Depicting the scales of a fish in motion, coloured in beautiful polychrome red, yellow and brown, with the dorsal fin a distinctive dark blue. Tiles of this form have been found exclusively in Egypt. And are widely renowned as being of the highest quality, building on a glass making industry that was already centuries old. The technique involved a series of various coloured glass strips and canes being carefully moulded into their required shapes before the construction was then placed into a kiln, whereupon the individual elements were fused with the backing glass to become one subject. The band is thick and solid and expands slightly at the shoulders. Its bezel is raised and square in shape. Its surface bears the very rare stylised carving of the head of Anubis. A dark. Up for your consideration is an ancient Egyptian bronze figure of an Ibis. C. 500- 350 BC. The piece is the finest and most complete that I have seen outside a museum. The fragile beak, feet, and the Hemhem headdress are complete, and free of restorations. The green verdigris is original and untouched. The piece measures just about 3 inches long x 3 inches tall. The pieces with the Hemhem headdresses are the rarest and most valuable. A lesser example of the same size just sold at Christie's for $1654. A similar item was listed on eBay[3710 1614 4684] with a lot more verdigris.this one shows less verdigris and more bronze[its uncleaned] though it has been repaired in the past, as the pictures show. They have been strung into a necklace many, many years ago. Then that very old string broke and the owner recently restrung them and used the old brass chain and hook on the ends. The hook and chain look like brass. The bell-shape end is solid so it has weight. The necklace is 29" not including the bell weight end piece.which adds another 1/2" About Faience: This normally plain-colored material was fired and turned vibrant shades of yellow, green, turquoise, red, brown, orange, auburn, and blue. These beads can be as old as 300 bc. Most faience beads are credited to 600-500 bc. They are ancient! When a person died, the beads were woven intricately into net-like shrouds. ... moreThe shrouds were laid across the sarcophagus before the tomb was closed. Over the hundreds of years, the original twine decomposed. This is a rare example of authentic well preserved tubular and circular faience beads. I purchased it from a lady that purchased the beads many years ago while traveling to Egypt in the 1960's. She typed up an index card memo about them so she would not forget their identification.
