CLASSIC INDUS VALLEY SEALS CLASSIC INDUS SEALS Mohenjo-Daro 2500 BC Stone tablets. Quartzite-limestone composite, 1.25 inches square(30 mm) one inch(25 ... moremm) on black acrylic mount, with display stand& back-label ID. Museum replicas from the Indus Seals Collection of Pakistan's Islamabad Museum. classic Indus Valley seals recovered from Mohenjo Daro during the 1930's. As was the custom. Indus Valley pictographs record a proverb of the day in a language which remained undeciphered until the turn of the century. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND The ancient Veddic civilization of the Indus Valley at Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa arose in western India contemporary with Sumeria around 3000 BC and flourished until tectonic changes caused the great river to change direction around 1500 BC. Indus seals were used differently to the text-and-seal administration of Mesopotamia and generally assumed the form of an amulet with a cryptic saying or religious proverb. The evidence of wear and abrasion shows their main use was visual identification and giving legitimacy to the owner rather than making numerous impressions. The language is considered a close relative of the mysterious pictographic script used by the Elamites and was finally deciphered by the aging German linguist Kurt Schildman in the late 1990’s. Who related it to the surviving pictographic scripts of East Asia and Korea and found it displayed a language style remarkably similar to Old Persian. Schildman’s students have now published translations of many of the seals revealing the Indus Valley’s true Veddic origins. SAFE& SECURE PAYPAL PARCELS ARE SHIPPED FLAT RATE AIRMAIL FROM AUSTRALIA. Allowing for customs. Usual TRANSIT TIME is about 8 to 10 DAYS. Parcels are WELL PACKED to ensure safe delivery. Usually recycled boxes and dispatched soon after payment confirmation. You will be NOTIFIED BY EMAIL. Ask for COMBINED POSTAGE with MULTIPLE PURCHASES. Ask for"EXPRESS POST" if international Tracking Number required. For HEAVY parcels. Less expensive SEA MAIL

ANCIENT INDUS VALLEY TERRACOTTA BULL c 3000 BC . VOTIVE FIGURE . GLAZED
In my opinion a most interesting example of c 3000 bc INDUS VALLEY. HAND MADE POTTERY: A VERY FINE VOTIVE BULL FIGURE, WITH LARGE HORNS, TRADITIONAL"HUMP" BACK AND TAIL. This examplke has an unusual almost"salt glazed" feel, with a veined, irregular texture to the body of the bull: you will see from the pictures that the colour is a mixture of browns, red-browns. The figure obviously is an interesting reference example. I bought this from an Antiquity dealer at Bartlet Street Antiques Centre, Bath, in the late 1990's. The item is in fine reference order. Both horns have been rstored. With breaks to both, there is also a small amount of slice fritting/nibble chipping to the hump of the bull. No restoration or further damage.Combined postage offered. Height at 4.85 inches. Length is at 4.5 inches and depth at 2 inches. ... moreI will happily ship to China and Brazil. But only with the tracked signed for option. Terms& Conditions of sale included within the"ME" section of ebay.

Ancient Indus Valley Pottery Mother Goddess Fertility Statue Figure - 3500 BC
A wonderful ancient Indus Valley. Bronze Age pottery statue, dating to the fourth Millennium B.C. A charming terracotta of a standing female goddess with bird-like features. Her hair rolled into vertical buns, her large breasts protruding from under an elaborate collar with central medallion. This piece dates to the Mehrgarh periods IV- VI. Approximately 3500-2800 B.C. It is now believed that the pottery of Mehrgarh supercedes that of Mesopotamia in being the earliest known polychrome ceramics produced by Humans. Exciting new evidence from Mehrgarh during this period has come to light recently, showing us that these people had knowledge of dentistry! The little known Indus Valley Culture flourished throughout large areas of modern India and Pakistan in the 3rd Millennium B.C. Along the Indus, a river arising from the snowy Himalayan mountains. ... moreWhen the snow melted in the spring, the river used to flood, providing fertile soil and the perfect conditions for civilization to develop. Public knowledge of this culture is almost non-existent in the west, largely because the major towns of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro were only discovered at the turn of the last century. However, these Bronze Age people had knowledge of town planning, sewers and sophisticated architecture long before the Greeks and Romans. Indus valley artifacts are gaining popularity on the art market as collectors start to appreciate this fascinating culture and the imaginative art that it produced. Height: 3 1/2 inches. Condition: Very good. As shown. Provenance: Ex. British private collection. Acquired 1980's. Please note: This is a genuine ancient Bronze Age fertility figure. This piece is offered for sale without reserve to promote our superb inventory of antiquities and ancient coins. Authenticity All items are unconditionally guaranteed to be Authentic as described. LARGE Ancient Late Indus Valley WATER VESSEL,circa 1300 B.C.30cm,12" ht, INTACT
Beautiful and large Ancient Indus Valley Pottery Water Vessel. Spectacular Anthropomorphic Spout. Geometric painting including double axe-head design well documented in Indus Valleys ancient artwork/symbols in black and umber pigment. There are banded sections of black pigment, both in the lower section and about the head of the vessel. This is a rare piece of ancient Indus Valley history. There is a chip to the rim approximately 3 cm long, there is still thick earth accretions more so to one side, I spent many long hours painstakingly slowly removing the accretions from one side to uncover more of the painting than could be seen when it came to my collection, and didn't feel both sides needed to be revealed as the other side will be the same. However,if you like the work and more to the point have the patience and time, then I can advise ... morehow to go about it. Being the first to see something in 3300 years or so is a bit of a thrill. Ex-My collection. From the late end of the ancient Indus Valley civilisation I believe around 1300 B.C.but may be even older or slightly earlier.Indus Valley was only discovered for the west in 1921 and excavations didn't begin till 1926 and never on the scale of ancient Egypt even though they existed at the same point in time, only a few thousand kilometres apart. Indus have been found to have been the earliest users of polychrome paints.surpassing the Mesopotamians who were thought to be the earliest, they have now been found to be the earliest practitioners of dentistry, were advanced in town planning, sewerage and water. Well worth doing an internet search or buying a book for more information. An excellent investment piece! FREE POSTAGE ANYWHERE.
LARGE Ancient Indus Valley VESSEL,,30cm d x 26.5cm ht. Very Rare FILTERING SPOUT
Beautiful and Very large Ancient Indus Valley Pottery Water Vessel. Spectacular Bovine inspired Filtering Spout. Geometric painting including double axe-heads in black pigment. There is a reattached chip to the rim approximately 3cm long, the spout has been reattached, both repairs have been done very well, there is still thick earth accretions mainly to the lower half. Most importantly this has a positive Thermoluminescence Test Report dating this piece to 3110 years Before Present +/25% Late Indus Civilisation is put at 1300 B.C. which puts this magnificent vessel into the Indus Culture quite comfortably.A more pinpoint test is more expensive and does require more material.30 cm or aprox 12"diameter and 26.5 cm or approximately 10 1/2" high.Ex-My Australian collection. From the late end of the ancient Indus Valley civilisation ... moreI believe around 1300 B.C.Indus Valley was only discovered for the west in 1921 and excavations didn't begin till 1926 and never on the scale of ancient Egypt even though they existed at the same point in time, only a few thousand kilometres apart. THIS IS THE REAL THING. 100% AUTHENTIC ANCIENT ITEM! The Indus Valley civilization was rediscovered in 1920-21 when engraved seals were unearthed in the Punjab province of Pakistan at a site called Harappa. A name which is often used to describe the civilization as a whole. Subsequent excavations at Harappa revealed ... morethe size and complexity of this ancient city. Other sites were unearthed as well along the banks of the Indus River, including the equally large city of Mohenjodaro. Through archaeological and historical research, we can now say for certain that a highly developed urban civilization flourished in the Indian subcontinent over five thousand years ago. Though the Indus Valley script remains undeciphered, the numerous seals, statuary, and pottery discovered during excavations, not to mention the urban ruins, have enabled scholars to construct a reasonably plausible account of the Indus Valley civilization. Some kind of centralized state. And certainly fairly extensive town planning, is suggested by the layout of the great cities of Harappa and Mohenjodaro. The same kind of burnt brick appears to have been used in the construction of buildings in cities that were several hundred miles apart. The weights and measures also show a very considerable regularity, suggesting that these disparate cities spread out across a vast desert shared a common culture. The Indus Valley people domesticated animals, and harvested various crops, such as cotton, sesame, peas, barley, and cotton. Indus
