50 Antique Cast Brass Trunk Tacks, Original 170 years old
The picture gives you an idea of what the tacks look like. You will receive 50 tacks plus a couple of extras. These are 170 year old tacks I removed from an original 1840's relic trunk that is unrestorable. These low-dome. Cast brass tacks are 3/8" diameter and have the typical square shank. Antique tacks are perfect for restoring an original trunk or adding that authentic touch to your Native American or Mountain Man recreations. They are untouched and some will have a little verdigris(green stuff) that will clean up with a toothbrush. I've added a couple of extras in case some break. I would suggest that you pre-drill your holes before mounting these little bits of history. Please ask questions as there are no refunds. 1870's Dome Top Trunk Size: 28" wide. 18" tall, 15" deep front to back. A beautiful wooden dome top or barrel top trunk. Probably from the 1870's. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. T his lovely dome-top trunk measures 34" wide. 19.5" deep and 22" high. Its beauty is the embossed tin ivy pattern and the oak straps and trim. We have used it for 30 years as a central decorative piece with the added advantage of storage space. Old trunks fit into every decor. Small casters are built into the base for rolling. Glides were added prior to our ownership. Most probably to protect the casters. These can be easily removed if desired. The leather straps rotted out years ago, a common occurrence for old trunks. And some of the interior paper is ripped. Other than that, it is in very good condition considering its apparent age of over 100 years. There is no key for the lockset. This is one of the most unusual and attractive antique steamer trunks I have found. Unusual design reinforced with multiple wood slats and copper detailing throughout. I acquired this particular trunk about 15 years ago and used it for awhile as an accent table with a glass top in my design studio. Although I am on the constant hunt for vintage trunks, this is one of the most unusual I have ever found and have held on to it for years awaiting another purpose. All wood construction with a multitude of wood slat reinforcements and copper straping with riveted joints throughout. Much of the original hardware. Including hinges, is intact but the front lock/latch ... moreand one side handle is missing. The interior is clean with remanants of an old paper lining that has been pealed away to reveal that the wood used in the making of the trunk was most likely recycled from antique wood crating. With one area showing an original stamp for the"American rubber company" I was surprised to see this and since this trunk is at least 100 years old, I think it is such an unusual and charming detail The trunk has probably had a coat of protective finish added to the exterior at some point and the wood has developed an aged and rich patina. There is a burn mark(see photo) on the left side. Indicating at some point in its history this trunk even endured some sort of fire, but is clean and undamaged otherwise. This trunk looks fantastic as is- I used it with a custom cut(very inexpensive) glass top for use as a coffee table. Either way. An absolutely stunning and historical addition to your design scheme! Up for sale is a unique item. I used this as a waitress station in my restaurant. It is an antique steamer trunk. That someone long before me converted into a writing desk. The trunk portion is pidgeon holed with small drawers, while the front folds down for a writing surface. The top still opens to reveal the tray, which remains hidden when the top is closed. I forgot to get the measurements, but I would approximate it to be 28x28x12 I could be wrong, this could be all original, but I dont think so. If anyone knows more about it please let me know. This is an antique ca.1875 ladies refinished pine hat trunk. It is 14"x 13"x 16.75"tall and weighs 17 lbs. It has steel banding with brass buttons. The solid brass hasp and lock plate are original. The key has been lost. The three leather handles and leather dust strap have been replaced per the original. The interior has a lift-out tray and a fold-down bonnet box with a money pouch. Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps & Buckles
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles Here is a nice refinished arch top or dome top steamer trunk from around the late 1800's to 1900 or so. We purchased this one already finished by someone else. We didn't really like the way it was when we received it. So we went ahead and finished it out a little bit better. This one has a combination of fancy embossed metal which is in a leaf and flower pattern on the top and front. The rest of the trunk must have been paper which they removed to expose the wood on the sides and the back. The wood appears to be pine and the outer slat boards look like poplar. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is approximately 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 inches. The front latches were ... moremissing on this trunk, so we put a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top where the latches should have been. These straps with buckles hold the top secure to it's base when buckled as would the latches if they were there. The wood appears to be finished with a couple of coats of clearcoat. The metal has been painted in a couple of different colors. The fancy metal looks like a silverish color while the cap metal on the slat boards have been done up in gold leaf, and the flat metal is in black. The lock looks to be original. It is not in working condition because the top part that goes into the lock mechanism is missing the engagement part. The lock probably works, but it will not fasten to anything since the top part is missing that engagement part. We did receive this trunk pretty much the way it is and simply gave it some improvement. The side handles were not on it, so we have put on a pair of Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, the paper lining has been removed and the wood has been finished with two coats of polyurethane. The bottom has been covered over with a new bottom which has been fastened

Brushed cleaned, sealed and covered with a period correct high end fabric design. The trunk has been reinforced from the inside where you see the cracks in the wood. Leaving the character that only a real antique trunk would accumulate over the years intact. The original canvas was in too bad of shape. So it was stripped to reveal the beautiful pine underneath. The outside has also been sanded. Cleaned and sealed with a satin finish for preservation and protection as well. Latches are in perfect working order. the lock can only be locked with the key. Antique Leather Luggage Trunk Suitcase Seat Brass Tacks Monogram 1850 Stagecoach
Here is a real antique. Stagecoach, train luggage trunk. It is leather over wood and it's embellished with brass tacks and a monogram. Has the bottom part of the original lock. Has both handles. The inside is covered with blue and white striped ticking or cloth. That's in very good shape. It has a drop open door in the lid that was used to put either dirty clothes or unmentionables(as they called underwear in those days) Then the top was padded and you could sit on the trunk as a seat as you were waiting for the train or stagecoach. Antique Doll Trunk and China Shoulder Head & Body
This auction is for 3 neat items- an ancient antique doll trunk- an antique china shoulder head marked Germany 2 G- and a nice old antique cloth doll body from Germany. This nice old doll trunk measures 6" x 9 3/4" and it is 4" tall and it shows lots of wear- it has paper loss. Scratches, paper wear, peeling, gouges, cracks, wood chips, etc. but it is one of those antiques that looks better and better as it ages. It has a lovely oval picture of a very pretty lady inside and it has an ancient tray inside as well. It is older than the hills. Next is a lovely antique china shoulder head and she is 2 3/4" tall x almost 2 1/4" wide and she is beautiful. She has pretty painted on features- lovely light blue eyes- nice rosie cheeks- gorgeous black hair with a center part- sweet little pursed lips- and she is in very nice ... morecondition. She is a real beauty. And last but not least is a wonderful antique cloth body from Germany and it measures almost 9" long x 3 1/4" wide and it has soil spots on both sides and it has some small tears on the front but overall it is pretty amazing for its age and it is just the perfect size for display. He was a remarkable man, full of life and meticulous.
