Offered today is a set of 8 matching beautiful Gorham Etruscan salad or dessert forks. All excellent condition. I have used these since 1954 when I received them for wedding gifts. I have never washed them in a dishwasher. I have never used the"dip" type of cleaner on them. In fact. I have cleaned them very slightly as I have always washed them in hot soapy water and polished them dry with a dry soft towel and then stored them in a non tarnish silver chest. So they really never needed to be polished with silver polish. These are beautiful pieces. Just as nice now as when I started buying them in the 1950s. This is a very old pattern for Gorham. Originally patented in 1912. It came in many sizes and weights. These are heavy perfect pieces. The set of 8 weighs about 10 ounces(1.27 ounce per fork) I gave most of the set to my son when ... morehe married about 25 years ago. Finest of the Fine. Victorian carved and Etruscan 18k bead necklace! This unusual necklace features 18k etruscan beads with granulation. Dating it to the 1880s, give or take a few decades. The etruscan beads are interspaced with carved lapis colored beads. They are a natural material that is dyed. I do not believe they are lapis, rather a carved animal material. I have never seen beads like this before they are very unusual. The beads are strung on a sterling foxtail chain that is all original. This necklace is in EXCELLENT condition with no repairs. The entire piece measures 28" and weighs 60 grams(almost exactly) One unusual feature is a removable section that gives the wearer the option of making it shorter or longer. Despite being stored away for 15 yrs this piece still has the same strong incense smell it originally came to me with. ... moreI thought it was unusual when I first received it but now I am surprised it still has the same, distinct perfume scent after many years in storage! Perhaps this necklace was ment to carry a perfume. The carved beads have a pomander style that is pierced with lattice work which would aptly hold a scent! The patina to the gold beads is perfect and rich. A little about the provenance. I originally bought this necklace at Freemans Auction House in Philadelphia 15yrs ago. It was sold with a huge estate of antique jewelry that was being broken up and sold individually. This necklace has not been worn since being aquired by me, I have kept it in storage. Big and bold. Classic and chic, this vintage Etruscan charm bracelet has a coveted and iconic Etruscan crown fob as its centerpiece. Hint: When you find one of these hard-to-find crown fobs, grab it! The crown charm is about 1 3/8" tall from the top of the bale to the bottom of the cabochon, and the other charms are about equal to that in height. Such great colors on the cabochons here—rich greens, lapis blue, and a tawny reddish amber. Note the Etruscan details, as well-dimensional repousse' florets, granulation dots, and, of course, ropelike cannetille work. I love the shared patina on each piece; the charms and the bracelet itself have just the right mix of shine, oxidation, and soft patina from decades of surface wear. A rare bronze section of ancient embossed parade armor.Possibly Venetic,Illyrian or Roman,reportedly found along the Dalmation coast in present day Croatia(the west coast of former Yugoslavia)It measures 3.25"x 3.5" and though fragmentary is a solid piece.It shows a wavey hair design on thin bronze sheet and is embossed in high relief.There are several holes punched through the fragment that would have functioned as a hinging place or an area of ancient repair.This very likely was part of a parade helmet and would have been located along the side of the head,possibly part of a cheekpiece.I have no provenence but this item is not a reproduction.
