There is a hairline extending from the rim. In towards the center of the bowl. There is a large, very old chip on the inside rim and another few smaller ones. There is also a very tiny chip on the foot of the base. The piece has crazing throughout. Despite it's imperfections, the colors are still nice and bright and the piece displaysvery nicely. Here's a Neat Antique Majolica Teapot with Leaf and Bow Decoration. Offered at NO RESERVE! I believe the teapot is Etruscan, but I could be wrong on that, there are no visible markings. The decoration is kind of odd in that there is one bow and three leaves, all in green glaze, but in no particular pattern. Obviously well used, there is heavy crazing on the interior and lower areas of the exterior, a chip to the handle of the top, and I'm not sure about the spout: It looks ground but I did see a couple similar examples with the same flat treatment to the spout so maybe not. I did not attempt any cleaning and it is offered directly from an old Estate that I'm cleaning out. The teapot stands approximately 6 and 1/2" tall and is about 7 and 1/2" from spout to handle. Here is a Beautiful Colorful Etruscan Majolica Leaf Dish. It measures over 8-3/4" long and 6-1/2" wide. It has pretty colors of yellow to pink to green with brown spots in center. There are a couple of chips on the edge of this very old dish. Not really noticable. I have taken pictures showing these small chips. DESCRIPTION: Lovely demi-suite of Etruscan-Revival jewelry. Set within its original leather case with faded green velvet is a brooch/pendant with matching earrings for pierced ears. Each piece is made of 15 kt yellow gold(tested) and has thin. Applied gold wiring to lend a basket-weave type of design frequently used in Etruscan-Revival jewelry of the 1870's. The motif of this suite is flowers nestled in gold leaves and pearls. The center of each piece. The flower, is set with faceted amadine garnets with captivating color. The leaves surrounding the flowers are very detailed and naturalistic. The brooch also bears three small pearls in the center of the leaves, as do the tops of the earrings. Pear-shaped garnets dangle from the bottom of the earrings. The brooch/pendant has its original"C" clasp. I had a gold"hiding" ... morebale added so that the brooch could also be worn as a pendant. When worn as a pin. However, the bale can be pushed down into the body of the pin and is not noticeable when worn. The earrings are"day-night" earrings meaning that in all their full glory they are intended for evening wear. However. During the day, one can simplify them by removing the bodies from the top part for simple earrings. MEASUREMENTS: Brooch pendant: 1" by 1" Earrings: 1-3/4" long and main body is 3/8" wide. RARE ANTIQUE MAJOLICA LEAF DISH DICE ETRUSCAN CALLING CARD WHIMSY TRAY POKER WOW
I am downsizing my Majolica collection. So have decided to sell my RARE RARE ANTIQUE MAJOLICA ETRUSCAN WARE FOOTED LEAF DISH with DICE WHIMSY CALLING CARD TRAY. Calling card trays were very popular in Victorian times. I have only seen these two other times. These are extremely rare in any condition and highly sought after. This charming little dish measures 4 3/4" long X 4 3/8" at the widest point of the leaf. It sits 1" tall from leaf edge to foot. Each of the three dice measure 1/2" square and sit another 1/2" above the leaf. This wonderful little dish is a deep rich forest green with fine details. There are hundreds of raised leaf veins on the top side as well as 3 dice! This has a wonderful 3D effect. It really is charming. The underside of the dish is a paler pea green, has a smooth surface and is marked with ... morea raised" 11" Although the numbers are backward. There is a very old chip on the top side measuring 1/4" The glaze as well as the clay foundation is flaked off. But honestly, who cares? You will look long and hard to find another of these. This displays beautifully with perfect patina and antique look! I have collected Majolica for many, many years and hate to part with this, as I know I will most likely not find another. There is a bit of roughness here and there along the thin delicate leaf edges, nothing that stands out or really even shows; rather it can be"felt" upon touch. This is the nature of Majolica, also the beauty of it, as the clay is very soft, easily damaged. The unglazed foot rim has a couple very old rough spots, again I would expect this on an antique piece of Majolica. The rich deep glaze is just glorious! This is a rare rare calling card whimsy tray. There is one brown mark on the back that looks like 1 1. It is majolica. So a soft paste pottery,we saw two hairlines and one glaze chip(1/2 the size of my pinkie fingernail. It measures approx. 12" x 9 3/4" We acquired this piece just 17 miles south of Phoenixville, PA from an old estate sale. Etruscan Majolica was a brand name given to the earthenware pottery created first by Griffen. Smith and Hill, then later manufactured by Griffen, Smith and Company; Griffen, Love and Company; and Griffen China Company, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania in the years between 1879 and 1892. Here is their story as written by J.F. PIRRO and published in 2012 on the Mainline. It all began in 1867 with the Phoenix Pottery. Kaolin and Fire Brick Company. Taking advantage of kaolin deposits in Chester Springs, the clay pits near Phoenixville’s Main Street and a quarry in Schuylkill Township, Phoenixville’s W.A.H.
