Lt QM) from'Q' Staff 381 P.O.W camp. 381 Camp was a Prisoner of War camp situated at El Daaba. A village, railway station and RAF base situated about 180km west of Alexandria. The base was used by the united states army air force as well as the RAF during the north African campaign. At one time it was held by the German Africa Korps and used by the luftwaffe. Lt Col RL Moss was originally commissioned into the 4th Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment on 18th ... moreJune 1913. He qualified as a machine gun instructor in India and later commanded 282 Company Machine Gun Corps in Iraq during the first world war. He left the army in 1922 but volunteered again in September 1939 and was granted an emergency Commission in the Royal Artillery. He served in France with the British Expeditionary Force before being evacuated. Later during the second world war he served as a quartermaster at 381 POW camp. Egypt. specializing in distributing supplies. Interestingly in this regard. According to reports made by the ICRC, working prisoners received 2000 calories per day but bread was quite scarce and food tended to be monotonous. For example fresh vegetables were prepared seldom or never at all. Apparently the loss of weight of prisoners was clearly visible. The box is beautifully proportioned at 88mm x 88mm x 40mm. Antique copper Islamic/Persian charger - finely engraved
A finely engraved copper charger of 38cms diameter. I do not know the age of this. But think it might be 19th century, and from Persia. The top is a copper colour and the back looks slightly yellow, although there is copper showing through. The number 401 has been stamped on the underside. I wonder if this is a copper top with a brass backing for extra strength? |It seems to be in good condition. I think this is all handwork, as the rim is not exactly even like a machine, but very slightly uneven as though it has been'folded' and hammered by hand. C.1850 This is beautiful mid to late 19 th century salt glaze jug or ewer from the Canakkale pottery producing region of Turkey. This example comes from the Ottoman Empire. And has a typically rich yellow and green streaked glaze with heavily incised sgraffito decoration; there is also some unusual zig-zag decoration to the handle, which alternates from glazed yellow slip to glazed bare pottery(see photos) It dates to around 1850-1880, and has two protrusions on each side, each of which has two holes– the purpose of these are unknown(they are not for hanging the jug from anything, as the holes do not go right through) This is a superb piece of antique ceramics. Here on offer is a gorgeous vintage handmade Persian Islamic brass rosewater sprinkler. These lovely things were kept by the entrance of peoples homes across the Far East. They would be used to store rosewater and sometimes orange blossom water, this would be sprinkled on guests on arrival to freshen them up after their journey and to welcome them as an honoured guest. This lovely rosewater sprinkler is beautifully decorated with stylised floral design created by by hammering a series of tiny dots into the body and base. The sprinkler has a flared pedestal foot giving it a secure base. The body that stores the rosewater or orange blossom water is a ribbed onion shape. The shoulders rise up into a long slender neck that has raised bands at intervals. It is topped with a pierced flared cap for sprinkling water. Antique large old Moroccan islamic brass black powder flask Very large uncommon powder flask from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Used to charge the local long muzzle loading guns. Used well into the 20th century and even today in festivals. Diameter without the spout is 13.5cm(about 5.3" Solid construction with thick panels. The front is adorned with the Royal Moroccan pentagram and floral motif. The back side is engraved with what appears to be a monogram. The circumference strip is also engraved with small flowers. Certainly it was supposed to be present, but its exclusion from about half the copies we have seen in the past 20 years suggests that there may have been some sort of problem at the binder back in 1893. In any case, this copy does not have the essay, and is priced accordingly. Newly bound in brown cloth. In new, pristine condition. Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Quran Manuscript. Safavid Iran 17th Century Arabic with Persian commentary Approx 250 Folios. Size approximately 11 inches x 7 inches This Safavid-era manuscript consists in a full copy of the Quran with illumination. The colophon states that the work was completed by the scribe'Abd al-Jabbar b. Abd al-Aziz on Wednesday the 22nd of Rajab. 1064(the 8th of June, 1654) Folios 1r and 2v contain fine illumination in gold and lapis lazuli with touches of malachite(light green) and red. The bottom of the second folio seems to have been cut at some point, as its lower margin has been greatly reduced. When the manuscript was placed in its current binding, these first two illuminated folios were unfortunately not aligned properly, which detracts somewhat from the symmetry of the opening pages. The verses ... moreof the Quran are written in naskhi script in black. And an elegant thuluth script in gold is employed for the headings of the surah s. Which are contained within a gold border. The verses are divided by small golden and polychrome rosettes. Catchwords in black naskhi script appear in the bottom left hand corner of the verso side of each folio; their unusual proximity to the lower edge of the folio would suggest that all of the pages of the manuscript have been cut at some point in order. Perhaps, to fit the manuscript into a new European full-leather binding. In addition to the Arabic text of the Quran. This manuscript also contains a commentary in clear Persian naskhi script in red in the margins of many verses. In keeping with the official promotion of Shi'ism by the Safavid state. Many Qur'ans of this and later periods contained a Shi'i commentary in Persian, and this manuscript is no different. Hadith s from the fifth Imam. OLD ANTIQUE MOROCCAN KOUMMYA JAMBIYA ISLAMIC DAGGER NO SHAMSHIR SWORD
Being offered is a nice old antique Moroccan jambiya or koummya dagger that would date to the late 19th to early 20th century. Large horn handle. The horn having some splitting on one side and crackling(like you see on an old oil painting) on the other side. The horn is stable and holds the piece solidly. Large silver pommel cap to the top of the handle. It is silver, with a hallmark to each side of the pommel. There is a brownish staining on the pommel and also on some of the scabbard. Probably old nicotine stains or something to that effect and should clean off with some TLC. The scabbard is also silver, nicely decorated with floral designs throughout, with each side of the scabbard having two hallmarks for a total of 4 on the scabbard. Made of solid silver, cylindrical in form, with a domed lid, the interior used for storing cigarettes. The sides and the lid are decorated with chased technique to depict entwined knots and flowers in the Islamic style. The underside is marked'Kano' a city in Nigeria. The box is unmarked, but tests as solid silver. This measures 9.1 cm in height and 7.6 cm in width. It weighs 121 grams or 3.89 troy ounces. This is a Antique Moroccan Arab Jambiya Islamic Arabic Koummya Arabian Dagger. Condition is old and worn. It appears to be handmade and while the craftsman ship is good time has taken it's toll on this dagger as it should for being so old. The koummya is the characteristic traditional dagger of the Berber and Arabic peoples of Morocco. The contoured handles. Curved double-edged blades and exaggeratedly upturned scabbard tips are all features consistent with such an interpretation. In the context of the traditional regional manner of dress, the koummya is worn visibly at the left side. Generally about at the level of the waist and is suspended vertically, with the scabbard tip forward, by a long woolen baldric, attached at either end to one of the two scabbard rings, and worn crossing in front and back of the torso and over the right shoulder. ... moreThis dagger appears to be very old and does look to have been used. as there are two small dents in the scabbard.
