Here is a wonderful. Indian Trade ax. Used by white men and others as a trade items with many different Indians tribes. Head is about 5" long x 2 1/2"Bit x 1 3/4" Head, pitted. Heads like this were sold at most trading post for use or trade. No markings. Also used in battle by Indians. Please study the pictures as I am no expert on this type of artifact. It is my understanding that this item was found along the Mississippi River. It was found by someone searching the low water areas a few years ago when the river was at record lows. I had intended to go over and do the same but never made it, wish I had as I have heard a lot of interesting items were found. Thanks for looking!

Unmarked hatchet with hand crafted and imperfect features(see images) The hand forged. Hatchet head has a rockaway, hewing shape. The head features a rounded. Broad cutting edge that tapers to notches at the eye. It is Marked or Stamped with a Name or Maker's Mark that looks like CHANEY CO. but just not sure. Please let me know if you have any info. on this marking. It looks Very Old. The Shape of the Blade or Head is Like a"Butterfly" or Bowtie-Shaped. It has a Narrow Hafted Center and Each side Curves up and then Levels Off. Instead of a like a Felling Batwing Style. Also, the Opening is thick at top and bottom. It measures about 15.5 inches long from top to butt of handle. It measures about 7 1/4 inches across at head from edge to edge and about 3 inches on cutting edge, from top to bottom on each side. It seems pretty Heavy for Throwing, but not sure. It looks to have Original Handle, but has had a Shim or wedge put in at some point. The handle is Very Tight. The Condition looks Great to me. It has Great Old Aged Patina.
