Mirrored Metal Wall Sconces (2), Clear Crackle Candle Holders, E/C
This pair of wall sconces have an inset mirror on a heavy metal frame with an eagle on the top. The frame measures 19" high x 6" wide. The clear crackle glass candle holders are 8" high and have a narrow band of gold around the top. The metal has a black base finish with highlights of burnished gold. I love the rich deep color and aged patina these have. It is hard to see from the pictures since this was taken against a lighter fabric but this pair has 2 slender crystal prisms that hang on each side of the Fleur de Lis. Each one measures about 11 ½ inches tall by 5 ¼ across at the widest point. They each will hold a taper style candle. These will definitely not disappoint. This set appears to be a single Corinthian column cap salvage piece that has been cut in half and meticulously stripped& refinished with a wax coat. Both halves exhibit exceptional hand carved classical details in an unknown beautifully grained& heavy solid wood. The backsides of each have had 2 notched hanging brackets added allowing these very stylish pieces to be displayed on the wall as corbel sconces. Exact age is unknown. PR. of 19TH CENTURY GREEN PAINTED TIN TOLE DECORATED ARGAND LAMP type SCONCES
This is a wonderful and scarce Pair of 19th Century Green Painted Tin Tole Decorated Argand Lamp type Sconces. They each measure approximately 9-3/4" tall. The construction of cut and rolled edges and form matches on both examples. The hand decoration shows similar characteristics. But with subtle differences, leading us to believe they were decorated by different people in the workshop. Both show a ge appropriate wear and losses to the paint decoration. Only one retains the removable fuel tank inside the housing. The other retains only the top visible portion of the fuel tank. There are minor dents. Wear and losses as shown in the photos. The only visible markings are hand written'No 294' on the back of each. We lean towards an American origin attribution. But we leave that final determination to the buyer. The form is not often ... moreseen. Let alone with original decoration, they would certainly be a wonderful addition to any early lighting collection or to accessorize a 19th century country or primitive setting. Guerin NY stamped on the back of one of the sconces along with N51 on one side of the bottom and the other side is stamped No.There is an 8 stamped in middle top. The two candle sconces measure 15 inches long. They are 10 1/4 inches at their widest, and are 5 1/2 inches deep. The hanging sconces feature an open work bronze frame with mirror with two candle sticks below the mirror. At the top of the frame is a portrait of a bearded man. The candle sticks are bronze.The bronze has a dark gold patina or color which is all original. These are a matching pair of 1930 wall sconces. Please read the condition statement above and look closely at the pictures. I do not know what kind of metal they are made of. They are 10 1/4 inches from top to bottom. They are approximately 5 3/4 from side to side. The back reads RD 1930(which is the year my house was built and where they came from) And J.C. Presenting an exquisite pair of 1900's electric wall sconces with original stencil etched ruffled shades. The sconce arms are cast brass with a lovely cast acanthus leaf design. The 4" shade holders are cast brass. The backplate is spun brass. The sockets are Edison with long stems. The sconces were polished and laquered 30 years ago. Dimensions: backplate 4" x 7 3/4" 4" fitter, shades 7 1/2" diam x 4" arm extends 9" from wall. There are no chips or cracks in the shades. Just the typical fitter screw marks that do not show when the shade is mounted. Please note the fine detail and excellent condition of theses lamps as shown in the photos. 2 WONDERFUL ANTIQUE HANDMADE FRENCH PETITPOINT LIGHT, LAMP SCONCES SHADES
Hello. This and most of the auctions I will be listing this week are for some of the most special things I have ever listed on Ebay. This auction is for 2 Antique handmade French passementerie petite clip on lamp sconces. They have some wonderful Antique ribbon with glisteny metal thread. And a very finely done petitpoint scene of flowers As you can see by the photos they are not in perfect condition. There looks to be some rust stains throught both on the ribbon part and in the petitpoint area and also on the backs. There are also some some small holes show to the sconces. On the one in the center of the bouquet and the other has a very small slit in the front located directly through from the back of where the clip attaches and has rusted through(I have shown in the pictures. Hopefully someone in ebay land will know how to restore. I am ... moresure that the frames can be cleaned by those that know what they are doing. These wonderful shades along with some others that I will be listing this week were stored in an attic boxed up for many many decades and had been brought by the family to Indiana from California and were in the estate of the family that had loaned their furniture in the making of the film Gone With The Wind. I dought these were in the film there's no way to know that but the furniture was auctioned off a few years ago in California and I was told brought over $600,000.00 by the person I got these from. These must have never found their way into the auction since they were in the attic. These cute little shades probably have a name but I do not know what it is or if they were for tiny boudoir lamps or wall sconces. In any case to find so many different kinds and the fact they have any material on them at all is amazing. They are all so sweet and I just had to get them. Rare Signed Pair of Peter Ompir Toleware Candle Sconces Near Mint! No Reserve!
This auction is for a very rare pair of toleware candle sconces signed by master toleware artist Peter Ompir. These sconces are beautifully painted with a still life image of a pear surrounded by grapes. With gold accents and scalloped tops. They measure about 10" tall and 4 1/2" wide. The back side of the sconces are olive green and both are signed in black by Peter Ompir. If you collect toleware you know that Peter Ompir is one of the most well known tole artists of the 20th century, I searched online and was unable to find any pairs of candle sconces painted by him, so they are obviously very rare. These sconces are in almost perfect condition. There are no chips or cracks to the paint, no dents, and they appear to have never been used.
