Steampunk Trunk Kit Vintage Brass Plated Hardware w/Leather Handles
This trunk hardware and leather handles are from the early 1970s. The patina on the brass is from their age. The leather handles are 9 3/4" long and three ply at 5/16" thick. There are 8 corners. 20 knees, 1 Long lock w/key, 2 large rectangular draw downs, 2 handles, 4 handle clamps, 2 hinges, and 2 lid stays. This is a similar list of hardware and handles used to build the trunk in the second photo(from 1974) thought seeing the finished product with similar hardware would help. TRUNK NOT INCLUDED, this item is the HARDWARE KIT ONLY. I can draw up the plans for that one if it would help a project. I handmade the metal trim from sheet aluminum and cut the bows from 3/4" X 2 1/4" oak that I split and rounded the edges of each half on a table router, pretty easy stuff. Having no chips, cracks or repairs. It has it's original paint, which has some loss to mention. This redware tree trunk umbrella stand was molded and the bird, branches and leaves decoration was applied. It was then painted, but not glazed. Therefore, you always have some paint loss. Except for the handles, trunk actually had the handles when I got it, but they were dry rotted, and became even more damaged in the process of conserving. so I did replace them, now they are great Also replaced was the bottom of the tray. The original bottom was coming loose from tray, and was cracked, so to make this trunk as fully functional as possible I thought it best to do it right! The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. This is great b/c it gets rid of all old smells many old trunks hold it also makes the trunk free of many allergens the trunk has been left natural. This is a really cool vintage trunk made by Texas Trunks out of San Antonio Texas. There is a sticker on the back that seems to put it on united van lines in 1925! To be honest this thing is in very nice shape for something around 90 years old. All straps and buckles are intact and in great shape. The key is missing. There are some scuffs and rubs from the one or two times it looks like it was used for legitimate travel. and on the back panel the laminate is kinda separated from the plywood. 1910-1930 MONTAGUE #880-1/2, 7', 4/2 Split Bamboo "Trunk" Fly Rod w/Bag, *FINE*
Up for auction a rather Nice 1910-1930 MONTAGUE CITY ROD CO. NO.880-1/2 7 FT. 4/2 SPLIT BAMBOO"TRUNK or SUITCASE" FLY ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL CLOTH BAG. These early"trunk" or"suitcase" fly rods, forerunners to what we consider"pack" rods today, were produced by the Montague City Rod Co. throughout the first quarter of the last century. This No.880-1/2 model would appear in catalogs from at least 1910 to around 1930. Produced as an unmarked"trade" rod, it would have been supplied to any number of hardware, sporting good or department/catalog stores across the country. I've added a photo of an original 1910 catalog listing from one such hardware store, Pacific Hardware& Steel Co. Built with what appears to be Calcutta cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, hardened steel snake ... moreguides& tip tops, Montague's"improved" welted ferrules, metal winding check, standard sliding band reel seat, solid sheet cork grip and wound in red silk and black& gold trim, with full intermediates. There are no less than 131 individual wraps on the five small sections. Rod is in about Fine condition, showing moderate overall wear. Bamboo remains very nice, showing a couple glue lines, but no splits or cracks. All five sections are the correct equal length of 21" Original varnish shows some thinning& unsettling in places and would benefit from a new overcoat if it's to be fished. All wraps are solid and complete. All guides, tip tops, ferrules and winding check are in very good condition. Sheet cork grip is nice for these, showing only two very tiny spots of thinning near the seam. Reel seat still works perfectly. Put up in the original five-pocket muslin bag, which hasn't been near as lucky. Riddled with holes and some tears, it nonetheless remains serviceable, although fragile. This auction is for an Antique 1870's Dome Top Steamer Trunk. It is patented on the latches July 1. 1873. In addition the latches have a sideways locking mechanism to keep latch closed(see pictures) This trunk is in very Hard to Find, untouched original condition. It has its original embossed leather top and dark finish on metal& wood. There is a thin original leather covering on the front, back, and sides. Leather has a nice Eastlake design in the front. There is an old yellowed finish or conditioner that is flaking on the top of this leather. Seems like it may be original finish or preservative that was just put on this leather(not leather ... moreon top) I did nothing to this trunk inside or out except to dust it off. No leather conditioners or furniture polish or anything else was used on this trunk. It is as found from large Estate and looks like it hasn't been touched in decades. Someone at one point put on new hinges with wood spacers underneath hinges. I removed hinges and found that the original hinges were broken where the strap meets the barrel. Spacer was just placed underneath and is not glued to the trunk. I put replaced hinges back on so it can be used. The inside of the trunk still has its original litho's intact. The tray and inside bottom section of truck has its paper lining which is coming up or missing in some places and has stains. Paper in lid with 2 litho's is also missing some paper. Stains can be seen where paper covers original hinges on the 2 box lids. Girl on lid of larger box that lowers down and has original latch. Rider on horse is above smaller box lid. Both litho's are in outstanding condition for its age. The outside of trunk the handles are missing on the sides. It has heavy duty latches and hardware. Original Brass lock. This is a large and elaborately hand carved Chinese chest made of wood with brass handle latch. An original different Chinese motif is exquisitely carved on five sides of the chest. It comes with legs that can be attached. You can see the legs in one of the pictures. Beautiful and Unusual Embossed Pastel Treasure Chest Tin I’m sort of enamored with this small vintage tin. I haven’t stumbled across one like it before. It’s an oddly shaped treasure chest. I guess, done in pastel colors with highly embossed details. The background color is a gray/silver color. The bottom is a good bit narrower than the top, the lid is curved and hinged, and the tin stands on four little rounded feet. The tin probably dates to the 1950s or 1960s and was made in Western Germany. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, light handling marks and light soiling, some minor dents/dings, etc. On the back side. The two areas on the outside of the hinge dip down, but this appears intentional. Several small rust spots on the inside of the tin. The main issue with this tin is that ... morethe sides are off kilter a bit. Which you can see very clearly when the tin isn’t closed all the way. Closing takes a little coaxing, and won’t hold tight if handled. Again. Condition issues of note: Sides off kilter a bit. Closing needs coaxing and lid won’t stay shut if tin is handled. Restored Civil War Era Steamer Trunk
I have for sale a restored Civil War Era Steamer Trunk made around the time of the Civil War. It is in very good condition and the interior lined with cedar. It originally was covered with leather which had to be removed. It is an excellent and rare trunk that can be used for storage or as a coffee table. It has a removable tray on the inside. The nails are solid brass and it is trimed with metal straps. It will last another 150 years or so. The lock does work. It measures 27 inches long by 16 1/2 inches wide by 14 1/2 inches high. I will drive up to an hour to meet with the person who wins the auction to deliver the trunk.

Description: EXCEPTIONAL. Early 19th Century TIN DOCUMENT BOX, in Original condition. CHROMOLITHOGRAPHIC FLORAL DECORATION. Done in a classic TOLEWARE Style, is still 90% or better complete, better than I have ever found in this area. ALL ORIGINAL. The colors of Turquoise, Red, and Yellow, though now muted with age, are still relatively bright. Many of these old Tin boxes were faded over the years, or worn, so were then handpainted over the decoration. This one is ALL ORIGINAL, and has never been altered or painted over. Even the TRIM lines are still relatively complete. Again. There is WEAR and muting, but still very very discernible and bright, without being garish. Large-domed lid still has most of the golden TRIM around it. Even the golden DECORATION around the top handle is still nearly complete. SIZE: Approx 9 1/2" long. 8 3/4" ... morehigh. Not counting handle. 6 1/8" deep. CONDITION: Very very good. Best I have ever had. HOWEVER, the LATCH is MISSING. I can pick up by handle and it stays closed, when EMPTY. One small, 1" sep at back. Clean inside. Some AGING darkening to tin, but otherwise clean. Scratches on outside. I took lots of pictures. I am proud to offer this Beautiful Piece of Autentic, UNALTERED American heritage. Antique Trunk - Embossed Tin In A Flower Pattern Great Restoration!
For sale today is a very nicely restored antique humpback trunk with embossed tin and the restoration turned out very well. The embossed tin pattern is a flower pattern- see pictures. I did not find any patent dates on this trunk and based on 40 plus years restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1880's to 1890's which makes this awesome old humpback as much as a 133 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has had multiple coats of paint applied and retains 3 original slats. The trunk has the 3 original hinges which are heavy duty,tight and work well. There are 30 plus pieces of original polished hardware and has the original center lock with a brass keyhole which has been polished- no key. The 2 original mechanical latches remain ... moreand both do not work. A new black leather lid lifter was installed on the trunk. There are 12 solid oak slats in a golden oak color on the trunk. The metal/tin is in very good condition. The trunk has the 4 original metal wheels on the bottom and the trunk rolls easily. Two new black leather handles were installed with new end caps.
