Vintage ORIGINAL SATSUMA MORIAGE VASES PARROTS W/GOLD GILT BEADWORK
This is an original pair of Satsuma Moriage porcelain vases. They have extensive gold gilt beadwork which was originally called"slip work" because of the process, these date between 1880-1912, notice the IMPRESSED makers mark on the bottoms in picture 6, you will see an"I" and"X" on them respectively, you will see others on the net, but they will not have impressed marks or they will have panel work that is printed on them, dont be fooled, they are simply fakes, these are the real deal, look particularyl at the gold gilt work, you will see imperfections,over runs,look at the glazing on inside,you will see imperfections that result from the slip work process. Antique Japanese Satsuma Tea Caddy-Children in Panels
This is a very nice old Japanese Satsuma tea caddy-the jar with lid and also an inner pierced lid. The piece also has a small black wooden stand. But not sure this is original or not. The caddy is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It does have very minor wear to some of the enameling, to be expected with an old piece. Also, there is the typical crazing for Satsuma ware. The piece measures approx. 4 1/2" tall by 3 3/4" at the widest point, not including the wooden stand. The design is the same on both sides and has two young boys in the panels. The colors are the typical oranges, light blues, whites and heavy gold work. There are no marks on the piece. A great old piece of Satsuma and in very good condition.

Green earthenware vase with a Samurai on a cream ground on the front. And cherry blossoms on the reverse. The cherry blossoms, which are said to drop at the height of their beauty, were meant to symbolize the samurai ideal of dying honorably at the height of one's power, as well as the expected internal intellectual and poetic aspects of the samurai class. The decoration is highlighted by moriage and gold. Which gives a rich dimentional quality. The depiction of the samurai is fluid and full of life. This piece is signed in gold deep inside the underside of the vase. Which has preserved the signature nicely. Antique Satsuma Pre WWI Cup and Saucer RARE with 2 Birds Inside Signed This small cup and saucer measures about 4 1/4 inches for the saucer and 2 7/8 inches for the cup. They are very light and in excellent condition. There is no damage and do not appear to have been used. We took this to an auction house for a description. He advised that this is a very rare cup and saucer as it has two flying birds inside the saucer. Someone who collects rare cups and saucers will be thankful to find this one. He said it is Pre WWI but not much more. The woman who owned this Satsuma cup and saucer is in her 90s and needing to dispose of items that have been in her family for many years. It has been handdecorated on the inside with seven figures dressed in dark brown and blackrobes with gilded detail and a large black dragon with a white head and wholebody decorated with white stippled detail. I bought this wonderful Japanese artwork many years ago in London. At the time I was on a business trip in U.K. And on that day I stopped by a local antique shop on my way back to my hotel. The owner was a very nice guy, but after 10 minutes in the shop I simply did not find anything interesting to buy. I was about to leave, and then I saw an object on the floor right ... morenext to the exit door. I asked the owner: What is that? He said: That is a doorstop. I picked it up and said: Well, it looks like a cat to me. The owner answered: Yes. It is a cat-shape doorstop. Of course I asked him if he would sell it. Of course he said yes. And of course we completed the transaction at a price I will never tell anyone about. The doorstop of a British store is. In reality, a fine sample of Japanese porcelain craftsmanship. The shape of the porcelain cat is modeled after Nemuri Neko(the Peacefully Sleeping Cat) A famous wood carving by Hidari Jingoro(左甚五郎の作) located in the East corridor at Tosho-gu Shrine(日光東照宮) in Nikko, Japan. There are also a Tea Pot that is 6 3/4" wide(handle to spout) with 3 5/8" diameter opening and is 3 7/8" deep(approx. The design of the cups are continued to these items with a circular decorrated top multicolred gold/blue circle and small birds in flight around all three pots. The Sugar bowl is 5 1/2"approx. handle to handle with an 3 3/8" opening and 3 5/8" deep(approx. The creamer is 4 7/8" handle to spout. 2 5/8" opening and 3 1/8" deep. All pieces are in perfect condition except the lid of the dish that has one long crack that I glued years ago. The lid is still beautiful. All the pieces feature a beautiful male peacock with a border of terra-cotta color with gold designs through it. The plate and vase are not marked, but the jar has the floral Satsuma mark on the bottom, and the dish has the simpler Satsuma mark. These pieces are quite lovely and perfect for the peacock fan. Japanese Satsuma Teapot, Cups & Saucers Ceramic Ware Dragonware, Meiji Choshuzan
This set of 4 tea cups. 5 saucers, and dragon teapot are from my friend's collection, which we are slowly liquidating. The items appear to be Satsuma Dragonware from the Meiji period in Japan, made somewhere between 1868 and 1912, bearing the marks and artistic qualities of the Choshuzan style. These sets don't show up often! Much more info can be found here: As you can see. These pieces bear many marks(artist, guild, potter, painter, etc. and exquisite detail. The first row of characters matches those from the Gotheborg site: The three top characters read, from right to left- Dai Nippon. The next row(s) appears to match: The four characters in the centre read Satsuma. Jitsu Sei, but it's difficult to tell for sure. It could be that only the top right character of the middle two rows matches. One of the saucers has a small chip ... morein the upper right area. And the teapot has a few rough spots that are pictured. Please look over the photos closely and ask if you have any questions. If you're looking at this auction seriously. You probably already know more about the set than I do! This is sold as-is, with no guarantee of authenticity or age, as we simply don't know its history with any certainty.
