A super fun job! I have always found the tin or metal beautifully pierced with artistic shapes to be a type of folk art. There is no pattern and I would think perhaps each maker had a different way of making his shapes different from other artisans. The wood frame surrounding the metal warmer is work of art as well. The wood looks to me like pine. Carefully examine in photos 1 and 2 the gorgeous turned wood posts and how there is a notch to connect the posts to the frame. Pic. 2 shows the insert into the notch beautifully. There are two sets of holes on top of this frame for the bail handle. I believe one wore out from holding the weight of the coal and wood frame so another hole had to be established. I know tin is the normal metal. but to me it almost feels like a thicker metal. I will let you be the judge. It doesn't really matter. I would imagine the thicker metal would keep the heat in more efficiently. The air needed for the fire and also to release heat are pierced into the top of the metal in lines and then in folk art hearts and circles on the front and two sides. Inside the chamber of the metal box is a metal bin for placing burning coals into the metal box placing it back inside the warmer.pic 3) The box has some rust from holding burning coal over the years. I love the construction because it has a folded flap corner. Delightful! Please be careful with the door that opens the inside coal chamber. It is good shape as you can see from the long hinge. The door has thin rods that hold the door shut to keep some heat in. There is a handle that turns and does not pull. I just want to warn you so that you do not pull and pull and eventually break the door off: I cannot help but think this is a beautiful example of what the perfect foot warmer should

This was purchased many years ago in Lancaster Pennsylvania. The heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, famous for hand crafted wood items. This dolls cradle is 19 1/2" L by 12 2/8" W and it's 13" H. Being a very old piece it shows wear& tear consistent with age. Please view the photos to see the edge& corner wear and runner bottom paint wear. The bottom support hook is formed with a rung that would accommodate the handle of the various cookware put before the flames. Adjacent to this hook is a smaller hook/hasp that would act to fit itself on one of the various forged iron rings. Thus adjusting the size of the trammel and the distance the various kettle/pot would be from the flame; allowing for better temperature regulation. All hand blacksmith made. The wood box with original latch and hardware measures 17" x 6.25" x 3.75" we painted it in white milk paint then distressed and stained it for a well worn look. A reproduction Crosman Bros. advertising ... moreprint was added to the exterior and interior of the box lid. We lined the interior of the box with new angel vine then added a vintage. 3.5" flower pot with that neat earthy white calcium on the exterior. The old, wood handle garden shovel is marked Made In England and retains most of its worn, original green finish. The 3 small ornies are made of stained/distressed muslin and stuffed with sawdust. Each features early Crosman Bros. seed advertisements. Ornies measure 5" x 3.5" ea. As you would expect. The box construction is crude and the wood shows age appropriate wear along with time-worn imperfections. The interior of the box was untouched by our hands and shows honest wear and patina. The box lid does not stay open on its own so if you display the gathering as shown, you will need to prop it against a wall or object. It is circa 1840 and completely made by hand. It has wooden pegs. This chair has exceptionally wonderful finials, what is called in this area a"knobby chair" This chair is made of hickory wood and has its original hand-split splint seat woven by hand. It has two arched slats across the back. The chair is in Old Style Blue Paint which is not old but painted. Oxidized, aged and seemingly authentic. As well as being used as a seat for a child, the wear on the round front and back posts where they have been worn flat shows that this chair was also used for a young child to learn to walk. This is a nice old wood foot stool or make do shelf with traces of old white paint. It has a hole cut out in the center for carrying. The front and the back has a scalloped skirt as seen in the pictures. Primitive Old Wood Sugar Maple Firkin Bucket Gathering Pail Box Old Paint
Up for bids is an old wood maple sugar bucket pail gathering bucket with old thick mustard color paint. It has a make do old wire hanger on the one side near the top rim for hanging. It is constructed with two 3/4" wide metal bands holding eleven slats of wood together. All the slats of wood are notched together. It is in good used condition but looks like someone may have stenciled it at one time on the one side as I have tried to picture. The bottom of the bucket has old red and white paint as seen in the picture.On the sides of the bucket ther are small metal hooks which makes me think it may have had a metal handle at one time.The bucket measures 9 1/2" tall. Primitive Folk Art Sunflower Pillow From Vintage Handquilted Quilt Piece
It's hard to believe spring is here with all the snow we still have on the ground here in Minnesota. But spring weather will be here sooner than we think(I hope) Made with parts of a repurposed vintage handquilted cutter quilt piece, new printed fabrics, tiny new black buttons, old buttons and embroidery thread, this pillow celebrates a primitive summer. I never work from a pattern so no two of my pillows are ever exactly alike. This pillow measures about 8 inches by about 8 inches and would look great on a bench or grouped with larger pillows. The sunflower petals and centers were cut freehand out of new fabric prints. I then attached the finished flower parts by sewing the flower center onto the vintage quilt background with a primitive quilting stitch. The flower stems, leaves and blades of grass were handstitched with embroidery thread. ... moreTwelve teensy new black buttons were hand sewed on to accent the sunflower center on one of the flowers and on the larger flower center I sewed on 7 old buttons. You can see all the vintage handquilting across this pillow which gives it a great primitive look. The background quilt piece has a soft, distressed, aged look to it. The pillow is backed with a plain muslin fabric and closed across the back with a primitive cross stitch and lightly stuffed with polyfill. This item comes from my smoke free home. Antique Primitive Embroidered THE LORD’S PRAYER, Flour Sack, Folk Art
This is a beautiful piece of primitive homespun Folk Art using materials at hand! Someone very neatly and colorfully embroidered THE LORD’S PRAYER on an old Flour Sack. The fabric has Robert C. Jones and Sons and a piece of wheat stamped on it. One picture with a white cloth underneath shows this. Very pale but there! This needlework was meant to be framed. One picture of the whole piece shows the extra cloth is not as large as the embroidered part. The needlework measures 29” x 18” The framed area would be 18” x 16” It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION with no holes. Tears or weak spots. There is one very pale stain in upper left hand corner, which isn’t visible unless you really look for it. It won’t show at all when turned under or covered with a mat when framing. It measures about 5 3/4" high and the opening is about 2 1/2" The widest part is about 6" All measurements approximate. This looked like a utilitarian piece that was used often and not for decorative purposes. The surface is rough and pitted(during manufacture) The roughness around the rim I believe was to keep the lid(not included.I would if I had it) from slipping. There are two hinged lids that flip open to reveal the storage space. Which is all lined. The doors have a bit of padding under the cloth. To hold pins and needles. There are three adjustable hinged hooks covered in velvet. For holding tools. Scissors and thi mbles. The main section has velve t t abs at each end and on e side has a long p ocket of taffeta. Divided into two sections. The composite base board is intact. The brads hammered into the end pieces have been puttied the same color as the light wood. Which is original to t he piece. Condition: Gorgeous collecting or gift-giving condition. The fabric on o n e of the velvet tabs has come undone and shows the raw metal band underneath; and. Antique Primitive Stoneware Salt Glaze Milk Pitcher with Embossed Blue Iris Flower Measures 8 1/4" tall with about a 4 inch opening at the top There is some light overall crazing both inside and outside. There is a crack near the spout that measures an inch long on the outside. It shows as two smaller cracks on the inside. There are several factory imperfections. This great pottery vase is made by Monroe Salt Works in Monroe. Maine. Vase measures about 10" inches high and about 4 1/2" across the top opening. Very natural looking colors and very detailed. Would fit in great in a country, primitive, North Woods, rustic, etc. setting. It looks like there is a crack at the base, but I believe it to be an imperfection in the hand done pottery. Antique Early Primitive Hand Forged Cooking Tongs Folkart
Such a rare unique piece of antique iron. Hand forged with pounded rivet in the hinge. Cutout decorations could be from Pennsylvania? Small tongs used in cooking. Probably outdoor cooking. 13 3/4" in length, 2 1/2" wide at widest part, by the teeth. The teeth appear to be added onto the iron one by one. I tried to show this in the photo. This is a wonderful piece of functional folkart and a work of art in itself. Other than the superficial surface pits, to be expected for it's use and age, this is in remarkable condition. Ohio for years- John Robinson- His work is superb and his lines are great reproductions of pieces. This Bench is 4 foot wide. 6 foot tall and 15" deep. Sides on this bench are angled to look like a"step back" It is painted black over a mustard gold and sanded to reveal some of the gold.there is a wide board at the top with 4 pegs to hang bonnets, aprons, hats, etc. I was able to use it in many places because it is not too deep. Hand Carved Very Primitive Native American Indian Mother and Baby
Don't know much about this piece. They were in an antique shop. The material is a vintage looking Christmas print with flying reindeer and santa. Antique, Primitive RICE MOLD. 2 piece. From KOREA. Wood.
Antique mold with hand carved decorations for embellishing top of rice cakes. Purchased in South Korea. This is a 2 part model in which rice would be spread on one part& the design pressed into individual small cakes with the second part. In total measures 3 7/8 X 11 7/8 inches. Individual cakes would have diameter of 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch. Designs are crude in design: a bird. An insect, geometrics and the 2 larger have Korean characters carved into them. Visable string is what I hung it on the wall with in my homes Song-Nam-Chi& in USA. Decorative detail is beautifully intact. Wood has nice patina; is not broken or cracked.
