Antique Japanese Satsuma Vase, Edo Period? c. 1840-60, Signed
In examination of this vase it appears that it is from the Edo period-it is much like one on ebay that has been attributed to that era.however if you can read or translate what it says on the bottom of the vase and it says differently I shall revise the listing-comments would be appreciated.anyway to the best of my knowledge this is antique and in good condition. Someone must have used it for a bud vase as it has a little tiny bit of mineral deposit around the mouth of the vase. The colorful floral pattern is pleasing and beautifully painted. It measures about 5 1/4" tall. The ebay shipping calculator should be used as a guide only! Actual shipping is governed by weight and size restrictions and multipliers that the shipping calculator does not include! Antique Japanese Satsuma Tea Caddy-Children in Panels
This is a very nice old Japanese Satsuma tea caddy-the jar with lid and also an inner pierced lid. The piece also has a small black wooden stand. But not sure this is original or not. The caddy is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It does have very minor wear to some of the enameling, to be expected with an old piece. Also, there is the typical crazing for Satsuma ware. The piece measures approx. 4 1/2" tall by 3 3/4" at the widest point, not including the wooden stand. The design is the same on both sides and has two young boys in the panels. The colors are the typical oranges, light blues, whites and heavy gold work. There are no marks on the piece. A great old piece of Satsuma and in very good condition.

19th c Signed Satsuma Moriage Samurai Vase Green
Green earthenware vase with a Samurai on a cream ground on the front. And cherry blossoms on the reverse. The cherry blossoms, which are said to drop at the height of their beauty, were meant to symbolize the samurai ideal of dying honorably at the height of one's power, as well as the expected internal intellectual and poetic aspects of the samurai class. The decoration is highlighted by moriage and gold. Which gives a rich dimentional quality. The depiction of the samurai is fluid and full of life. This piece is signed in gold deep inside the underside of the vase. Which has preserved the signature nicely. There are three hanging holes in the top rim, but wear patterns suggest they were rarely if ever used. VG condition. See my store to browse other pottery and Asian antiques. Posted with

Yabu Miezan Butterfly Bowl Satsuma Japan Circa 1890
This is a wonderful piece done by the master Yabu Miezan. A satsuma style of art this amazing tea bowl can be yours today. Use it to complete a set or as a beautiful piece to enhance a private collection. Please note that while this piece is a fabulous piece of masterful art it has been used. The wear on this piece is noted in the pictures. To better elaborate the inside enameling is quite worn from use. The gilt around the edge of the bowl is quite worn down so that the majority of the gilt is missing. Again please note the pictures. Please send me a message if you have any questions or need any more pictures. As a side note the gilt is very easily fixed and I have estimates for repairs of this bowl available upon request. Similar tea bowls can sell for 6,000 usd and up. Thank you.

EXQUISITE ANTIQUE JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE - Fine Meiji 1800's Signed Ceramic
STUNNING ANTIQUE JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE Exquisite Raised Gilding. Meiji Period(c. 1890) Spectacular Japanese ceramic vase of the finest Satsuma quality. Exquisite. Intricate detail from every angle, featuring hand painted images of Samurai and Daimyo(Lords) with their families, clad in beautiful kimonos with intricate hand-painted brocades, and ornate Samurai armor. Eight finely detailed reserves band round the piece, each containing a tasteful and artistic scene. Men, women, children and scholars, surrounded by harmonious naturescapes and graceful arching trees. The figures are exceptionally well painted with minute details that must have been done with a single-haired brush. The surface is further ornately gilt with sublime micro sized raised gilding that highlights all of the varied and gorgeous brocades of their kimonos, fans, armor, hairpieces, ... moreand swords. The gilding extends to the areas between the reserves, filling the space with remarkable intricacy in traditional Japanese nishikide patterns: kame(tortoiseshell) karakusa(arabesque) Seigaiha(waves) and many others. Too much to list, see photos for all of the amazing detail. This superb vase is in excellent antique condition, and must have taken innumerable hours of concentrated hand craftsmanship to produce, then been carefully stored by all of the fortunate owners for over 100 years. Photographs cannot do justice to this piece, as it is absolutely stunning in person. Signed on the underside, this impeccable vase measures approximately 6 1/8" tall. RARE Pre WWI Satsuma Cup & Saucer with 2 Birds Signed
Antique Satsuma Pre WWI Cup and Saucer RARE with 2 Birds Inside Signed This small cup and saucer measures about 4 1/4 inches for the saucer and 2 7/8 inches for the cup. They are very light and in excellent condition. There is no damage and do not appear to have been used. We took this to an auction house for a description. He advised that this is a very rare cup and saucer as it has two flying birds inside the saucer. Someone who collects rare cups and saucers will be thankful to find this one. He said it is Pre WWI but not much more. The woman who owned this Satsuma cup and saucer is in her 90s and needing to dispose of items that have been in her family for many years. She said this belonged to her mother who came from Poland. She remembers it being in the china cabinet but does not remember anything else about it. Her mother told her ... morethat it was very rare. When we downsized from 3200 to 1600 square feet and moved to a retirement community we sold all excess items on eBay. Since moving here we have found there are many who want to dispose of items they have collected over the years that either their children don't want. They are downsizing again or they need to raise the money. We are thankful that we can offer these prized items on eBay so they can continue to be enjoyed. SHIPPING: eBay figures our shipping cost. We used Priority Mail for shipping; however. We gladly change shipping to that of your choice and combine purchases. We supply the packaging at our cost and charge only actual shipping cost and insurance. PAYMENT: Please pay with PayPal within three days or contact me through eBay if you need longer. WELCOME NON-US BUYERS. I will ship worldwide; however. I will not modify the custom forms. Import duties. Taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.

Japanese Cat Satsuma Gilt Painting Enamel Art Deco Asian Imari Kutani Decorative
Large Vintage Japanese Porcelain Sleeping Cat in Satsuma Style with Heavily Gilt Painting and Polychrome Enamel Flowers I am in the process of re-aligning my collection. In the coming weeks, I will list some fine items from Germany. France, England, China, and Japan. So stay tuned! Up for sale is the following: ONE(1) Large Vintage Heavily Gilt Polychrome Enamel Japanese Porcelain Sleeping Cat in Satsuma Style. Yes. The cat is BIG! It is over 1 foot long and weights over 5 lb. I bought this wonderful Japanese artwork many years ago in London. At the time I was on a business trip in U.K. And on that day I stopped by a local antique shop on my way back to my hotel. The owner was a very nice guy, but after 10 minutes in the shop I simply did not find anything interesting to buy. I was about to leave, and then I saw an object on the floor right ... morenext to the exit door. I asked the owner: What is that? He said: That is a doorstop. I picked it up and said: Well, it looks like a cat to me. The owner answered: Yes. It is a cat-shape doorstop. Of course I asked him if he would sell it. Of course he said yes. And of course we completed the transaction at a price I will never tell anyone about. The doorstop of a British store is. In reality, a fine sample of Japanese porcelain craftsmanship. The shape of the porcelain cat is modeled after Nemuri Neko(the Peacefully Sleeping Cat) A famous wood carving by Hidari Jingoro(左甚五郎の作) located in the East corridor at Tosho-gu Shrine(日光東照宮) in Nikko, Japan. And the style of the porcelain cat is the famous Japanese Satsuma style with abundant moriage(beads" on the porcelain surface) rich gilt(gold) and hand-painted enamel on creamy-color crackle glaze. And there is more. If you take a closer look on the back of the cat. You can clearly see an Japanese style drawing painted mostly in gold. In it are three female figures within a garden setting. The woman in the middle appears to be much taller and much better dressed than the other two women. Since they are all in many

Japanese Satsuma Teapot, Cups & Saucers Ceramic Ware Dragonware, Meiji Choshuzan
This set of 4 tea cups. 5 saucers, and dragon teapot are from my friend's collection, which we are slowly liquidating. The items appear to be Satsuma Dragonware from the Meiji period in Japan, made somewhere between 1868 and 1912, bearing the marks and artistic qualities of the Choshuzan style. These sets don't show up often! Much more info can be found here: As you can see. These pieces bear many marks(artist, guild, potter, painter, etc. and exquisite detail. The first row of characters matches those from the Gotheborg site: The three top characters read, from right to left- Dai Nippon. The next row(s) appears to match: The four characters in the centre read Satsuma. Jitsu Sei, but it's difficult to tell for sure. It could be that only the top right character of the middle two rows matches. One of the saucers has a small chip ... morein the upper right area. And the teapot has a few rough spots that are pictured. Please look over the photos closely and ask if you have any questions. If you're looking at this auction seriously. You probably already know more about the set than I do! This is sold as-is, with no guarantee of authenticity or age, as we simply don't know its history with any certainty. The condition is excellent, however, and it will be packaged very well.
