Hello and welcome to my auction for: Egyptian Royal Scarab Beetle Of Pharaoh Thothmus III(Thutmose III) Circa 1450 BC/BCE(Before Common Era) This scarab dates from circa 1450 BC making it over 3400 years old! The scarab is made of Glazed Steatite and the cartouche is that of the Pharaoh Thothmus III(I have highlighted the cartouche in black using photoshop in one of the images) It measures: 15.46mm x 11.50mm x 6.95mm. It also has a hole running through it's length where it was mounted on cord. Thutmose III(sometimes read as Thutmosis or Tuthmosis III. Thothmes in older history works, and meaning Thoth is born) was the sixth Pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty. During the first twenty-two years of Thutmose's reign he was co-regent with his stepmother, Hatshepsut, who was named the pharaoh. While he is shown first on surviving monuments, ... moreboth were assigned the usual royal names and insignia and neither is given any obvious seniority over the other.3] He served as the head of her armies. After her death and his later rise to being the pharaoh of the kingdom. Offered is an unmarked silver demitasse spoon is in the style of the pattern by George Ittig from1909. It's 4 3/8 inches long and depicts a scarab beetle emerging from a lotus flower. Clutching an Earth disk in its hind legs and a winged Sun disk in its fore legs. There are some minor surface scratches, wear to the underside bowl of the spoon, and a dent to the spoon bowl that looks like it's from being caught in a drawer when it was closed- it isn't major, and could be smoothed out by a jeweler or smith, or you, if you're handy; I just don't have the cushioned mallet and properly curved anvil-like surface to bump it out, but to me, the tiny dent doesn't detract from the specialness of the piece- all the action is up top, and it is really a nice example of early 20th Century Egyptian Revival, and from just after the ... morediscovery of King Tut's Tomb. From the looks of the wear on the bottom, it looks to be plated, and is most likely sterling plated. My grandmother got this for a wedding present in 1925. This item is a vintage/antique demitasse spoon for which the age is uncertain; however. The Egyptian design(named"Antique Egyptian" appears to be the one patented in 1909 by George Ittig and used by several makers of flatware. There is no mark for metal content or maker on the reverse of the spoon, which measures approximately 4-3/8" in length. The wonderful design depicts the Egyptian scarab beetle emerging from a lotus blossom. The scarab is holding two orbs, the sun in its front legs and the earth in its back legs, and there are wings framing the scarab- a truly beautiful design! It looks like it is made with some kind of bisque material and I think it has a soft. Aqua blue glaze that has a hand painted gilt finish, but I'm not sure. It has a thin wire loop at the top and there are textured grooves in the surface that mimic the separation of wings and head. This pendant measures 4 cm long x 3 cm wide x 1 cm deep. Vintage Sterling Silver Authentic Egyptian Black Scarab Charm/ Pendant
Vintage Sterling Silver Authentic Black Egyptian Scarab Pendant You are bidding on a vintage 1960's Sterling Silver Authentic Black Egyptian Scarab Pendant. This pendant is part of my own collection and was given to me by my grandmother after she went on a trip to Egypt. This Pendant is hallmarked in Arabic on the side of the sterling as shown in the last photo above. This pendant has been sitting in my jewelry box for many years. And needs a good cleaning. The pendant is not damaged, and has an elaborate bale with designs on it. The Egyptian scarab is unusual in that it is made out of a black stone of some sort, and it does have the engraved images on the back. This is a lovely pendant that could also be placed on a charm bracelet if one chose. However, I wore this scarab around my neck and not placed on a charm bracelet because of its ... moresize and weight. The pendant is flat on the back, curved on the top surface with the engraved lines of the Dung Beetle, and the sterling silver setting is simple and secure. The sterling currently has a medium sterling patina to it with some tarnish that would clean up nicely. This pendant has the simple design on the front as shown in the several photos above. The photos above are a close-up picture of the pendant from several views. Including a close up of the hallmark on the side. This pendant measures approximately 1 1/16" in length including the loop but not the bale, by 5/8" in width, by 5/16" deep. I do not polish the pendants/ charms or bracelets I sell on Ebay, leaving that decision to the buyer. This is a lovely vintage pendant that would be a lovely item for anyone to wear. This estate item consists of a silver and blue scarab bracelet and two matching additional scarabs with ear wires. The earrings also have a ring on them and could be worn as a pendant on a chain. There are no markings on these pieces but they do appear to be hand crafted with the scarabs set in silver plate. They remind me of items you occasionally see in National Geographic or The Metropolitan Museum of Art catalogues
