When I first saw these bowls and realized they ... morewere in perfect condition, I was suspicious of their authenticity. We have looked at them very closely and I had a knowledgeable friend check them out. These three ancient Pre-Columbian Bowls are guaranteed to be authentic. The first bowl is the smallest of the three. It measures 4 ½ inches in diameter by 2 ¾ inches tall. The top edge has a crimped and the outside has a hand painted diamond design. The second Pre Columbian Bowl is 6 ½ inches in diameter by 4 ¼ inches tall. This pedestal bowl is hand painted around the outside with a black over red design. You can also see a whitish residue on both the inside and outside, which is ancient. The third and last ancient Pre Columbian Bowl in this auction has an unusual form. The top measures approximately 6 inches square and it is 5 5/8 inches at its tallest point. There is a faint hand painted decoration around the outside. All three ancient Pre Columbian Bowls in this auction come with an unconditional guarantee that the high bidder will be totally satisfied with the age, quality, condition and authenticity or all of their money will be returned. If you get a chance please check out our other eBay auctions. W

Vintage Colima Terracotta Art Pottery Sitting Stars God Figurine Sculpture
Vintage Colima Terracotta Art Pottery Sitting Stars God Figurine Sculpture. Welcome you are viewing a great terracotta from Colima Mexico. Is a Sitting stars God. Using a strange suit. It looks like, it's from West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE- 300 CE. but I believe this beauty was made 10 or 12 years ago using the same technique as 1000. Years ago. This Colima figurine sculpture is in the form of stars God? The surfaces shows this culture's signature duotone. Red and brown slip decoration, that was meticulously. Burnished to create a lustrous finish. The ancient Colima culture never built extensive pyramid complexes found in other parts of Mesoamerica; however. They were obsessed with the cult of the live and deceased. The indigenous buried their dead in deep shaft-chamber tombs. Which were filled with rich ceramics. Regardless of ... morehis identity. The piece is striking for its animated nature. This beauty I, believe is a very fine new pottery from Colima Mexico Very original sculpture. Extra add to your home décor or great addition to your indigenous art collection. Measure 10 1/2 inch high x 6 inches wide x 4 D' weight 1.10 LBS It look in excellent vintage looking. Circa 200 B.C. 200 A.D. This hollow formed canine figure represents one of the most adored and sought after types of Pre-Columbian sculpture. The tail forms the spout of the hollow body of the dog, which is formed in typical fashion after the openings of the shaft and chamber tombs, which have so well preserved these wonderful forms of funerary art where they were placed as offerings. Dogs are believed to have significance in the beliefs of ancient West Mexican inhabitants, as guides into their version of the afterlife. This dog is likely portrayed as pregnant, rather than fat, thought to be representational of the ancient Escuincle breed of hairless Mexican dog. ... moreMeasures approximately 12 3/4" long, by about 7 1/4" tall and 5 1/2" wide. This auction is for a rare and interesting Pre-Columbian Colima carved stone animal head. Possibly representing a Tapir(American native pig) circa 200 B.C. 200 A.D. Colima carved stone objects are rare. The carving most likely depicts the head of a Tapir. Which is a type of pig/hog native to the ancient Americas. The carving is quite detailed and animated, exhibiting a great deal of skill on the part of the ancient maker. Measures about 2 3/4" tall, made from a hard greenish colored stone known from the region, similar to the kind of stone that Mezcala stone figures were made from in nearby regions. Condition: Fragmentary. Possibly broken at the neck, although it may have been intentionally made this way, with the neck showing unfinished/rough stone material. Minor abrasions, scuffs, chipping, weathering and wear, with a small amount ... moreof adhesive residue from an old collection sticker on one side, that can probably be removed with acetone. Provenance: Found by Lynn Langdon in Mexico between the 1940's to early 1960's. Colima. West Mexico, Nayarit, Jalisco, Mezcala, Pre-Columbian, Pre-Colombian.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2Bf54%3E-147867aff42-0x10e-

This piece is very unusual due to its size and weight. This item will be double boxed for shipping) I will pick up the cost of Insurance FREE) History Translated from the Nahuatl language. Colima’s name derives from a combination of colli meaning ancestors or gods. And maitl. Meaning domain. For 25 centuries the region has nurtured a succession of cultures. Because of its ... moreremote location and lack of elaborate artifacts or monumental public works this western Mexican state did not attract interest from archeologists or researchers until recently. Today Colima is renowned for its multitude of ancient shaft tombs and extraordinary dog ceramics. Despite stylistic conventions. Colima dogs accurately depict innumerable distinctive canine behaviors. The postures, gestures and expressions reveal careful observation, attention to detail and masterful technique rather than any attempt at mass production. Realistic forms predominate, but dogs are also portrayed in elaborate burial dioramas or mysteriously perched on the shoulders of priests or warriors. The most recognizable motif is a pair of dancing or fighting dogs. Most Colima dogs are sleek and smooth but one member of this pair often exhibits deeply incised concentric lines on the face and body. Delineated ribs and vertebrae, and a raised tail to symbolize hairlessness. This mutation occurs regularly in all mammals and zoologist Glover Allen surmised that it first appeared in the Mesoamerican dog population 3500 years ago. By the time of European arrival. Hairless dogs were prevalent throughout Mexico,

Pair of Pre-Columbian Colima Black & Red Vessels, Ancient West Mexico
An attractive pair of vessels from Pre-Columbian West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. likely attributed to the ancient Colima culture of West Mexico. The largest piece measures about 5" tall, while the smaller of the two measures about 3 1/2" tall. One vessel is finished in black, while the other is black. The form of the body of each vessel features a squared bottom lobe, topped by a rounded neck on the larger jar, with each having a flared rim. These display nicely as a pair. Condition: Intact and in original as-found condition. With minor chipping, abrasions weathering and wear. Otherwise, rootmarks, sediment and mineral deposits indicative of an ancient piece. Provenance: Former Lynn Langdon collection. Personally collected by Langdon in West Mexico between the 1940's- 1960's.
Large Pre-Columbian Colima Zoomorphic Incense Cover, Ancient West Mexico
A rare and fascinating zoomorphic incense cover from Pre-Columbian West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. likely attributed to the ancient Colima culture of West Mexico. This piece measures impressively at approximately 10" long by about 7 1/2" wide and about 6" tall. The form of the piece is complex. The handle appears to have been formed to represent the arched or undulating body of a lizard or snake, resting atop the dome-like body of the cover. The cover body features multiple rib-like ridges, perhaps meant to imply that the zoomorph is sitting atop a desert mound(with the ridges perhaps representing an eroded and blown sand landscape) Three feet on the bottom of the dome allow for this to function as a cover over a burnt offering(possibly copal incense) ensuring sufficient air can keep the substance smoldering, while the ... moredome-like lid allows for the area to retain heat sufficient to keep burning. Vessels of this type are well-documented in archaeological finds from this region, attributed to this function. Condition: Body is intact. With a repair at the neck of the head(with restoration over the break) and loss of the tail. Otherwise minor chipping, abrasions weathering and wear. Sediment and mineral deposits remain, indicative of an ancient piece. The underside exhibits staining from the burning of incense beneath this cover. Provenance: Former Lynn Langdon collection. Personally collected by Langdon in West Mexico between the 1940's- 1960's.
Pre-Columbian Colima Orangeware Olla, Ancient West Mexico
An attractive small orangeware olla from Pre-Columbian West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. This piece measures about 3 1/2" wide by about 2 3/4" tall, and is likely attributed to the ancient Colima culture of West Mexico. The body features knob-like protrusions around the center of the exterior, and exhibits a lovely form. Condition: Intact and in original as-found condition. With minor chipping, abrasions weathering and wear. There is about a 3/4" long trowel or shovel impact loss line on the bottom of one side, with stable stress lines extending from that point of contact. Otherwise, sediment and mineral deposits indicative of an ancient piece. Provenance: Former Lynn Langdon collection. Personally collected by Langdon in West Mexico between the 1940's- 1960's.
