For auction we have an antique medvast butter tub. From my research it dates back to the 1850s. It is 8 inches tall and 8 1/4 wide. The wood is in very good shape for its age. It is missing the peg that lock the lid in place. These are very hard to find and you almost never see them in this good of condition. It is a two-handled cooking pot. Crudely cast in 2 molds Made of thick and solid Bronze or Pactong. The last was a copper alloy initially imported in Europe from China. Until the early/mid 1600's when the receipt for its mixed proportions was discovered by Dutch or English and its production started in Europe Has a characteristic shape and design Very heavy. Weighs over 10 lbs Stamped on the side as pictured. This makes it even scarcer! Well. This mark(which definitively appears to be of Chinese origin) makes us believe that this very pot was either cast in China for direct European export to Netherlands or Britain or was cast in one of these countries ... morefrom imported pactong, i.e. BEFORE the European invention of producing this alloy. These sensors has leather handle covers that were hand sewed on when the scissors were made. They have the original heavy canvas cover that covered the scissors blades. SCOOP SHOVELS all wood D handled Vintage Lot of 2 antique tools
Pair of vintage shovels. Very old style typical of the 1800's. These are the very hard to find large scoop shovels. I do not see any manufacturers' ID markings on either one. The big one has 3 splits in the grip. The metal pins still hold it togeather fine. The smaller one has a taped handle and may have a split grip also. Both have some age cracks to the wood as would be expected. Small one has pretty good metal. Large one has tear in metal pan and has a worn working edge. They have the one piece handle and grip that is all made from one piece of wood. Both have a gooseneck handle shaft. These are very old shovels. Two factory metal rod/pins are inserted to reinforce the hand grips on each one They are about 40 and 41 inches long Great for vintage display. Movie prop, and reinactments. Some age and wear as would be expected of this ... moreold of an item(see photos) I am not an expert on this item. I have described it as best I can. I took lots of photos. There is a 1 and an unusual backwards 6 and a dot on the base. It measures 7 1/2 inches tall and is 3 3/4 inches in diameter at the bottom. It has some great bubbles in the glass. Very Nice 19th Century Newark NJ Decorated Stoneware Script Jug!
Up for sale is a Nice 19th Century NJ Stoneware Script Jug with Cobalt decoration. The script is an individuals name and address which looks like a rural route in Newark. NJ. The jug has been repaired but difficult to see unless you look very closely and know what you are looking for. When I purchased it many years ago. I was not aware that it was repaired. The repair appears to be around the top rim(photo#9) where maybe a chip was repaired and also on the side of the jug where a hairline was repaired. The hairline starts at the bottom rim of the jug and travels up about 4 inches into the body. I tried to photo it in photo#10 but as I already mentioned, it is very hard to see. It looks like it was a very tight spider line as the jug is Very Stable and shows no physical effects of the line. There is a minor factory dimple in photo#8, but besides ... morethat the jug is very clean without a lot of staining and discoloration. This is a very nice decorative jug and can be yours for a very good price. I am offering at a low starting price and NO RESERVE. Antique Primitive Birthing Chairs
Up for your consideration is a pair of unique primitive birthing chairs. These chairs were used in the 19th and early 20th century for women to sit in while giving birth. Designed to completely disassemble to make it easy for midwives to carry. This particular design. From research, looks to be more on the spanish side, possibly made in Spain, but I cannot verify that. I have also seen them from Germany and England. They have a clover design for handles on the back and on each side of the seat. They stand 31" tall from the floor to the top of the back, 16" from floor to seat and the seat itself is 19" wide 5" deep and 1 1/4" thick. There are a couple minor scrapes between the two, but minor, also the back is a little loose on one of them, but could be repaired easily, if you wanted to actually use them, if not, it ... moreis not loose enough to worry about. This candlestand may be used as a sconce fastened to the wall or will stand upright on a table. The part that holds a candle was used in a hat factory in Virginia and steam came through the item to block new hats being made and also hats that were brought to be blocked. The box holding the item was made by a carpenter. I have owned this item for 40 years and although it is old and primitive I have no idea when it was actually made. Pair of Spanish or French Cowherd 19th century Wood Iron & Leather Stirrups
Museum pieces! This wonderful pair of 19th century European wood. Iron and leather Cowherd/ Farming stirrups. Decorated in aprimitive way with brass studs. These leather stirrups are more difficult to find than the brass ones. Obviously due to the fact that leather is not as strong as brass. This pair has survived well. Don't you used love the personal touch with the studs on the inside of the stirrups. I believe they are initials but I can't work them out. The soles are made of wood, the top is leather with a iron strap around the top of the leather. Great example of early craftmenship.They measure approx. 11 inches in length and 5 inches in width. From a local estate call yesterday morning I found some great primitives one of them being this outstanding original food container barrel from an upstate New York general store. Love it! Shows great age wear and crusty finish. With its fully intact wood strapping lid also wood hand turned and great signs of wear and use. Antique Country Primitive Staved Wooden Butter Churn, Iron Bands, 19th Century
Here's a handsome. Antique, wooden butter churn in excellent, well-preserved condition. Made of pine staves, it has three metal bands(one is missing) that keep it tight and secure. This butter churn has a great patina with rich, warm coloring along with very nice graining. The surface shows age and signs of past use making it much more interesting and attractive than any reproduction. With the dasher. This churn stands 33 inches high; without it, it is 20 1/2 inches tall which makes it one of the bigger one's I've seen in awhile. It has a wonderful, graduated, almost conical shape with the top measuring 7 1/2 inches in diameter widening out towards the bottom where the diameter is 10 1/2 inches. Best of all, there are no problems with active woodworms, termites, or dry rot. It's an especially nice-looking piece that will display ... morenicely wherever it's placed. Antique Vintage Hand Crank Butter Churn Jar Only Parts / Restore
This is an original Churn Jar. I have been told it could have been a Daisy Jar. But I have no knowledge of churns, I'll let those of you who are experts be the judge of that. The Jar is 8" tall, 6.5" wide, and the mouth about 4.5" wide. The rounded corners on the jar has ribs on all 4 corners and the flat sides have a picture frame affect. The bottom of the jar has a 2 and an 8 and a symbol in the center I can't read. It also has a surface only mark on the outside bottom that appears to have happened in the manufacture of the jar.
