A wonderful genuine ancient Byzantine. Cast bronze cross pendant. Bearing Christ crucified to one side and Christ risen to the other, both top and bottom are hinged and it encloses an internal reliquary compartment. Probably a metal detector find, it dates from the 6th-7th century AD, it's in very good condition for its age, with light wear, encrusted dirt and one lower hinge clip missing. It weighs 45 grams and measures 3 ¼ x 1 ¾ inches overall. The final photo shows it with a US penny(1 cent) coin for scale. Which measures 19 mm/ ¾ of an inch diameter.
