The bead is super pretty, with all kinds of intricate patterns and a bunch of colours that really pop. It's made of glass, weighs 2.9 grams, and is 26.7 ... morex 7.9 mm in size. The guy who made it was a Roman dude way back in the 1st century, so it's a legit antique.

HAND CRAFTED ANTIQUE ANCIENT ROMAN GLASS SMALL BLUE JUG / VASE TRAILED BOTTLE
Holy Land Roman Glass Small Vase/ Jug/ perfume bottle Roman glass vessels were widely spread during the 1st-6th Centuries in the Holy Land and in the Roman Empire lands(pre and early Christianity( The earliest original roman blown glass vessels were found all throughout the Holy Land. The reproduction of a Roman Glass. Usually of perfume& cosmetic, is hand blown and"aged' to look ancient. It is a spectacular piece! This rare and fantastic item is a perfect reproduction hand crafted with the same ancient blown glass techniques which have been changed only little in over two thousand years. It was made in the Holy Land and although it’s a reproduction it does not harm the beauty and quality of the glass. Measurements: Height: 9 cm 3.50 inches Diameter: 4.5 cm 1.8 inches All of items I offer are“aged” reproduction(replicas) of lamps ... moreand vases. 11 x Ancient/Antique Glass Beads. Roman/Egyptian/Trade???
This is a lot of 11 x Ancient Glass Beads. Which I bought in a mixed auction lot. They are approx. 15mm by 9 mm and are all in good condition, with no chips or other damage. However, they do have that pitted look, which only comes with considerable age and they may well be Roman/Egyption or early trade beads. Basically, I do not know their age or origins and am therefore selling at auction with a 99p start price and no reserve. 1st Class Recorded Delivery within the UK is a fixed £2.00p. Normal Airmail Delivery Worldwide is a fixed £3.00p. ANTIQUE ANCIENT ROMAN & BYZANTINE & MEDIEVAL GLASS - Ernesto Wolf Collection
Roman. Byzantine and Early Medieval Glass, 10 BCE to 700 CE. Ernesto Wolf Collection" By E. Marianne Stern. Published in Ostfildern-Ruit by Hatje Cantz in 2001. DISCUSSION: Far more rare than the ceramic. Stone, and metal artifacts of ancient peoples that are the staple of archaeological museums, glassware also has a long history in Western civilization. The revolutionary Roman invention of the glassblowing iron in the 1st century BC made it possible to produce large numbers of light, thin-walled glass vessels, and resulted in an outburst of artistic creativity throughout the empire. More than 225 exquisite objects, some over 2,000 years old, are presented here in color photographs and precise descriptions-some as delicate and beautifully formed as fine glassware today. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 10"x11" 427 pages, color and line ... moreillustrations, dust jacket. CONDITION NOTES: In fine. New condition. OVERSEAS CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: This is a large. It's in the buyers best interest to have an independent valuation of an item. I also don't like auctions that offer over inflated appraisals on their jewelry. I think it's cheesy and insulting. We don't offer sizing, which helps us keep our cost down and allows us to offer auctions at no reserve.
Ancient Roman Turquoise Blue Glass Beads LOT (16 pcs) 300 – 400 AD
About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. A gold ring often contained a huge gemstone or Roman glass which was generally worn by the Senators and the bureaucrats. The common people referred as the Plebeians were allowed to wear only rings made of iron. However. Some Plebeians were awarded the right to wear the golden rings for their bravery or special service to the state. But gradually such stringent rules were relaxed during the reign of Justinian I. Women of ancient Rome were more inclined to wear multiple rings of varied materials and designs on their hands without the constraints of social classes. Roman Glass Roman jewelry has been described as an amalgamation of Eastern and Etruscan jewelry styles. Combining the use of colored stones favored in the East with manipulated goldwork typical of Etruscan jewelry. The Romans greatly favored the use of stone and glass in their jewelry, and expanded the Hellenistic tradition by foc

Soldiers would bury their coins and jewelry before going into battle, and many of them did not return. They were also buried to avoid tax collectors and thieves. In ancient times, a ring distinguished an individual in a way that other forms of jewelry did not. Finger rings represented the language of social code, and connoted one’s social standing. Under the Empire, the finger ring was still considered a privilege, conferred for military distinction. As time wore on and attitudes changed, the ring was more freely bestowed. Even so, the ring retained its position as a mark of dignity, as a rich ornament, ... moreas an important seal, and as a token of betrothal. Special caskets were created for holding rings, and it was customary to remove a ring from the casket, to place on the finger of a visiting guest welcomed into one's home. Ancient Roman Glass small perfume or oil bottle collection (4)
This is a really nice collection of very small ancient Roman glass perfume bottles that I purchased in London at an antique show around 15 years ago. The 2 standing bottles are 1.5" high x 1.25" wide. Nice patinas and sediment consistent with age. There are a couple of tiny chips on the rims but no breakage or repairs that I can see. I don't have any papers for the bottles but the seller assured me they were antiquities around 100-300 AD. Please ask questions before bidding/no returns.

It's an waste glass of the early phase of glass production during Roman times. Additional Information: Circa: 0-200 AD Style: Roman Type: Glass Origin: Israel Color: Turquoise Approximately: 30 mm x 15 mm x 20 mm Ancient Roman glass The earliest man-made glass was first produced over 2000 years before the Roman Empire. Core formed and cast glass was produced. Although in small quantities in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. It was often made to imitate semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli and turquoise. Glass vessels were initially available only to the very wealthy and only in rather diminutive sizes. They were manufactured by core forming, ... morecasting, and cutting, the invention of glass blowing around 50 BC brought glass vessels to the general public in vast numbers, mass produced in great variety of forms. In 63 BC. The Romans conquered the Syro-Palestine area. They brought back glassmakers to Rome. Soon after, the first transparent glass sheets were produced in Rome. The word vitrum, meaning glass, entered the Latin language. Rome's political, military, and economic dominance in the Mediterranean world was a major factor in attracting skilled craftsmen to set up workshops in the city, but equally important was the fact that the establishment of the Roman industry roughly coincided with the invention of glassblowing. Roman glass production Roman glass production relied on the application of heat to fuse two primary ingredients: silica and soda. Technical studies of archaeological glasses divide the ingredients of glass as formers. Fluxes, stabilizers, as well as possible opacities or colorants. Former: The major component of the glass is silica. Which during the Roman period was sand(quartz) which contains some alumina(typically 2.5% and nearly 8% lime. An Ancient Rare Blown Roman Glass Apothecary Bottle circa 200 A.D
beautifully free blown Roman glass phial(vial) or apothecary or medicine bottle of double gourd shape with a long tapering neck; the rim flattened; probably 2nd or 3rd Century AD. This is a rare example of Roman glass in excellent condition. It is free blown and made of thin. Aquamarine-tinted glass. The shape suggests it may have been intended as a medicine or apothecary bottle which would have been stopped with some sort of device, possibly a cork. It may have been designed for holding poisons. The shape of the bottle and the quality of blowing is wonderful as you can see by taking a look at the photographs below. It has a double-gourd shaped lower part with a long, tapering funnel-like neck. The rim is turned over, maybe something that was intended to allow it to stand in a wooden rack or some other kind of stand. It is in superb condition ... morewith very little surface discoloration, oxidation, and wear. I try to show the jewelry and gemstones with other things of color for accurate comparisons. eBay suggests White backgrounds.
