Lg. Early ANTIQUE REDWARE Stoneware OVOID CROCK Jar Jug Incised - RARE Handles
Lg. Early ANTIQUE REDWARE Stoneware OVOID CROCK Jar Jug Incised- RARE Handles This listing is for an early antique stoneware redware ovoid shape handled crock or storage jar with primitive. Out of round form. The handles on this crock are very unusual and rare. They look to be formed or pulled from the piece. Rather than applied as is commonly seen. The crock is indented, creating a recess behind each handle that allows for carrying. The handles are joined to the main body of the crock on each end. They have an arched shape that makes them easy and comfortable to hold on to. It seems to be an ingenious design. Yet I have not seen this type of handle before. And cannot find another example in any of the American stoneware pottery books. This utilitarian crock or jar was given some beautiful decorative touches with both incised and raised banding ... morearound the body of the piece. At the mouth. There is a rolled rim with two incised bands beneath. In the middle, at handle height, the crock has four raised bands that encircle it at the widest point. The glaze on this jar is stunning. With a wide range of color. There are shapes formed by the glaze that look almost like letters, perhaps a mark of some sort? Or maybe just a happy accident. I believe this piece is quite old. Dating to the early to mid 19 th century. Possibly even the late 18 th century. Though I don’t know the exact age. It measures approx. 12” tall and 12” across the widest point. The mouth is approx. 8-8 ½” across and the base measures 6 ¼” in diameter. The handles are approx. 3 ¼” long x ½” thick. The jar is in very good antique condition. It has appropriate wear for a utilitarian pottery piece of this age. The piece has no cracks or other structural damage. The lip of the crock shows a fair amount of age related wear. Most of the wear is superficial only. With a number of areas where the glaze has flaked or chipped off, but there are just a couple of shallow surface chips as well(please see pictures. The exterior body of the piece is

Lovely Rustic Redware Pottery Tile Ellison Mark Hand Signed Art Deco Angel
Lovely Rustic Redware Pottery Tile Ellison Mark Hand Signed Art Deco Angel Went to the flea market this weekend hoooray- so happy to have it back. Lotsandlotsandlots of antiques and unique for you this week. And I’ll be listing all week, so be sure to keep checking! This one is a beaut. It is a rustic redware pottery tile that is marked"Ellison" inside of a rectangle on the backside. As well as hand signed in a circle beneath it- with initials that look like IC or something C. It measures 6" by 4 7/8" by 15/16" thick and weighs a hefty 1 1/2 lbs. The high relief image of a very art deco styled angel is in the center, actually, the edges are high, and they bevel down to the center several times. The finish is creamy off white accented with gold. I think it looks more like paint than glaze- see what you think. I can ... morealso see peeks of green and blue- only if you look really closely- supersize photo 6 to see what I mean. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition- as I said above. This is a rustic piece of redware pottery- rustic by design, with lots of divots, lines, bumps and burps original to the making. I cannot find any damage to the pottery, but I do see spots of wear to the finish where you can see down to the redware- I don't know if this is original or wear, but it all works for this wonderful piece. There's a notch on the backside, just waiting for you to hang! Please ask if you have any questions. Or feel free to inform me if you have any information about one of my listings. As with any of my items, if you ever need extra pictures, let me know, just make sure that you give me an email address to send them to. Pick up is welcome on all of my items. I’m happy to combine shipments for you, but I do ask that there be no more than 7 days from the purchase of the first item- I will invoice after 7 days, as I cannot hold the items longer than that. Also. Many of my items come from local rural estate sales and auctions. They are coming right from the barn or attic to you, dust,

Unusual Southern Redware Puzzle Jug- late 19th century- GEORGE OHR??
I’ll confess a secret. I have a passion for Southern pottery. I’ve bought“recklessly” for a couple of decades or more. Resulting in amis-matched collection that has always lacked focus. As such. It is well past time to beginliquidating examples that either don’t fit into the scope of our primaryinterests, or require more research than I have time to devote. Being only semi-educated in the field. I donot profess any expertise. I have boughtwhat spoke to me at the time. Keepingthat in mind. Please understand I cannot realistically offer guarantees of anyguesses or assumptions I might make. Forother pieces. I know exactly what we have, though it might not be a stellarexample worthy of a museum exhibit. Thatmeans we have pieces that will fit perfectly into the budgets& needs ofbeginning collectors. A few pieces maybe sleepers. So hopefully ... morethe open auction market will bring enough notice thatwe can make attributions and realize a fair market value. If you have questions. Feel free to ask and I’ll do my bestto answer, but if I don’t know, I’m going to be honest with you. Regardless. Ask away prior to the end of theauction, as I have no return policy. Allitems are shipped fully insured at the buyer’s expense. So breakage MUST beaddressed with the shipper involved. Ido not accept liability for damage in transit. Since existing damage from age, wear, use& abuse will be documented in the listing descriptions and viathe photographs. With all that said. Let’s look at some antiques. Is it. Ohr isn’t it? That is the question! No. I can’tanswer it with assurance, so that’s why my better half said to clear it off the TVstand before one of the kids breaks it. Right off. Let me say that I have no provenance on this. I bought it only as a piece of Southernredware that turned up in North Carolina. Wanting to add a regional Southernpuzzle pot to my collection. There areno marks. And the walls are of a heavy gage thickness of clay, but this was notmade by a high school art student. Puzzle jugs are complicated to design and fab

However, I do not sell items that stink, and if there ever is a slight odor of some kind, I would surely tell you. Also, FYI, I do have 2 cats. Regarding shipping: I use mostly recyclable materials and my rates have always been extremely fair. Occasionally I will need to purchase ... morea specific box or shipping material. Three Pieces Vintage Redware BULGARIA POTTERY One Ashtray, Two Small Pots
Lot of three pieces of vintage redware Bulgarian pottery. All have the reddish brown glaze. Accented with beige, dark brown, blue and orange. All have unglazed bottoms. The ashtray still has its yellowed paper label that says Made in Bulgaria, and has the word Mod followed by a hand-written number, 160. Neither pot has a label, although one of them has a tiny remnant of one. The ashtray measures 3-3/8" in diameter, and is 3/4" high. The sides are rounded outward, and there are two cigarette rests. There does not appear to be any damage from cigarette use. The pots are both about 2-1/2" high with a 1-1/8" top hole diameter. The bottoms are both about 1-1/4" The patterns on the sides are slightly different, although similar. All of these pieces are in very nice condition with no chips or cracks. One pot has a bit of ... morea rough edge around the inside of the top hole, but it's under the glaze so was made that way. Overall a great set of items to add to your Bulgarian pottery collection! Colorado buyers. Please note that sales tax of 6.4% will be added to invoice. International buyers. Please note that I will gladly mail to anyone, worldwide. However, import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. JUGTOWN Pottery Chicken Redware Bowl Large Early Mark? North Carolina
Nice Jugtown North Carolina Pottery Redware Bowl with hand-painted yellow chicken in the center. I'm no Jugtown expert. But from my research this looks to be an earlier mark. This very large bowl measures 10.75" from rim to rim, is 3.5" tall and has a 6" in diameter base. Now, this bowl has some condition issues. There has been a repair on one side of the rim, that is rough to the touch. Please see photos.
