A pottery fragment from the time of the Second Temple of Jerusalem(530 BC-70 CE) It is encased in a plastic mold that is about 2x2 inches and an inch thick. From the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. There is a whitish line through the bottom portion near the inscription that may be on the inside(you can see it a bit in the third picture) But otherwise it is in great condition.

Modern Vechten, was a fort in the limes, the frontier zone of the Roman empire, situated at the site of the bifurcation of the rivers Rhine(which continued to the North Sea) and Vecht(to Lake Flevo and the Frisians) Numismatic evidence suggests that it was founded by the Roman general Tiberius(the future emperor) during the campaigns of 4/5. It was probably used as a military base during punitive raids. The civil settlement of Fectio was probably to the east of the fort. But excavation is not easy because there is a nineteenth-century military settlement on the site(Fort Vechten) However, the ancient fort itself is, together with Nijmegen, Vechten is one of the best excavated sites in the Netherlands; in 1894, it was the site of one ... moreof the first excavations of a Roman ship. In 40. The emperor Caligula visited Fectio when he was travelling to Lugdunum. The remains of a wine barrel from his personal vinyard have been found. Some thirty years later, the fortress was destroyed during the Batavian revolt and rebuilt as base of a cavalry squadron. A magnificent and large ancient Chinese Han Dynasty figure of an armoured warrior. Dating to approximately 206 B.C. 220 A.D. The warrior is shown in typical Han dress. With baggy trousers, long-sleeved, flaring gown with thick collar. He has a simple close-fitting helmet on his head. His pink face is oval-shaped with black painted eyes and red lips. His right arm is bent at the elbow, his hand perforated, likely to take a spear or bow(made of wood and long perished) His left hand lies to his side and probably would have held an arrow in antiquity. A well provenanced. Ancient Persian pottery vessel, dating to approximately the Late 2nd millennium B.C. With bulbous. Ribbed body, wide neck, everted mouth and flattened circular base. Two small, pierced lug handles sit on either side of the pot's shoulder. Long curving ridges have been carefully modeled into the body of the pot to create a ribbed design. Diameter: 4 3/4 inches. This lovely selection of 20 Ancient Mimbres pottery sherds were collected by my grandparents while visiting a friend's ranch in New Mexico back in the 1930's. There are many nice painted pieces and what I assume are parts of jars. There are also excellent examples of ribbed decoration. Please feel free to ask me any questions.
