19th Century Meiji Period Japanese Emperor Satsuma Vase Cobalt Blue. Black and Gold Lamp Kinkozan Zo? Overall height to top of finial is approximately ... more28" The vase height including the wood base is approximately 12.5" with vase diameter at the widest point of 6.25" This turn of the century satsuma vase appears to be in good to very good condition with no chips or cracks seen by this seller. Near the lower edge there is a white mark and a line in the cobalt finish that to the naked eye looks like a chip and hairline crack however upon closer examination it is actually white paint and a glaze indent or production flaw. Also appropriate to age you will find crazing mainly on the lighter colored glaze used for the mountain background and a few areas where the beaded or applied gild or moriage design is missing or worn from age. The two working brass or brass like bulb lamp fixtures(marked Eagle) with vintage bell chain pulls are also in good to very good condition. Also evidentiary to age is the original wiring. This absolutely wonderful Satsuma vase with heavily gilded gold or moriage accents is believed to be from the 19th century meiji period. The artistic character and style is extremely consistent with others hand painted by Kinkozan Zo or Zho. I did attempt to remove the wood base to look for a signature on the vase but after removing the nut the wood base felt like it was attached to the vase. I thought it best to go no further. The bottom of the wood base does have an impressed made in japan mark and it looks like what may be a faded signature mark in japanese character symbols. Letters, or numbers. Please review the pictures for the most accurate description. Since. It Tis the Season, items will be shipped within 1-2 days of receipt of cleared payment. OOP! 1/35 Special Purpose Submarine Satsuma (Godzilla 2001) by Liberty Planet
Hi Folks, This is a resin kit from Liberty Planet in 1/35th Scale of the Special Purpose Submarine Satsuma. Which appeared in" Godzilla 2001" Sonce I bought the kit from Hobbylink Japan. Inc. it strikes me as fair to include their description of this model: They say you should always use the right tool for the job at hand. And when that job is putting a hole in Godzilla, the right tool is undoubtedly the Special Purpose Submarine Satsuma with its D-03 drilling warhead! No spoilers here. But if you want to see if the Satsuma succeeded in perforating the Big G, check out 2001's"Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. This partially-assembled and fully painted 1/35-scale replica of the Satsuma features accurate and intricate detail to replicate the on-screen miniature. And includes a classy stand with ... morenameplate. Decals are also included, but there is no indication as to where they go. Time to break out the DVD! Requires some assembly. Super glue or epoxy glue is recommended. Measures 19.5 cm(7.7 inches) when assembled. It's an easy build too. There are only ten pieces plus the stand! Paypal Only Please. No returns, but any complaint will be fairly resolved. I ship by Priority Mail. Superb Quality LARGE Meiji Japanese Satsuma-Imari Samurai or Kabuki figure. Brand/Provenance: Satsuma. Japan. Age: Meiji Period(1868- 1912) Size: The piece measures 11 1/2" 29cm) in height X 6 3/4" 17cm) in width. Artist/signature: The piece is unsigned but the quality of the detail closely compares to that found on figures produced by Kinkozan. Condition: The piece is in good condition overall. One thumb is missing. The top of the sword, tiny chip to the top rim and both feet are chipped away. NO other issues, easy repairs. Comments: A superb Japanese Satsuma figure from the Meiji period. The figure is of either a Japanese Warrior/Samurai or ... morea Kabuki theatre figure. Dressed like a Samurai for a performance. This exquisite piece is decorated in stunning gosu blue style enamels, including jade green, blue, ochre red/orange, gold, a little yellow and white. The attention paid to detail is quite remarkable, especially on his lower garments which are entirely patterned with raised white decoration, depicting Ho-o birds and geometric patterns. The figure is also dressed with a large Kimono robe which he has pulled over his head, revealing all the exquisite details on the reverse. These include a mystical Dragon surfacing from the crashing waves beneath, with streams of cloud surrounding. The front-top half of the figure is simply covered in a jade green with bands of brown and gilt running across. He is also masked with a type of bandana. Which would also be part of his character in the theatre performance. His eyes and hair are also painted on with the most meticulous attention paid to detail of each single eyebrow strand of hair. RARE FIND! SIGNED ANTIQUE SATSUMA DISH BOWL W/ A MOTHER BREASTFEEDING HER CHILD
RARE SIGNED ANTIQUE SATSUMA DISH/BOWL OF A MOTHER BREASTFEEDING HER CHILD. A REMARKABLE WORK OF ART FOR THE DISCERNING COLLECTOR. I have carefully searched both online and in conversation with other antique dealers and there is nothing like this that appears anywhere. I’m not saying there aren’t any other pieces of Satsuma painted with a mother nursing her baby. Just that I have been unable to find another one. This is not production line Satsuma where each one is hand painted but the designs/themes are seen in mass produced amounts and various incarnations: i.e. the eight immortals, a gathering of geishas, women with playing children, samurai warriors fighting on and off horseback, clusters of flowers, etc. This is a rare find. If you believe the Buy It Now price to be high, especially as it is not a large size, I respectfully suggest you ... moretry and find a similarly themed piece of Satsuma. You also have the option of making a fair offer. I have owned this dish for over 40 years and bought it from an antique dealer who at that time had also had it for many years. I can’t tell you how old this is exactly. And I would certainly appreciate if any eBayers out there have an idea or can decipher the signature. But what I do know is that it is the most unusual piece of Satsuma I have ever seen: it is a mother breastfeeding her baby while sitting next to a row of brown plantings, with flowers to the side and behind her. In the sky above is either the sun or the moon( with stylized abstract clouds. There is cloth folded beside her and a stand with cloth on it in front of her. She is looking up and smiling, as though someone off to the side has spoken to her, and you can actually see the happiness on her face. The depiction of a nursing mother is respectful, it’s obvious that her garment is moved aside on her chest, but there is no gratuitous nudity. The painting is so skillful that she has a very real personality; and unlike some lovely but very stylized generic women painted on Satsuma ceramic items, I truly believe sh

Japanese Kutani Satsuma Foo Dog / Shishi - 11 inches Tall
This beautiful kutani ShiShi or Fou Dog is in the Satsuma style. The Body is in a red-brown textured glaze; the tuffs of fur(e.g. Tail, mane, hare on legs) are in white with gold highlights. There are flower-like Roundels throughout the body. The ball that the lion stands upon is both Satsuma(right side) and 3-D. The 3-D side is dark brown or black with a dragon with a gold pearl flying over the blue ocean. The piece is signed on the bottom. There are 2 stamps, the upper stamp is KuTani(right side) and the artist's or potter's name(left side) Below the Kutani stamp is another stamp of 3 characters followed by a star-shaped object. This may have been some kind of commemorative piece. I base dating primarily on the signature, which I think indicates it is pre-1950s; perhaps in the 1920s or 1930s. The 3-characters are a bit difficult ... moreto read because the base is concave. Statue stands a about 11 inches tall and about 9 inches long. It is in very good condition. A bit dusty, probably also due to age.

SATSUMA*? PORCELAIN POTTERY TEA POT CUP & SAUCER GILDED GEISHA not marked hl 12
Some of the criteria fits the description for*SATSUMA. Please bid on what you are seeing, rather than my researched guess. Inspect the decoration. The most striking feature of Satsuma ware is its heavy use of gilding to create patterned rims and borders. And to delineate features of garments, buildings and landscapes. Common subjects include scenes from everyday life, saints, warriors and geisha girls. The piece is often divided into several different panels or"reserves" and there can be a sense of overlapping profusion. The TEA POT is missing its lid and a very small chip in the spout. Cup and saucer have no damge. The design. Enameling, gilding and tinting is quite intricate and well done. There are no markings on any of these pieces. They are delicate and“egg shell thin” See photo with light through the saucer. Size: teapot 3.75” ... moretop of handle. 3.5” diameter saucer 4.25” diameter. Cup 1.75” dia, 2” tall Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is the start of an estate that I will be listing in the next few weeks. There are some very interesting and unique items to put up for auction. Those of you who have bid on my Fenton and art glass maybe interested in some of the glassware to come.

Very Nice Signed Pair of Japanese Satsuma Plates by Shozan
Each of these plates are very nicely enameled with one depicting snowy egrets amongst blossoming irises and the other showing sparrows in a bamboo setting. They both have a red Shozan seal and I believe the other seal reads Shenzan. They measure 7.8" in diameter and are late Meiji Period. About 1910 or so. Both of these beautiful plates are free of any chips. Dings or restorations and only some minor gilt wear is present on the rim. Being that Satsuma earthenware is somewhat porous, often times smoke from the kiln causes some discoloration in the blank. Each of these plates have some of this common discoloration. We accept Paypal and other forms of payment. If you prefer to use a different payment method. Please contact us prior to bidding.

Vintage Satsuma Style Vase Hand Painted 8" Japanese Floral Butterflies Colorful
Up F or your consideration: A very exquisite Satsuma style vase that is beautifully Hand Painted Cracke d Porcelain. It stands about 8" tall and is artistically done in Vibrant Colorful Flowers and Lovely butterflies. Stands about 8" tall and is about 5-1/2" at the widest point with a small 2-3/4" mouth. The brilliant gold outlining is what I believe really makes the vase stand out. Even though this particular vase is unmarked I believe it to be Samatsu. With that in mind I also believe it to be from Japan(Real Satsuma wasn't made anywhere else) but I am not positive and cannot fully guarantee this. I am also unaware of the date it was manufactured. I did try to represent the beauty of this item wi th my p ictures. But pictures alone cannot really do this vase any justice. It is quite a stunning piece in my humble ... moreopinion. Please check out my other auctions in my store. I have other vases that"look" like Satsuma but I know that they are only copies as they say"made in China" on them or say"Satsuma" in English. This listing however could be for real. I will pack it very carefully and I gladly combine shipping Thanks for looking! Rare Japanese Tea Set Satsuma Flying Crane 1880-1920 Moriage
This is a beautiful 5 piece Japanese tea set. There is crazing on all pieces which is typical and expected in old pieces. This set has Japanese Kanji writing on the bottom of the teapot and the saucer and on the side pattern parts of all of the other pieces. The patterns of this writing are all different from each other. It comes with one tea cup. One saucer, one creamer, one teapot and one sugar bowl. The teapot and sugar bowl both have their lids. It is a beautiful pattern with dainty birds and flowers. The color is an off-white with touches gold throughout. The handles and details of the set are green and the birds have blue and pink throughout. The paint is raised giving the pieces a great texture. There are no chips or cracks EXCEPT one chip on the lip of the creamer, one slight chip on the bottom of the creamer and one slight rough ... morespot on the side of the saucer. The top of the creamer has a delicate rolling of the ceramic for the spout and sides. The handles and tops of the lids resemble bamboo. The creamer is 4 inches tall, the sugar bol and teapot are approximately 3 1/2 inches tall. The saucer is 5 inches across. The cup is 2 1/2 inches across and almost 2 1/2 inches tall. This information was from a website about these items: Satsuma pottery was made in. Or around Kagoshima in Kyushu, Japan in the later part of the 19th century, through to the early 1920's in Satsuma in southern Japan. A typical piece if Satsuma pottery will be of a yellowy complexion and usually decorated with intricate and minute Japanese figures. Landscapes and even dragons. The designs also feature a form of decration called moriage which is a term used to describe the use of raised enamel of Japanse pottery. I am not a professional collector. I do not own a business. I try to describe the items to the best of my untrained ability. I do not have any of the items professionally graded or appraised. My prices may be too low or too high. But I am asking what I think they are worth. I do not give returns to anyone who claims that

Antique Satsuma Biwa w/bachi Japanese Japan
This Satsuma Biwa is the traditional original type that was played by the Samurai in feudal Japan. And used thereafter mainly to recount heroic war stories and battles between rival clans. Since then it’s repertoire has developed and spread into other genres, but it is still primarily used for recounting Heike and Genji old stories even today. This particular piece is by my estimation from the early 1900s, definitely during or before the WWII period. The condition is very good and there are no cracks at all in the wood. All of the original decoration is intact. Originally this biwa had a neck that would separate from the body(as Chikuzen do) but at some point one of the previous owners glued it in permanently and painted it. This makes no difference. As most Satsuma do not separate and there is no practical reason in this day and age to have ... moresuch a feature anyway. The first fret(chu) is the original fret. The other 3 frets I had replaced a few years ago before moving back to the states. It has not been played at all since. So you are starting out with virgin frets. I just put on a brand new string set also. I will send a couple of spares of the high string, as these are the first to break. I will also send you a CD of the tuning using this very instrument, for you to refer to for tuning until you can get your bearings. The sound of this biwa is very nice with good sawari(buzz) It is fully functional and ready for you to enjoy. The bachi is also in very fine condition and can still be used regularly for another decade. The size is.37 3/4" long.12 5/8" wide.about 2" deep. Please have a look at the photos and feel free to ask questions.
Vintage 18" Royal Satsuma Vase With Enamel & Gilt
18 inches tall. And in great shape. There are small white dots to flowers, etc. that add dimension. It appears that the gilt is hand applied as it does go outside the line sometimes, but other times is also dimensional and very finely detailed. My dad had this in the house for quite some time, but it ended up in the cellar and he finally told me I could sell it. Your choice of priority mail or parcel select in the U.S. but because of weight must be priority for you foreign bidders.
