A Chupicuaro. Redware, tripod, rattle bowl with a very interesting black decorative pattern inside and out. The interior includes geometric patterns and ... morelines, and a zoomorphic condor or mythical bird within a fiery circle in the center of the interior. This circle is mirrored on the inside of and overlapping the top of the rim. The exterior and interior have two black lines around the center with a weave pattern in the interior between the uppermost line and the rim. All three legs are also decorated. The bowl has a rounded bottom and curved sides with a slightly flared rim, and the ovoid legs are hollow and contain rattles. In excellent condition, although visible flaking has occurred, with mineral deposits normal for its age and only a very few minor nicks. Original condition, not restored. Estimated age of 300 BCE- 300 CE. Approx. 6” diameter x 3 1/8” high with the bowl about 2 ½” deep.Provenance- This item was recently purchased from the estate of the late Willis Pratt, a career academic at the University of Texas in Austin. Vintage Liquor Decanter Cowboy Redware Japan Lasso Red Ware Bar Ware This auction is for a vintage red ware liquor decanter in the shape of a sitting cowboy with a lariat at his waist. It is about 8 1/4" tall. I don't think the cork is original. There are no chips or cracks and only minimal paint loss. There is a manufacturing flaw near the bottom in the front where the glaze was missed. Still has the original paper Japan sticker on the bottom. Please check out my other items and save with combined shipping. IMPORTANT- If you win more than one auction. Please do not pay until I send you an invoice reflecting the combined shipping. North African Redware Pottery Fragment NT Parable of the Vinyard 350-420AD
North African Redware Pottery Lamp Fragment Biblical"Tree Man" sacrificing Isaac. 350-420AD. Rare! One of the oldest known motifs of this scene. Very important early Christian fragment depicting a man blowing a horn in a seated wicker tree house. In a complete piece would be a dog chases a rabbit. And a small person tied by the wrists suspended from the tree house. Also would be a bunch of grapes hanging from his neck, and a bird sitting on top of the hut. Background: A very enigmatic piece with important early Christian significance. According to"Light from the Age of Augustine" The scene follows the Pseudo-Cyprianic treatise De duobus montibus Sina et Sinon, which in a rather loose way interprets biblical passages such as the parable of the vineyard from Matthew 21:33-43 and the song of the vineyards from Isaiah 5:1-7. ... moreIn the interpretation, a guardian is appointed to survey the territory form the opening of a watch-hut. As soon as a robber enters, the guardian makes noise to scare him away. On another level, she writes, the vineyard stands for the spiritual life of the Christian people. The robber represents the devil, who tries to separate humans from the spiritual vineyard. The'tree man' is an image of Christ, who is lifted up on a tree in a watch-hut trying to ward off the evil actions of the wandering devil by sounding the alarm. Another interpretation is that the scene is meant to represent the Dendrites, a community of early Christian ascetics who lived as hermits in bamboo huts constructed in trees and adopted a lifestyle of subsistence. Reference: For examples see Cover Illustration and#51. Page 61, from by Annewies van den Hoek; and also by Constantine Charalampidis. See Cover Illustration and#11, which covers the Dendrite connection in detail. I have many Biblical North African Redware pieces. Contact if interested. Gaurenteed Authentic! Shipping is insured with tracking. International shipping is more please contact first for pricing.

Vintage Japanese redware coralene decorated teapot
Very pretty redware teapot marked Japan. Coralene hand-painted decoration. Holds 4 cups of tea. 5" tall to top of finial. Shows some wear on gold. Has small chip on underside of spout-see photos. Red Dragon Ware Tobacco Jar Humidor Redware Moriage Enamel Japanese? Terracotta
Vintage Dragonware Tobacco Jar Very dirty in most of the tight spots. There are some condition and quality issues. Estate find. Measures approximately 6-1/4” tall and 5-1/4” wide. Weighs 1 pound 10 ounces. I think this is a humidor or tobacco jar. It has the shape and appearance of being one. And the inside of the lid has a hole that I believe is where a sponge is supposed to go. The item is unmarked. I definitely don't know the maker. And my best guess of origin is Japan, but I could be wrong. It is clearly vintage, but I'm not sure exactly how old. Though this material looks like terracotta. I have no idea if it actually is or not. I'm not even sure if this decoration is well described as moriage or not. You all know so much more about this item than I do. I apologize greatly for my ignorance. There are no chips and no cracks ... moreto the actual red material. A blue decoration on the very top of the lid has an approximate 3/16” chip or rough spot. And a green decoration on the top has a 1.5mm pop or crater of sort. You will find a small amount more of these pops and related blemishes to the rest of the decoration. All of the applied decoration has discolored crazing. Three of the lower green beads on the lid are chipped with a few more having bites. There is a chipped green bead to the lower edge of the bottom. And one of the pinkish strands on the bottom piece has a bite to the tip. The red material has quite an evident amount of seemingly permanent darkening throughout. This darkening looks the most blackish to the underside of the bottom piece. All of the tight spots are incredibly dirty. This is much more of an issue to the lid than the bottom piece. The tight spots of the lid are absolutely filthy. Lots of dirt and crud. It’s the sort of dirtiness that I am quite confident will be difficult to clean. You may have to learn to love this item exactly as it is now. The top edge of the bottom piece is worn and dulled from the lid rubbing around. And there are a couple super tiny edge bites. The lid does r

Carmelita Dunlap San Ildefonso Redware Pottery
This is a beautiful incised. Redware pot from famous San Ildefonso Matriarch, Carmelita Dunlap. It is a gorgeous red brown color with an amazing amount of design on it(musical notes, bear, rainbird, fish, waves) It is very large pot and measures an impressive 16 inches wide by 14 inches high! It is breathtaking! It has a few rough spots that look as if she had intended to come back and smooth a bit but it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. I have had two profesionals tell me it would sell in a gallery between 8 or 9 thousand but ebay is where you get a deal so it is very reasonably priced. Carmelita Dunlap was the niece of Maria Martinez. Who is considered the institution of San Ildefonso pottery. Carmelita was born in 1925 and learned pottery making by watching her aunts Maria and Desideria Montoya. She was declared a National ... moreTreasure and won the Indian market 20 times. Vintage Small BROWN BETTY Type Individual Teapot Made In Japan REDWARE
Vintage Small BROWN BETTY Type Individual Teapot Made In Japan REDWARE ATTENTION I ship ALL fragile things PRIORITY MAIL INSURED ONLY which I offer at cost. It is more expensive but worth it for your and my protection as EXPERIENCE has shown this to be the safest way to ship fragile items. If over 10 pounds I generally ship UPS as safest way to go. This is for a vintage brown betty type teapot made in Japan. The body is of Redware and is completely undamaged in any way. It is quite small and holds about 10 ounces when OVERFULL. So would guess this to be an 8 ounce teapot for one. It is would make a nice size for a child it is that small. A real cutie. It is 4" in diameter and 4 1/2" high and 6 1/4" long spout to handle. Thanks for looking and good luck. This ships 2 pounds Priority shipping and the S&H includes insurance. ... moreThere ARE NO charges for packing and wrapping but are always just the shipping charges. If I miss the weight it comes out of MY pocket not yours. People STILL keep hitting me down in on the shipping in feedback which is a mystery to me as I OFTEN ship Priority which is a bit more expensive but on fragile items much more likely to arrive in one piece. THESE COSTS ARE FOR YOUR PROTECTION! Please understand that. This item may weigh out as much as 15 ounces less than the indicated weight BUT the USPS rounds UP the weight to the greatest pound over that additional ounce. This is true whether Priority or Parcel Post- this is NOT my doing. I spend a lot on bubble wrap and am glad to offer it for FREE but am at a loss as to why I am being consistently down rated on the cost of the postage and handling which I have NO control over. International buyers must pay with Pay Pal. Please note that all Internationally shipped packages will go out Priority International shipping with default insurance included with additional coverage over $66 available. This change is due to problems with international shipping. $1.75 is charged as a handling fee to cover cost of shipping materials. All item

Vintage Redware Sgraffito Pottery Skillet Handle Bowl Fish Handmade Primitive
Very nice/attractive vintage redware? pottery bowl/skillet with Mexican/Indian motif. This appears to be a handmade piece with handpainted decoration around the rim of the bowl and what looks like a fish design on the middle of the base of the bowl. Very colorful with green. Blue, white and brown. Clear glaze over the top side of the bowl that streaks down toward the bottom underside of bowl. No major issues that I can tell. There is some light nicks/chipping and no cracks, some flaking which is on the rim with signs of use, but I believe this is quite old and overall this looks great. Very large, measures approx. 12" from handle to end of rim, approx 10" across and is approx 3 1/3" deep. Again, this is a vintage piece so it is not perfect and obviously not new. S&H $11.95

Antique American Southern Redware Vase Spittoon/Cuspidor Incised c.1900's
Hello. And thank you for viewing my listing for a nice redware pottery vase. The shape is somewhat like a spittoon or cuspidor, but it seems a very nice and well made item for a spittoon. Judging from the style and wear on the item, I would date it to the early 1900's. The marks are all incised in the clay and the green rings were painted on after firing. Measurements are 4-3/4" High, 6-3/4" Diameter at the lip, and 7" Diameter at the widest. Please look to my photos for condition. Please write to me if you have any questions BEFORE the listing ends! I spend time to list items accurately and provide customers the information needed to help make an informed decision. However at the end it is your decision. Please view my listings again for interesting pieces of Art, Antiques, and Collectible items! Thank you again, if you ... morechoose to bid! I ship to just about anywhere and welcome International Bidders. Due to the high costs of international postage. Offering fast, tracked and insured shipping is becoming ever more cost-prohibitive, with the shipping sometimes costing many times the value of the item. If the shipping service does not cover Tracking& Insurance then I am unable to guarantee you receiving your item. With that said, I have in the past shipped many items internationally and have had very few problems other than time-delays. You may request other, more expensive shipping options which you must cover, and I will be happy to accommodate you.
