N A White& Sons Utica NY Christmas( Pine) Tree Jug Cobalt dec Rare Nice Description. Fabulous. RARE Gallon Jug by partners Nicolas A. and William White and Sons, Utica NY. This is likely over 100 yrs old. Mr White died in 1886 at the age of 68. This is in very nice condition with some very minor nips some in the making under glaze and one or two not. All in one are along the bottom edge fifth photo. There is also One teeny, what might be deemed a hairline at the bottom edge that is very short and almost seems to be at the surface last two photos. Also a poc on the shoulder area.and stress line that is tiny/short at top of handle second& fourth photo. I have tried to show these flaws in the photos. Most are from the process of making the piece and are typical. There are no repairs. Old Wooden "Captain Morgan" Cigar Box (Box Joints, in Original Dry Patina)
OLD CAPTAIN MORGAN WOODEN CIGAR BOX Up for consideration is this old wooden Captain Morgan Cigar box. It measures approx. 15.5" long. By 4" wide, and 1" deep. On the inside of the box there are nine notched out sections in the wood. I believe this is where the Cigars rested(please refer to photo#9 for close up) Photo#3. Shows you where the original seal once was, all that is left now is some very worn down paper. Photo# 10. Shows the original stamp on the box, it reads: Captain Morgan. Then under that I believe is the name of the Cigar shop, very faded and I can not make it out) And just under the faded out store name it says. Scranton Pa. The interior of this box is in very good condition(as seen in the photos) The exterior is much darker in color. And has a very dry patina to it. There is no damage in any of the wood. Just ... morethe usual aging process. It has box joints on all four corners. The uderside of the top is(seen in photo#11) show how the wood thickness is recessed. Which allows the top to fit on the bottom portion nice and snug. I am selling this old Cigar box in"as is. As found" used antique condition. Please view all the photos. NEW ENGLAND, Probably New Hampshire, Circa 1810-1830 IN AN OLD REFINISHED SURFACE WITH TRACES OF THE ORIGINAL RED. Classic Sheraton turnings on the legs. The feet are fully intact and all original. Great butt end drawer construction. Single one board top with its original drop leaves which retain an early rule joint edge and both of its original leaf supports. The turned wooden knobs are original as well. Nice old Refinished surface that still shows traces of the original red. It has a nice mellow color and patina. New Hampshire country pieces were often made of mixed woods utilizing the dramatic effect of Tiger ... moreor Bird's Eye Maple to add an extra element of decoration. The Bird's Eye Maple is on the Drawer Fronts. Legs and Back. All of these elements would be visible. The Birch Top is again a fairly standard New Hampshire Feature. You would never find a Tiger Or Bird's39;s Eye Maple top. The Drop leaves are 95% straight with only the slightest of warping. The hinges are original as is every hand made screw holding on the top. ALL THE NAILS ARE HAND WROUGHT SQUARE HEADED EXAMPLES. Great old color underneath. A WONDERFUL"COUNTRY" VERSION OF A MORE FORMAL DESIGN. This is a neat old galvanized metal sap bucket with shabby paint in a great mustard gold color. I am not sure the paint is original to the time when the bucket was made but it sure looks good. This bucket is 9" tall x 6" across the bottom and 9" across the top. The bucket is in very good condition with no leaks. It has the original hole at the top where it would have hung from the tree to collect the sap for making maple syrup. The hole is great to use now for hanging from the garden fence or potting shed. For sale is an Early Hand-Forged Flesh Fork from an antique store in Gettysburg. Pennsylvania. I was very formate to 6 of these forks during my last trip home to PA. all from southern/central Pennsylvania, each slightly different in style/length. I am including a picture of all 6, if you'd like to take a look. These wonderful Primitive Kitchen Forks were used for lifting meat into/out of the cooking pot or cauldron. They are sometimes referred to as Butcher's Forks. This historic old fork would look great in your country or primitive Kitchen. It measures approximately 14.25" in length. Home made and certainly one of a kind. A unique and impressive old time game for a den wall display. This is a homemade precursor to modern pinball games. Either owned or made and painted by James Herrick of Utica NY in 1957. I have no additional information since this was from a downsizing/retirement home moving sale by relatives of an older couple. 12" across and 24" tall. Solid wood(plywood. Wood curved rail and base. Colors remain bright. There are some spotty patches(see photo 10) on the yellow paint. Ball contain rail has splits(photo 11) that do not affect play, but this one is best left for wall display. Alaskan Toggle Harpoon For Walrus Hunting, Hammered Copper Tipped
UP FOR BID: This harpoon was made like we made them 50 years ago in Barrow. We hunted walrus for food and to feed our dog teams. The walrus have a negative buoyancy and sink when shot in the water. When shot in the water we harpooned them and attached a buoy to the line that allowed us to recover the whole animal. We butchered or prepared the walrus for towing on the sea ice. Normally the tip would have been made from the tip of a walrus tusk. But this is illegal for me and made the tip from Alaska grown cherry wood. The fore shaft would have been made of ivory or antler and the socket would have been whale bone or walrus penis bone, but again illegal for me to carve, Laws change things and I can longer hunt walrus(too old) but I have never forgotten the skills of my youth. The point is painted in home made red ochre and the shaft from iron ... moreoxide acrylic paint. The copper tip is hand hammered and filed. This will make a great wall hanging!

An exceptional example of the tinsmith’s craft. Displaying a high degree of esthetic sensitivity. Beautifully proportioned and executed, the form transcends utility to become sculpture. The initialed medallion displayed on the front indicates that it was specifically made for an individual, or is the maker’s signature. The can has obviously been well cared for and is in remarkable condition considering its age and use. The surface is mainly base metal retaining traces of tin. And is burnished to a warm, glowing patina. There is some light surface rust; bottom has remarkably little rust and no pinholes—rare in dairy cans of this vintage. Primitive Lidded Basket Abenaki Indian Baskets Collectible
Vintage Woven Abenaki Indian Basket Old estate find. This is another of the seven baskets that I picked up from a collector. It is made of woven material with wide strips of pale green(smaller) and red(larger) The colors are brighter inside than outside, showing the age. It has a round shape with a matching lid. In good vintage condition, there are two broken pieces of the vertical wide grass(see pic 5) I do not know the age. I have shown in the photos a metal tag that says"Genuine Abenakis Indian Handicraft Trade Mark" The metal tag is not included in the sale. This is a table/ floor lamp, and a 3x3 candle fits in it well, the 1 seen in the picture has been burnt and is included. It is a WHITE BARN CANDLE CO. vanilla scented candle. There is a couple small spots where it is starting to rust where it looks like paint has come off. I'm not sure what kind of metal this lamp is. There is a spike for the candle to be sat down on. This auction features a very nice old tea tin. It is 10 inches tall and 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches square. The front side graphics and lettering are silver paint on red.
