Hello, I had been living in Okinawa for the last several years and purchased this sword as a souvenir. It is a very fine piece. But I have decided to part with it for family reasons. I've enjoyed having it, and it has been properly cared for as far as oiling and powdering the blade before being kept in. This is a piece for the connoisseur, and is a true artifact. This is NOT A REPRODUCTION like many other swords on ebay. This is a 500-year-old piece of history. Grading and Certification This sword was certified by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai(NBTHK. Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword) twice. The official documents are included with this purchase, and contain sketches of the tang to prevent fraud(see pictures below) This particular sword does not have a signature on the tang, which meant Samurai sword experts at ... morethe NBTHK had to review all the characteristics of the blade to determine who the swordsmith was. This sword was submitted for judging in Japan(known as“ shinsa” Twice. In the first"shinsa" the sword was certified as Tokubetsu Kitcho(Especially Precious) Presumably in 1948 due to the low number on the torokushko(see below) It was determined then that was the swordsmith that created this sword. However. The sword was submitted again after the rating NBTHK rating system was changed in 1982, and in the second"shinsa" it was decided that actually Ujifusa was the swordsmith and the status of Hozon(Worth of Preservation) was given according to the new scheme. Discrepancies such as this are not totally uncommon. As mentioned before, since the sword is unsigned, the sword itself had to be examined to determine the individual style and characteristics of the swordsmith. Very difficult when looking at thousands of blades made by thousands of different swordsmiths in history. This sword is has OFFICIAL certification. This is a Japanese sword in honzukuri mountings. The blade is unsigned. Shinogi-zukuri shape, muromachi period made Seki school blade. The blade is in old full polish. Shows tiny scratches on surface but no stain, no rust and in excellent condition. The temper line is Sugu with Tobi-yaki temper pattern and long return maru temper at the point. Late Koto Unsigned Wakizashi In Mount
19" late koto wakizashi unsigned. In good condition. The sword has some flaws but none are fatal. There are a few ware on the shinogi-ji and one is longer. There is one thin ware in the ji and a small fukure(carbon pocket) in the ji. The fukure feels very sallow. The sword may have these few non fatal flaws, however the beauty of the haha, hamon and condition makes up for it. The sword has a silver foil habaki and the tsuba is signed. The older mount is not bad for its age. Unable to make out what the menuki are under the wrap. Add this nice sword to your collection!

This Samuraisword was brought home by my Uncle MID 1940's World War 2 He just passed away October 2013 and so his son asked me to research and list it. at first I thought it was just your average WW2 KATANA. I placed a high price or maybe not until I hear back and get verification which I hope will be soon then I will adjust the price accordingly which could either be higher or lower. But after researching this for the last 24 hours straight I come to realize after looking at all the different parts and reseraching each item on the sword that this may be different I do not know the exact age and I have not removed the handle yet to look for a signature.
