The large center bezel is intended to mimic a large, round cabochon gemstone. Flanking the center gemstone were originally six bronze granules, 2mm in diameter, and done in such as way as to resemble gemstone accents. Of course, there are no gemstones, but the ring presents the“flavor” of a seven gemstone ring. If you look closely, you can see that one of the six“gemstone accents” was lost sometime in antiquity. You might also notice that the large center gemstone is accented with a very fine beaded chain perimeter. What incredibly fine workmanship.
