Rare Copy Popular Antiquities 1845
Very Rare First Edition by Charles Knight titled( Old England: A Pictorial Museum of Regal Ecclesiastical. Baronial, Municipal, and Popular Antiquities Volume 1) This book has many color engravings and HUNDREDS of Black Engravings. Most of them are in excellent condition. I have not counted the pages but they seem to be all there. The book itself is in poor condition missing the spine and a handful of pages separated with the cover. There are numerous water marks and someone has scribbled in it with a pencil. The Engravings are in excellent shape and I only noticed one that someone wrote on with a pencil. I found several websites that sell old engravings and should this book not sell I will be open to selling individual engravings at $25 each on ebay and will list the buy it now option. Item No. 5213 Original page 287 and 288(on verso) From the Rare and very important 18th Century Volume II of LE ANTICHITA DI ERCOLANO ESPOSTE, The Antiquities discovered in Herculaneum- Pompei) published 1760, on laid paper, measuring about 18.50" x 13.25" in the original Italian language. Plate marks can be readily seen and felt. The set was published in 8 volumes. With a 9th volume being the catalog(1757-1792) large pages were printed in full size from copperplate engravings. The capitol letter"D" two dolphin in water) on page 287, was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli and engraved by Carlo Nolli, and is but one of 540 other letters designed by this artist. Le Antichità di Ercolano Esposte was the most important archaeological work of the eighteenth century. Lovely cream colour slip with dark brown/black geometric bands surrounding the body. Handle and inside rim. Down turned rays on the outside rim and belly; all in classic Messapic style. Elegant high bellied body with wide rim and flaring foot. The strap handles are intact and flow right into the rim and belly. Height from base to top of the handle is 4.1 inches and 5.1 inches from handle to handle. Old collector number is lacquered underneath the foot. These are gorgeous. Hand-painted, and in good used condition! I see a nick on the 1775 Massachusetts Infantry soldier plaque on the top left corner, with very light surface wear. There appears to be small white spots on the fronts that resemble paint splatter. The back has a saw-tooth hanger. A sticker that says“Lilly Guest, Dr. J. Sullivan” and another sticker that says, American Antiquities Inc. WS3, 1575 State Highway No. 23, Butler, N.J. The 1776 Layfayette’s Light Infantry Soldier Plaque has some surface scuffs on the front. On the right side and edge, and a knick about ½” long on the backside edge. This one has the American Antiquities sticker on ... morethe back WS2, and the saw-tooth hanger as well. Approximately 23 ½” tall. 9 ½” wide, and about 1” thick. These unique wood plaques belong to my father-in-law who recently moved in with us from Ohio. He got these at a yard sale. But he is a Vietnam Veteran suffering with side effects of Agent Orange, and this affects his memory, so he can not recall when he got these, and I can’t find any company information to date them; although he did tell me he’s had them for over 15 years. It generally costs 25.60 Euros(about $35) to send one volume. But if a number are combined, and the weight stays below two kilos, then the price remains the same. PostNL charges 35.60 Euros(about $45) for weights between 2 and 5 kg, so that if more are purchased, the price of sending per item goes down considerably. If extra padding, making a larger package necessary, or if further insurance is needed(for more valuable items) then the original price of $35 will be applicable(In accordance with PostNL rates for larger packages) Combining catalogues in a package will continue to reduce the price of sending per individual unit.

WOW* MYSTERY RELIGIOUS MALE& FEMALE STONE FIGURES MEDIEVAL? ANTIQUITIES? This is a mystery pair of stone ware figures- they look religious and one is male and one is female. These are charming figures which look like they could be very old- even medieval but I realise that these are hard to date and no doubt could be reproductions so please examine the photos to make up your own mind. The figures are apprxo 12.5cm tall and have several chips which if they are very old are to be expected. If anyone can help me identify where these may have come from or any useful information then I would love to know. Overseas customers are very welcome.

Antiquities South American Pre Columbian style fetish fertility goddess figurine
This was purchased from a tag sale from an elderly couple a few years back. They seemed unclear about where it was from, they both worked for the military and had apparently found it in their travels. From our research we have ascertained that it is South American and in the manner of Pre-Columbian pottery. We are assuming that this is a tourist piece and not a period piece. In any case, it is a hand formed piece made from a red clay and painted with dark lines. It measures 2&b 1/4 inches high and 2& 1/4 inches wide at the feet. The condition is excellent, no damage or repairs. This is an unusual ceramic pottery piece. Items will be shipped USPS Priority Mail. All packages must be insured. We do not charge sales tax.
