An antique redware preserve jar. The jar is glazed on both the inside and out side with a manganese-lead glaze. It has two lines of tool work decoration at the shoulder(where the straight sides meet the neck of the jar) on the outside. As you can see from the photos, the outside of the pot has a nice dark glaze indicative of manganese glazing. Date: Late 1800s or early 1900s. Origin: Southeastern Pennsylvania. Size: 3 3/4" in diameter at the top. 4 1/2" in diameter at the base, and is ~6 1/2" in height Maker: Unknown. Marks: None. Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: Beautiful rich deep dark brown color glaze inside and out with distinguishing dark spots indicative of manganese glaze. Condition: The jar is in very god condition with no chips. Cracks, repairs, crazing or hairlines. It does have some scratches and several small spots where the glaze is lost. Finally as is the case with all these primitive old redarware pieces, the jar has a few of the usual defects you would expect such as pops, unglazed areas and uneven spots. Antique Clinton. Missouri Redware Large Jug Likely Jegglin Up for auction is a large redware jug from Clinton. Henry County, Missouri. I am assuming that it was made at one of the potteries in that town. It might have even been made by my great grand uncles Johann Caspar Thoma or William Thoma. This jug bears great similarity of jugs made by Michael Jegglin of Boonville, Missouri. And both he and his son, E. A. Jegglin, operated a pottery mill in Calhoun, Missouri. This jug is 9 1/2" in diameter; 11" in height; and weighs 9 pounds. It is marked with a large E which I assume is the jug size. The bottom of this piece of stoneware is flat with no markings. Berks County, Southeastern Pennsylvania This is a beautiful redware decorative piece made by master potter Lester Breininger. With Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. A Great addition to your redware collection. Large. Lovely contemporary pottery egg, sgraffito decorated over yellow clay slip( on redware by Lester Brieninger. It has a design of a stylized bird, sun, flower, grass and decorative star pattern with additional glaze in black and dark yellow. The back of the egg is also glazed clear over ground, and has the maker's mark. The point where the yellow color and the brown colors meet is highlighted with green(copper oxide) sponged decoration. This egg measures: ~3 1/4" long and is ~2 1/8" high and ~2 1/8" wide. Marks: on the bottom. The pot has a flat round shaped base. Which flares upwards with rounded side ending in a neck and the flares to a straight plain rim. The rim has an inside ledge on which a lid would rest. The pot comes with a round redware and manganese glazed lid having a central large finial. The lid has the same diameter as the pot's top opening, but is obviously not the original lid to the piece which would have been smaller in diameter so it would rest on the inside ledge of the rim. However, this is the way we acquired the piece and we are selling it as found. The lid has the same glazing and looks great ... morewith the pot. The beautiful pot and lid are glazed with manganese glaze and show beautiful black blotches on a nice and rich brown background. The pot is glazed inside and out. For Your consideration I have an early Pennsylvania Redware Jug with an applied handle in an Ovoid. There are no cracks or hairlines. There are a couple of small nibbles at the mouth of the jug. pictures 8& 9) There is a little chip on the applied handle. This was a circa 1830 jug that has survived almost 2 hundred years. It measures 11 3/4" long by 9 3/4" high by 5 1/2" wide and is in good condition. It has a 1 1/2" long thin chip on the front of the base and some smaller chips and flakes here and there but is basically in good condition. Antique Redware Covered Casserole 7in Mexico Handpainted Flower Bowl Terra Cotta
Mexican redware pottery covered casserole dish that is about 7& 1/4 inches and just under 4 inches tall. This beautiful piece of pottery is terra cotta colored with a glaze and has handpainted white dot flowers around a black center. This is a traditional Mexican style of painting. The unique bowl has indents and marks that are consistent with handmade pottery. Small green handle on lid. I am not certain of the exact age but this was a common handmade item in Mexico and many tourists purchased it in their travels in the 30s-50s. No markings on this item. It is not intended for use in the oven.

Handmade. Handpainted Redware Whymsical Dog with a Monkey Riding on his Back. Redware figurine is 9" tall from base that dog is stnading on to top of monkey's hat. 6 1/2" long. 3" wide. Dog has basket of apples in his mouth. Monkey has a pipe in his mouth. A top hat on his head and a backpack on his back. Because each figurine is handmade and handpainted slight variations in design or color may occur. This is an intricate handmade redware piece that requires numerous steps to make. Hand Decorated Mexican Redware Clay Art Pottery Casserole Bowl with Handle NICE. This lovely handpainted/decorated casserole bowl measures approx. 5 1/2" across at top opening)approx. 6 3/4" across at the bottom widest part) approx. 3" high; approx. 9" from handle end to opposite end of bowl. Handpainted folk art design in blue. Green black and brown. This bowl is in excellent shape. These bowls typically have chips and cracks as they are very fragile. No chips. Cracks or breaks in this bowl. There may be a few rub marks on the top edge. Even the paint is in good to excellent condition. Bottom of bowl is rough and rustic looking which is typical. There is also an embosse/raised signature and/or letters and numbers. I cannot make it out(see pix) We try to be as descriptive about our items as possible.
