Antique Primitive Pennsylvania Manganese and Lead Glazed Redware Preserve Jar Southeastern Pennsylvania For your Redware Collection Details Description: ... moreA very nice piece of American folk art. An antique redware preserve jar. The jar is glazed on both the inside and out side with a manganese-lead glaze. It has two lines of tool work decoration at the shoulder(where the straight sides meet the neck of the jar) on the outside. As you can see from the photos, the outside of the pot has a nice dark glaze indicative of manganese glazing. Date: Late 1800s or early 1900s. Origin: Southeastern Pennsylvania. Size: 3 3/4" in diameter at the top. 4 1/2" in diameter at the base, and is ~6 1/2" in height Maker: Unknown. Marks: None. Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: Beautiful rich deep dark brown color glaze inside and out with distinguishing dark spots indicative of manganese glaze. Condition: The jar is in very god condition with no chips. Cracks, repairs, crazing or hairlines. It does have some scratches and several small spots where the glaze is lost. Finally as is the case with all these primitive old redarware pieces, the jar has a few of the usual defects you would expect such as pops, unglazed areas and uneven spots. In Closing: This is a beautiful preserve jar in such good condition. Which seldom comes by. Definitely deserves a prominent spot in your redware collection. Native Redware Southwest Peru MINIATURE pottery jug vase thingy. Vintage, not new
Here is an interesting miniature(TINY) redware or pottery jug. It looks like some sort of Southwestern Native American pottery. But the little old piece of paper that came with it says"Arequipa, Peru" I assume that is where it was made and perhaps sold to a tourist back in the 40's or 50's. The jug has a sort of triangular design and is black. White and red pottery color. It measures a whopping 7/8 of an inch tall. Let me know if you have any questions.

19th C. Glazed Pennsylvania Redware Pitcher With Handle 10-1/2"H
Up for auction is a 19th century brown glazed redware pitcher in good condition. It does show signs of age with some minor chips to the glazing and some flea bites which is typical for primitive stoneware. This item was purchased less than 30 miles for southeastern Pennsylvania so I would assume this came from PA. However. I have no physical evidence that it did nor am I a expert on redware. I do believe this is a 1 gallon pitcher. Please see the pictures for actual condition as they are part of the description. Since the glazing is so old. You can see the ligher brown color showing through in some areas which gives it nice patina. Dimensions are 10-1/2"H X 7-1/2"W and the opening is 5" in diameter. Pitcher weighs just over 5 lbs. If you have any questions or would like more pictures. Please email me. Be sure to ask questions ... moreprior to placing your bid. Paypal payment is due within 72 hours of auctions end. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. Customer satisfaction is number one priority so before leaving negative feedback. Please contact me. Ancient Roman Römisch samian pottery terra sigillata redware with oillamp part
Roman terra sigillata pottery sherds found at Vechten(The Netherlands) Some information about Fectio(Vechten) Fectio. Modern Vechten, was a fort in the limes, the frontier zone of the Roman empire, situated at the site of the bifurcation of the rivers Rhine(which continued to the North Sea) and Vecht(to Lake Flevo and the Frisians) Numismatic evidence suggests that it was founded by the Roman general Tiberius(the future emperor) during the campaigns of 4/5. It was probably used as a military base during punitive raids. The civil settlement of Fectio was probably to the east of the fort. But excavation is not easy because there is a nineteenth-century military settlement on the site(Fort Vechten) However, the ancient fort itself is, together with Nijmegen, Vechten is one of the best excavated sites in the Netherlands; in 1894, it was the site ... moreof one of the first excavations of a Roman ship. In 40. The emperor Caligula visited Fectio when he was travelling to Lugdunum. The remains of a wine barrel from his personal vinyard have been found. Some thirty years later, the fortress was destroyed during the Batavian revolt and rebuilt as base of a cavalry squadron. The nearby Rhine had already started to silt up, and was later to change its course. Pottery from the kilns of the Tweny-second legion Primigenia at Xanten belongs to this period. During the reign of Antoninus Pius(138-161) the fort was again rebuilt. This time from brick and natural stone. However, by 200, the river had become silted-up and Fectio was no longer accessible by water. The military settlement was destroyed in 275 and not reoccupied. See also my other items. Combined shipping is possible. Please inform for combined shipping costs.

LRG. VINTAGE MEXICAN MICHOACAN REDWARE POTTERY COVERED CASSEROLE W/ LID&HANDLES
Offered at auction is this fabulous piece of Mexican pottery circa 1930's! This large. Lidded casserole was totally hand crafted in the Michoacan region of Mexico. The casserole holds 5 cups of liquid which is over 1 quart. Including both the side and lid handles, it measures 10" in diameter and 4 1/2" in height. The artist used the traditional Michoacan white dots around a black center to create a floral-like decoration around the pot as well as on the lid. Other than a spot of white paint and a spot of black paint on the rim of the casserole bowl, undoubtedly left by the artist, this 1930's, red ware, covered casserole is in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION! Thanks for viewing my auction, and be sure to look at the other interesting collectibles that I curren tly have up for bids.

RARE primitive redware pottery bank, early 1800's cast iron doorstop look
This listing is for a very rare and primitive antique bank untouched as found. It looks to be made of redware and dates back to the early1800's. It does have that aged look of cast iron which gives it a great appearance. This is truely a one of a kind find as I am sure not many of these survived through the times. There does appear to be a repair made to left rear leg but is still 100% complete. This bank stands 8" high and 8" long. Original pain
Redware Floor Vase 11" Tall with Painted Decoration
At auction is an interesting Redware Vase with a spatter/ drip painted outer decoration. The outer paint looks like it was applied. Left to drip and possibly refired. The body is a redware clay and the interior is a darker brown glaze. The vase is 11" tall and almost 10" across at the widest point. There are no chips. Cracks or hairlines on the vase. The only wear is the paint I believe went to the top and is worn down to where you now see it in the pictures. Email me with any questions. Thank you for looking and bidding. I have an Early American Redware pitcher also on ebay this week.please take a look.
Early American Redware Pitcher Tobacco Spit Like Glaze W/ Deep Brown Spatter 10"
At auction is an awsome Early American or Folk Art Redware Pitcher. The pitcher is actually 10 1/4" tall. 6" at the base and 7 1/2" at the widest point and has a great Tobacco Spit like glaze and brown spatter or wash decorating the overall piece. It looks like the maker added the dark brown glaze just to add character and was splashed across most of the piece. In looking online I found some similar pieces done in New England and possibly the Virginias. There are no marks indicating any maker as would be usual for such an old utilitarian piece. The pitcher was definately used as it has some hairline cracks and chips. Most all should be pictured and if you have any questions please email me. The handle has a single crack. There are chips at the base and one one the rim as pictured and a few other hairlines from the rim and base. ... moreThe bottom as you can see is dark from apparently being set on an open flame. Overall I believe this is a great Early American one of a kind piece that would make a great addition to any Redware collection. Email me with any questions. Thank you for looking and bidding.
