Three rim chips and one abrasion chip on bottom. This Prehistoric Indian Water Bottle was dug on a farm in Mississippi County. Arkansas, USA prior to 1968. I purchased this piece from a rock shop in Mt. Ida Arkansas on my first cross country trip in 1968. The bottle was found on the shop owners family farm during spring planting. This Water Bottle is consistent of the style produced in the early Mississippian Period(900—1500 AD) of Native American history. It has been in my personal collection since 1968 and this is the first ... moretime in 45 years it has been offered for sale. This wonderful Water Bottle is of medium size with a short. Straight neck. Round footed base and slightly flared rim. The Water Bottle has not been professionally repaired as-unlike most ancient pottery-it was not broken and then glued back together for display. It is pottery made from river-bed clay that is has a wonderful patina. It is consistent with pieces from the middle Mississippian period from approx 750 to 500 years-old. Mississippi County. AK, which was named for the mighty Mississippi River that flows along the states Eastern border, is located in the extreme Northeast corner of Arkansas.
