Primitive Handmade Skinning Knife
Found at a South Georgia farm estate sale. This interesting skinning knife measures 9 1/2" in over-all length with a sturdy blade measuring 1/8"thick x 5 3/4" in length. The blade, which is extremely sharp, is in nice condition, showing no pitting or hammer marks, though there are occasional discoloration spots. The hardwood(pecan? handles are in nice condition, showing no cracks or splits. Vintage dark wood kitchen shelf or would make a nice desk top secretary. Measurements are 22 1/4" tall x 21" wide x 9" deep at bottom. The top shelf is 5 1/2" deep and the cubbies are 2 5/8" wide x 3 3/4" tall(inside measurements) The top drawer is 5" x 5 5/8" x 3 3/4" The bottom drawer measures 6 1/4" x 8 1/2" x 3" tall. The bottom slot measures 11 1/2" x 4" x 8 1/2" deep. There is wear on the edges where drawers and cubbies are. There is a scratch by bottom knob. Both knobs are porcelain and have varnish on them that needs to come off. This piece is in very solid condition. Well made. The wood used is approximately 1/2" thick. It has two holes at top, ready to hang or would work great sitting on a counter or used as a desk top secretary. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOOD 24-1/2" HIGH STOOL This primitive stool has a round seat resting on its turned and splayed legs. It is a size that allows it to be used as a stool or plant stand. It was recently found in a central Virginia estate. It measures 24-1/2" tall and is 15" in diameter across the top. The splayed legs span 14-1/2" at the bottom. It features 8 round original stretchers and nice sturdy turned legs. It does show light surtface wear on the top and stretchers. The legs are secure to the top. AN EXTREMELY RARE 18TH CENTURY RHODE ISLAND WINDSOR FAN BACK SIDE CHAIR WITH 7 TURNED BULBOUS SPINDLES. TWO FINELY TURNED SUPPORTS AND THE BEST HAND HEWN SHAPED FAN BACK CREST, A DEEP WELL CARVED HAND HEWN SEAT WITH SPLAYED DEEP CUT BULBOUS TURNED LEGS WITH THE DISTINCTIVE RHODE ISLAND SHAPED FEET IN AN OLD 19TH REFINISHED SURFACE WITH TRACES OF THE ORIGINAL GREEN. Rhode Island. Circa 1780-1790 in maple, hickory and ash. This great chair is a great example of an Rhode Island Windsor from the latter part of the 18th century. This primitive hanging wood bread board has been hand crafted with a burlap pocket. Red pip berries and homespun flowers. The flowers are made from hand stitched yo yo's and a vintage buttons. To complete the look, I wrapped the bread board in cheese cloth, which was aged in a cinnamon and coffee mixture. It measures 12 inches long and 6 inches wide and has a heavy duty rawhide hanger. The center bell has 3 clappers and the ones on the ends have 2 clappers. There are 13 brass sleigh bells riveted on a 82" long 1" leather strap. The bells are of varying size. In the center there are 3 bells{marked with a no.8} measuring 2-3/4" in diameter.Then. There are 2 bells{marked with a no.7, one with a missing piece as shown in the picture} on either side measuring 2-1/2" in diameter. Then, there is a bell{ marked with a no.5 measuring 2-1/4" in diameter. 2 bells[ marked with a no.4} measuring 2" in diameter.There are 2 bells{ marked with a no.3} measuring 2" in diameter.There is one bell{ with a no.2} measuring 1-1/2" in diameter.There are 2 bells{ marked with no.1} and measures 1-1/4" in diameter. A fabulous find is this antique solid quartersawn and straight sawn oak cabinet with handsome designs of inlay on the door and around the drawers. Two of the three doors are false. However, the drawer area encompasses the entire area under the main cabinet and the bottom. The door has a fantastic inlaid shell design. The classic canted corners help display how beautiful the patina is on this old cabinet. The door to the inside is paneled and is chamfered on the inside. There are several shelves. Height to the top = 42" Width across the front = 24 3/4" Depth is 19" in the middle and 20 1/2" on each rear side. Canted corners are 4" each. Area under front of cabinet is 1 3/4" This corner cabinet as always beena corner cabinet and built as such versus being a hanging corner cabinet made from the top of a standing ... morecabinet. It is in very good and ready to hang condition. There have been a repairs on this cabinet.some older than others.the very top left piece of molding has been replaced as well as the molding on the base on the left. The middle knob is not original and the shell has had a few additions due to a very small amount of inlay loss. Quality and time tested craftsmanship helps make this cabinet sweet. Meat mallets + i haven't counted the mashers of all kinds. then the whippers, butter stamps, pie-crimpers, spice spoons, etc etc etc. AND the wood spoon pile, which is going to be listed mostly. did i mention the clothes pins? well, i went thru the assorted treen pile. mostly wood spoons. i oiled everything, just to make sure did not part w/ something extra pretty, THO, i am parting w/ some of those too.NOT the smooshers! i found this many years ago i am sure. grabbed because it was treen. i was gonna say i have no idea the wood. But i think its oak. i bet it was gorgeous when new, of course, WHAT IS IT? I was looking at the handle tip + i think i figured out why it got damaged. originally round + they cut 2 sides off ... more+ sort of made it square.

HUGE 18th 19th C Colonial Antique Wrought Iron Scissors Shears Blacksmith Forged
9" Long 3 5/8" Wide An almost identical example can be seen referenced on page 309 of George Nuemann's book"Early American Antique Country Furnishings" fig 1364) Nice example of a high quality pair of blacksmith made shears likely dating circa 1750-1780. Scissor shears such as this were used for a variety of functions such as to cut various articles of cloth. But also could have been used in leather work as well. As you can see they were expertly crafted with the smith working pieces of straight iron into large finger loops. Note the early center rivet and thick blades. Some slight pitting from age. I highly recommend you take a trip to see the magnificent work of. The company started in the very small cowboy town of Bandera. Texas- not too far from where I grew up- and has grown into a coveted label with a unique style that emulates 19th century Victorian comfy-country fashion. Their beautiful. Romantic, Victorianesque, shabby-chic garments are unlike anything I've ever seen. I really want a pair of their lacy bloomers! The style and grace of their line has inspired my newest dollie- Alysanne. Many hours went into the creation of this lovely lady. I can't begin to tell you how pretty she is in person! Alysanne was created from osnaburg muslin I aged ... morewith walnut stain and coffee and baked a few times. She was designed to sit. And is about 14" tall from the tips of her ears to the bottom of her seated bum, and a total of 24" from head to toe. She's a pretty big lass, but will look perfect sitting on your favorite shelf or little bench or chair. She can be posed, too! She has a round head with hand-painted sparkly glass eyes, hand-stitched woolen eyelids, real eyelashes, hand-sculpted and painted Paperclay nose, cotton batting muzzle stuffed for dimension with sisal whiskers, and ears securely stitched in place to her head. Her hands are needle-sculpted to highlight individual fingers. Her dress was created from a very pretty fabric that resembles unbleached linen. With lots and lots of tattered ruffles. Her bloomers are a sheer ivory lacy fabric with tiny silver flat sequin dots, and her billowy underskirts are layers and layers of tulle. A venise lace choker is secured around her neck. All of her clothes are tacked in place and cannot be removed. Alysanne's boots are hand-painted and laced up with quilting thread. Rare 18th C Antique Wrought Iron Skewer Fireplace Cooking Utensil Set AAFA
7 1/2" 7 9/16, 7 1/4" 3 Nice original hand wrought. Blacksmith made skewers, New England in original origin and all circa 1740-1790. Skewers such as these were originally kept near open hearth fireplaces. The individual skewers being used to secure meats cooked at the frames. With rotating spit's holding meat such as fowl, roasts etc it was important that said meat be well contained, I.E. Skewers such as this would have helped to pin in wing and leg sections on fowl, secure more tender parts of a roast, etc. As you can see each example shows excellent signs of period blacksmithing work. VINTAGE Feedsack Quilt Primitive Alley Cat Kitty OLD Door Knob Back Plate Hanger
STUCK OUTSIDE! I've made this"alley cat" from an old crazy quilt with fabrics from the 1920's-1940's or 1950's-just a ton of colorful textiles- feedsacks. Novelties, calicoes, solids, paisley-you name it, this old quilt prolly has it! He features lopsided ivory button eyes above a shell nose, black embroidery floss whiskers, a jute twine bow around the neck, and a fish bone image which I've hand stamped onto an aged metal rimmed round hang tag that I've pinned on with a rusty safety pin. I've fastened the feline securely to a VINTAGE metal door knob back plate featuring a shell scallop at the top and bottom, and OLD chippy white paint. Tucked behind kitty is a festoon of prim pine greens and multicolored pip berries. This project measures approx. 8"T X 5"W, and can be hung directly from a nail ... morethrough the hole at the top. The fish bone is so funny-between that and the eyes, this poor kitty looks like it has been scrambled and disheveled in an alley or maybe two. He was trying to sneak in the back door through the keyhole, but didn't quite manage, so he's still stuck on the outside. Poor Kitty!
