Exceptional Large Harness with 20 Antique 1800's Bronze or Brass Sleigh Bells. Purchased at a farm Auction in Ashland Ohio the Sleigh Bells were hanging in the barn. Amazing find. I have owned several Harness/Sleigh Bells but this set is the best I have ever bought. The leather belt is 1 1/2" wide and 70" long and is in very good, ready to display or use condition. The Antique 1800's bells are made of brass or bronze and all 20 are securely attached. The 1st bell near the buckle is marked"No 6" and is slightly larger than the others. They all have a slit in the center and a"horseshoe" design on the sides and a square shaped back. All of the bells are original and antique. All are in Very Good condition. I have not cleaned or altered the bells in any way. The leather is still supple and is not dried out ... moreat all. I would say that the Leather belt and Bells are in very good to excellent condition. A set this nice are nearly impossible to find. A full string like this are a rare find. This is a strap of 32 antique sleigh bells on a new leather strap. The bells date back about 1880 and the strap is made of an English bridle leather that will last another 100 years. Hello.up for auction today. Fabulous set of antique sleigh brass bells. There are 20 bells on a leather"collar" There are 2 straps on each end and a loop in the center. Collar measures 25" in length and 6 1/2" wide. This is in farm fresh"as found" condition. I didn't clean or condition the leather and the bells have tarnished. But you can see the brass gleaming through the tarnish, some prefer the primitive look, so I left them as is. The leather has expected age related wear. Check out my! There are 21 solid brass sleigh bells that measure approx. 1 1/4" Condition is very good, the sleigh bells have age/weather patina to the brass and the long and thick brown leather strap is soft and pliable from ages of use but the surface is worn and weathered from years of being out in the elements and hung in the barn. It seems that one of the bells is missing( there would have been 22 bells)and there is one small cut to the leather strap near one of the sleigh bells, all else is well preserved. Up for bid is a set of 13 Brass Sleigh Bells. On a leather strap. The brass is tarnished, and the leather strap is dry& cracking on the face, the back is in better condition. The rivets are secure,and the buckle is very rusty. The bells are approx. 1-1/8" in diameter, single slot opening at the top, three holes in the lower half. The strap is 32-1/2" long, looks like this has been broken from the original length, there are no holes for the buckle. The bells have a great sound, I am not sure of the vintage, that is why I have this listed in 2 categories. From the look, my guess is these are from 50's to 60's. These buckles are commonly referred to as Confederate Army blanket roll buckles. The buckles are shown on page 27 of Vol. 4 of CIVIL WAR COLLECTOR'S ENCYCLOPEDIA book by FRANCIS A. LORD. There are 19 HEART SHAPED BLANKET ROLL BUCKLES/HORSE HARNESS BUCKLES. There are 5 PLAIN BUCKLES. There are 8 SLEIGH BELLS(1 on one strap with 7 bells on the other strap) The bells are 1 1/4" wide. They make a great sleigh bell sound! The leather straps and leather ropes to keep the bells attached. Are all FRAGILE and dry. I'm selling these as is. The bells and buckles are all tarnished and the bells are rusty. I don't know what kind of metal the bells are. They don't look brass to me. Rare Large Early Stenciled Felt Christmas Stocking Santa Sleigh Holly & Bells
Here is a phenomenal early stenciled felt Christmas stocking about 18" long. The figure of Santa driving his reindeer sleigh down this stocking is an earlier one and the stenciling is done in such a way as to give the decoration a slightly raised appearance. Like embossing. The graphics are very detailed and pleasing. The top of the stocking is trimmed with a holly stencil and three nice bells in good shape. The front of the stocking is felt, I think wool felt, the back is a woven cotton fabric with a brushed, felted surface. The overlapping button stitch appears hand sewn. The top of the stocking has some damage probably where hanger was pulled out. See photos) The top of the stocking back os slightly frayed. Nice LONG sleigh bell set. Graduated. Small(ends) to Large(middle) If you'd like more photos or info, email me. PS. THAT ISN'T A'YARD' STICK but a'FOUR FOOT' STICK IN PICTURES. I used a tape measure on largest bells, and though they SEEM smaller, these are the almost circumference measurements: note that"around bell" means that metal loop to hold bell on leather belt is EXCLUDED from measurement. 1. Largest TWO- 6 INCHES AROUND, perpendicular to sound opening on top. 2. Next(almost) TWO- 5.5 inches around and 5.0 inches aroung 3. Next One- 5.5 inches around(has notch at opening, but looks like a manufacturers defect(this bell looks like it's out of order since is actually in place of ONE of what should've been the 5.5 inch ones, above. 4. The'mangled' one is actually just a cleft at edge of ... moresound opening, with that side of bell bent in. Other side of this bell is OK(other side of sound opening) 5. Vintage Horse Sleigh Jingle Bells. 7 Foot Long by 1" Leather Strap with 30- 1 1/4" bells Bells Plus 2 Shorter 17" x 2 1/8" Leather Straps. Each shorter strap has 4 Bells. 2- 3" and 2- 2 1/4" bells. I do not know how old these bells are. They don't appear to be brand new but don't appear antique or old either. The bells are brass and have a very good jingle to them. The Shorter straps have buckles and can be attached to the longer strap. These bells weigh approx 8-9 lbs. Most of my items are vintage and therefore will show some signs of wear and use. This is a really cute vintage Christmas girl in sleigh and she is musical. She plays Jingle Bells. She is about 5 inches long and 5 inches tall. She does have some minor paint loss(very little) There is a spot on the green in the front where it looks like there was a sticker at one time and there is a little sticker residue. Antique sleigh bells and they are ringing with a beautiful sound. Just purchased and the dealer said they were handed down by 3 generations. I'm not sure if they are brass as I thought they would be a goldish color and these are not. The strap is broken into 3 sections. There are 24 bells in total.
