Antique Franklin Twisted Lightning Rod Weathervane Silver Mercury Glass Ball
Great antique lightning rod weathervane with a silver mercury ball. This piece is in overall good antique condition. With a nice patina to it. Some signs of wear from usage and age, so please look closely at the pictures. The total height of the whole piece is 59" The finial measures 9 5/8" in total length, the exposed portion is 8 1/4" With the finial off, the rod itself is about 51" The twisted steel stand measures 39 3/4" high. The silver mercury ball measures 5 1/4" through the center hole, the inside of the opening is 1" and the outside of the brass cap is 1 3/8" The ball is approximately 5" wide. The copper rod is 49" long. I will detach this from the base and the globe will be shipped separately to keep everything safe. So it will be disassembled when you receive it. Antique Pig Weathervane Lightning Rod Arrow Primitive Folk Art W/ Bullet Holes
This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. I am guessing this one dates back to the 1920-30's. A weather vane in the shape of a Penny Farthing High Wheel Bone Shaker Bicycle. It has the mounting bracket. Direction letters and the pointing arrow. It measures approx. 34" long along the arrow, just the high wheel is 22" high and with the mounting bracket it is 57" high. Penny-farthing. High wheel, high wheeler, and ordinary are all terms used to describe a type of bicycle with a large front wheel and a much smaller rear wheel that was popular after the boneshaker, until the development of the safety bicycle, in the 1880s. They were the first machines to be called"bicycles" Although they are now most commonly known as"penny-farthings" This term was probably not used until they were nearly outdated; the first recorded print reference is 1891 in Bicycling News. Antique Copper Fish Weather Vane Weathervane with Directionals -- Complete
This beautiful. Antique copper fish weathervane has been sitting, unused, in its box, in my grandfather's workshop for at least 30 years. The fish and balls are copper. And the directional arrows, set screws, and stop ring are brass. The mounting rod is steel. The fish is about 25" long and 9" tall, the directionals are about 18" wide, and the mounting rod is 40" tall. Everything is in excellent condition. All brass screws turn freely with no scratches or dings. It hasn't been exposed to the elements yet. But you can see the beginnings of a nice patina forming. Thanks for looking! Antique Early Cow Weathervane and Lightning Rod with White Bulb: Today for auction is this wonderful early antique cow weathervane. Please use the photos to help judge the condition of the weathervane. The cow on the weathervane still has some of its original white paint with some added patina. I found this weathervane here in Maine. So it has seen some harsh conditions, but still remains in a solid condition. Positioned in front of the cow is a beautiful directional arrow which I believe is made out of brass. Below the directional is a beautiful white glass lightning bulb that has some black on the bottom, perhaps from smoke out of a chimney. The main rod is twisted and I believe the finial is missing from the top. Sitting at the bottom of the weathervane are three mounting legs and feet. Antique Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow Kretzer weather vane
Up for consideration is this stunning 23" Kretzer lightning rod arrow. Made of brass this arrow has a great patina. There is no damage or repairs. The glass is an NOS Kretzer glass that was very difficult to obtain. This is the only modification to this arrow. Also included is the original Kretzer brass ferrule the arrow was mounted on, this also is in great untouched condition, screws work as they should. On my other auctions this week I have listed the pendant hanger and ajax topper that were on the same rod. I personally removed them from a roof and they are new to the market. These old weathervane directional arms each measure 25 1/2 inches across and the holes for the vane shaft are 3/4 inch diameter. The"W" directional arm. Wonderful and Early Wood Horse Weathervane in Original Paint
Rare solid wood 19th C New England homemade horse weathervane. He's stunning but sadly his back leg broke off somewhere along his life. He still retains quite a bit of his original white paint which shows appropriate wear. He may be from the early 20th century. Hard to say for sure but his construction indicates he's quite early. I've taken numerous pictures to give a complete sense of him. Would describe his actual weight as medium heaviness. The thickness of his body(1 1/2" is an indicator of his quality. If not for the broken leg. Though I think he would be well worth professional restoration of that leg. He measures 21" long by 18" tall. All original hardware still on him. Old Antique Honey Amber Glass Lightning Rod Weathervane Ball 4-1/2"
Estate find! Nice old ruby red glass lightning rod ball. It is marked with an embossed K. It measures approximately 4-1/2 inches in diameter. See photos for condition/details. It shows age from years of use, but no cracks just the expected chips around the collars and the inside can use a cleaning. Your lightning rod ball will be packed with care and shipped fully insured. Vintage Antique Lightning Rod Weathervane Vane Diddie Blitzen Rods Globe Garden
Nice Lightning rod globe in my other auction Up for auction is a lightning rod and weathervane with diddie-blitzen rods globe. The globe has a small chip to the top lip but is fine. The weathervane part has the original red glass and has the extra security of a wire along the back side of it helping hold it in place. This was from an estate in Port Washington. Ohio that had been in the same family for over 125yrs, this one appears to have been struck a time or two due to the blackness on the globe. It has the original bottom rod holder and nails. Antique full body copper EAGLE weather vane with copper ball finials and directionals. Has a great verdigris patina. Came out of a house in Yarmouthport, MA. Complete weathervane, just missing the base that is attached to the roof or cupola. 21" inch Wing spread, Eagle from tail to beak is 16" inches long, The arrow where the Eagle stands on is 23 1/2" inches long, the directionals are 18" inches across, and the total length of this set up from tip of pole to tip of wing is 3' feet long. Excellent details on the feather, body, head and beak/mouth of Eagle. Old primitive soldering to connect all the pieces together. Directionals are good and clean. What a beautiful piece of New England Americana. Might have to disassemble in order to fit in box during shipment.

Vintage Hammered Aluminum Weathervane- Directionals & Stand- Not Painted
This is an older weathervane. It is the directional and the stand. The stand looks to be hammered aluminum. The feet are adjustable to the angle you need. It is about 14 1/4" tall. The directional is about 12 3/4" long and the letters are about 23/4" long. I do not see any markings on it to know who it was made by or when it was made. It does look to be on the older side because of the defects on it while being made(such as some excess metal not trimmed off around the edges of the letters) It is in excellent condition. This piece has been lovingly preserved and installed on a decorative wood base for display. The center is a copper lightning rod with removable pointed top. The cow is a 3-dimensional construction made of thin metal. The other metal feels like cast iron? There are TWO glass balls. A white milk glass ball with dimples and a blue ball with stars! The top of the white ball has a few chips that you can see in the photos. The bottom of the blue ball has a few chips that are covered up by the metal fitting. The platform base looks like oak and is raised about 1" for a great presentation. The base measures about 17-1/4" square. The entire piece is about 53" ... moretall. Vintage Primitive Folk art Rooster Weathervane folkart
1 Vintage weathervane. I am selling this for a friend who is about 90 years old. He made this quite a few years ago. I thought he said the rooster and arrow was made with either copper or brass. The width across for the direction letters is about 19" and the letters are about 3 1/2" tall. The arrow measures about 22 1/2" across and about 4" tall. The Rooster measures about 8 1/4" tall and about 8" wide. The whole unit measures about 27 1/2" tall. It was painted black white and red. There is a paint crack etc one one side of the arrow. A no reserve auction for a very nice. Complete antique copper rooster weathervane. Rooster is hollow body copper as is the arrow bit the tip if arrow is cast brass. Both balks are damage free copper. The direction indicator is cast brass and perfect. I picked this up at a estate sale and it was disassembled. I provided the copper tubing which fit all the pieces perfectly and without modification. Everything is original patina and has no corrosion or pitting. Arrow measures 26" long. 22" tall from bottom of arrow to roosters comb. Small ball is 2-1/4" Large ball is 4-1/4" Directional is 22" x 18" and letters are 3-3/4" tall. Overall height is approx 48" but is adjustable depending on copper tube length. Beautiful iron lightning rod/weathervane with cobalt blue glass ball and hollow pig without bullet holes. I have never seen one of these rods with a pig in better condition. Rod stands 36" tall with a 22 1/2" arrow. Pig measures 8 1/2" long X 4 5/8" high. Has a small hole in the top which shows in the picture. Ball is 4 1/2" across with a crack on one side. I have tried to show this crack in the picture. Will not deter from displaying this beautiful piece as it's only on one side. This is truly a beautiful lightning rod/weathervane. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. View all of the photos and use zoom and enlarge. There are two small scratches on one side(see the last two photos) I wipes the item with a soft cloth and water to get off the dust. Vintage Horse Featured Weathervane with N-S-E-W Directional
As pictured. Up for auction is this Vintage Horse Featured Weathervane with N-S-E-W Directional. The horse piece is approx 23" long and the directional is approx 19" long and 11 1/2" wide. I pulled them out of the same barn sale. However I'm not sure if they go together, and if they do, not sure how to attach them to each other. I'll leave that to the vintage restorers. The directional has some sort of roof mount on it. The condition is vintage good with some rust on the weathervane, but a nice candidate for some sanding and repainting. The directional is pretty cool with each NSEW cut out of sheet metal as one piece with it's stem. Please examine the pictures closely for condition. Feel free to email me with any questions. Original Antique Barn Roof Cupola Weathervane Over 6 FEET Tall
Great antique barn cupola just off an old barn roof. Missing the glass lightning ball as shown. One side is rusty and cracked on the bottom portion that was nailed to the roof as shown. It is cracked and weakened. But complete and intact. Measures 6 ft tall overall and the bottom is 28-inches wide overall. Condition as shown. Jewell Running Horse Folk Art Weathervane Antique 1800's
This AWESOME ANTIQUE 1800's JEWELL RUNNING HORSE WEATHERVANE came from a living estate sale. The weathervane was on the original owner's house. In the Eastern U.S. The running horse measures approx. 27" long, 15" wide. The horse is hollow bodied, has some of the original yellow paint, has alot of weathered verdigris, a bullot hole that went through, a few dents, some scattered dings, a seam separation by the front hole for the pole and the flaired part of the tail is separated from the body which I believe can be re-attached easily. The tail is included for re-attachment and pictured. This was a working horse weathervane and is in original found contion. It appears and feels solid.
