It's a seldom seen pattern. Condition: Very good- no silver wear or loss other than some minor scratches inside the bowl. There are no monograms and the pattern is crisp and well defined. This is an exceptional example of Griffen.Hill and Smith majolica with the rare early mark. It has some crazing and one small edge chip, also some discoloration on the back. Despite this, I would rate this piece exceptional for its age( you just don't find them like this) There are no cracks. Without a doubt any of these Etruscan pieces made between 1879 in 1892 will have faded some over the years. I personally find the color of this piece outstanding. I have tried to picture this piece well and describe it accurately but feel free to ask questions. This measures about 9 inches in length and just under 7 inches wide. Here we have a small vase made by Blue Mountain Pottery. In the etruscan glaze. A harder to find little piece, with speckles of black on a lighter brown or tan base. The bottom half is of a bulbous shape and becomes thinner at the neck and top. It measures 7 3/4" tall and is approx. 3" across the widest point of the middle. This piece is in excellent gently pre-owned condition. Free of any chips, nicks or cracks from what I can see. There appears to be an area with some glue residue from a sticker that was once previously affixed. The vase is marked"BMP. 738, Canada" on the red clay bottom. This vase in the etruscan glaze would make a great gift or would look wonderful on display with the rest of your BMP collection! WEDGWOOD scarce SILVER-PLATED on STONEWARE ETRUSCAN shape JUG, c1890
In the late 19th century. Wedgwood experimented with metallic plating of bas-relief stonewares and other dry-bodies. It consisted of an elaborate and tedious process and was designed to simulate polished silver and other metals. The undercoating– first layer- was of copper on the glazed ceramic and then silver was electro-plated over it. The experiment was an expensive failure and very few objects were made and put into the marketplace. Offered here is a traditional shape Etruscan Jug with classical bas-relief designs produced with this patina silver finish. The applied relief decoration appears as if gold-applied. But it is simply the result of polishing that ultimately wore off, quite evenly, the silver on the high points as shown, and thus exposing the copper underlay. Bakewell. Pears and Co. Etruscan plate measures 10.5" across. It is massively heavy and flint- crystal clear and rings like a bell. There are plenty of inclusions in the glass. There is surface wear, and one scallop has 2 chips, not large or detracting, but yet there. Plates seem to be a rarer form for any pattern glass, and this is the first flint plate I have ever offered. Chips might be visible in the enlarged photograph- see the large scallop at about ten o'clock- appears as mold roughness.

Showing typical archaic features, with almond-shaped eyes, slim nose and pursed lips. The hair faintly incised, with a firing hole at the top-back. It has a small repaired/restored chip to the end of its handle and a couple very minute wear/glaze flecks to its rim which were also hand touched up by a studio artist and are being mentioned here solely for record. This is a nice example of Griffin.Hill and Smith majolica with great color. It has less crazing than most. There are three edge chips in the glaze visible from the top and one that is visible from the bottom. There are no cracks. In my opinion, the color on this one is above average, and the condition is above average. This one has a small crusty spot in the littlle well. I'm not sure if I just needs cleaning or if some glaze accumulated there. I have a total of five pieces I will be listing at this time. 19th c. ETRUSCAN REVIVAL Gold BROOCH w AMETHYST Signed
This is a beautifully crafted antique 19th century Etruscan Revival brooch with Amethyst cabochons. The brooch is gold. Testing strongly with 14K test solution and less strongly with 18K, so it probably is about 15K or 16K gold. The design is accented with two 12 mm cabochon amethysts in the top section and a 10 mm amethyst in the pendant section. The surface of the brooch is decorated with very delicate Etruscan revival twisted wirework and beading as well as the word"ROMA" spelled out in gold relief. The pin stem is stamped with a hallmark, and I'll post a close up of that mark below. There are two empty loops along the bottom edge and possibly a chain or design element was suspended from these at one time. The original"C" clasp on the back was replaced with a safety locking clasp at some time in the past. The total ... moreweight of the pin is 20.7 grams. The Following items come from a large estate sale of a late. Affluent, world traveler from a historic section of West Hartford CT. Many of the antiques, oddities, and collectibles were acquired during a lifetime of global travel and antiquing. Items will be described to the best of our ability. For more treasures from this collection please! You are bidding on an old antique majolica leaf plate. Has a brownish-beige base color with transcending zones of reds. Greens, and purples. There are ribs/veins in the leaf itself and the rim is serrated leaf-like. Looking at the crazing, patterns, and similar items found on the web, I believe this piece to be late 18th century- 19th century. There is crazing on the face and on the reverse. Glazed entirely. There are chips along the rim and closer inspection looks like age staining under the glaze where ... morethe crazing is. On the reverse is a chip hole(pic 11) Which is dark in color as the area has been exposed to whatever elements throughout its age. On the reverse is a very old price sticker from whatever antique shop it came out of. This was hand-written. Pre-barcode era. Whatever year it was purchased its price was $40. Today's value is obviously much higher. The price sticker also appears to be covering up the makers mark(if this particular piece had one) 7¾" long. 5½" wide, 1¾" tall sold as-is.
