GJPaw Auctions is pleased to offer a fine antique Pre-Columbian ceramic blackware stirrup spout Vessel with Figure. From the Chimú culture. Peru. ... moreThe Chimú culture arose around 900 A.D. on the northern coast of Peru in a large adobe city in the Moche Valley. And was conquered by the Incas in 1470 AD. They are best known for their distinctive monochromatic pottery and fine metal work. The main types of Chimú ceramics are small sculptures, manufactured molded and shaped pottery for daily use and those made for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. The pottery is often in the shape of a creature. Or has a human figure sitting or standing on a cuboid bottle. The shiny black finish of most Chimú pottery was achieved by firing the pottery at high temperatures in a closed kiln, which prevented oxygen from reacting with the clay. This beautiful molded stirrup vessel measures 5 inches in width by 4 inches in depth by 7 inches in height(12.7 cm by 10.1 by 17.7 cm) The figure shows wear consistent with use and a Pre-Columbian dating. But generally is in very good condition. It is guaranteed authentic and would make a superb addition to any collection of Pre-Columbian ceramics. GJPaw Auctions has been in the Art business for over 25 years and is now expanding its operation to eBay. Our goal is to bring the same experience and excitement of collecting that we have been delivering in-person to collectors across the Globe at Primitive in Chicago. Every object we sell online has been carefully hand-selected with special attention to detail. Quality, and significance. We ship worldwide. Here is a Mayan eccentric or exotic from the Yucatan Peninsula of South America. These items were thought to have been used as an offering to the underworld ... moregods asking their premission to enter their underworld domain(a cave) The Maya could then ask a blessing or maybe advice on some delima they were facing. Pre-Columbian group of 3, yes, 3 Peruvian pieces. Guaranteed .Authentic
3 Peruvian pieces. The first. A seated figure is 6-3/4" tall, with a red burnished slip. The broken off spout would add about 1-3/4" more. The spout part is not complete. Apparently missing the very top part. The figure is broken and reglued as the photos show. Had I the time I'd enjoy restoring it. But that must be left for the next owner. The second. A low flattened bowl about 5" x 3 3/8" appears to have no restoration other than a very small rim chip reglued and a breaking wave design incised around the top and dark brown burnished surface. The third has a globular body with a tall. Thick spout with linear designs and many small, circular incisions. Height is approximately 5-1/4" and about 4" wide. The first bowl is late Mochica; and I'm afraid there isn't enough information to know the cultures ... moreof the second two. The Lands Beyond is a 45 year old brick and mortar Pre-Columbian gallery. Pre Columbian Pottery Statue of a Priest, Age Unknown
Up for sale is a pre-Columbian pottery statue figure of perhaps a Mayan priest(though the breasts look like a woman) with an ornate shield. The piece is about 10-10.5" tall and very detailed- especially head and facial features. I am not sure about the age- possibly authentic or an older reproduction! The statue is in very good overall condition except for a small repair to the left hand(the one waving) Shipping is $15.95 within the continental US. Private Seller. No Returns Please.
Pre-Columbian Pottery Incense Burner, Hand-Painted, Nice Earthy Tones
Up for sale is a pre-Columbian. Hand-painted incense burner. The piece is about 10-10.5" tall and very detailed- especially head and facial features. I am not sure about the age but it is most likely a reproduction- possibly an older one. The burner displays extremely well and better than in the pictures! It does have a condition issue on the inside where a small piece is missing and some incense remains. Shipping is $10.95 within the continental US. Private Seller. No Returns Please.

Fantastic Pre-Columbian Brooch by Annette Nancarrow on Custom Stand ~ Important!
Fantastic Pre-Columbian Brooch by Annette Nancarrow on Custom Stand This is a large brooch made from what is possibly a couple of pre-Columbian pot shards mounted on a custom brass plate that has a brooch pin as well as a belt hook. This piece is signed by the artist and jewelry maker Annette Nancarrow. Who was born in New York City, yet while living in Mexico she became acquainted with the likes of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Jose Clemente Orozco. A website dedicated to Nancarrow states that" Nancarrow was… a jewelry designer. She had studied archeology. Which became an inspiration for her designs. Her jewelry was exhibited at MoMA in a show that featured painters and jewelry designers including Calder and Dali. Her jewelry was collected and worn by Frida Kahlo, Elena Rubenstein, Peggy Guggenheim, Elizabeth Arden, Anais Nin, Dorothy ... moreMiller, Mrs. Harry Abrams, and Helen O’Gorman, and sold at Henri Bendel in New York City. This piece of jewelry is a work of art with what seems to be two massive and impressive pot shards glued together showing a man with ear spools and feather headdress above which there is a scene with pyramid and temple. This piece is mounted on a custom metal stand for display and that holds it up for display, especially when it is so large that it could not possibly be worn as a brooch. This brooch measures 4 1/2" X 3 1/4" and is up to 1" thick. This piece comes from the collection of Norman Lane. Who dealt in Pre-Columbian artifacts and who collected modern art as well. Norman was also a modern artist himself and much of his art collection was donated to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, in Eugene. Please email me with any questions. Meramec Valley Artifacts Mayan Diety pottery head This is the real deal Authentic Mayan artifact He is sweet! Rare collectible artifact Tikal was the capital of a conquest state that became one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya. 3] Though monumental architecture at the site dates back as far as the 4th century BC. Tikal reached its apogee during the Classic Period. Ca. 200 to 900 AD. During this time, the city dominated much of the Maya region politically, economically, and militarily, while interacting with areas throughout Mesoamerica such as the great metropolis of Teotihuacan in the distant Valley of Mexico. There is evidence that Tikal was conquered by Teotihuacan in the 4th century AD. 4] Following the end of the Late Classic Period. Impressions made of Pre-Columbian Period folk art, "Greeting from the Phoenix"
Greetings from the Phoenix Folk art piece. To be honest. I have no clue, what I am looking at. I have been researching the web for the longest time but cannot come up with a clue of what exactly I am selling. Therefor I do my best of describing, but the pictures will give you teh best impression. You are looking at a Folk Art reproduction, I assume, of pre-columbien mexican seals, etc. The imprints are glued to a larger piece of paper for presentation. It was called"Greetings from the Phoenix" and was located 1514 Wisconsin Ave, N.W. Washington 7, D.C. Any information on these items(I have a few more in my auction) would be great. I will trhough ... moreout a crazy price. But it might actually be a crazyly cheap price for the one who knows. All transactions after Saturday. Copy of a Pre Columbian Red Terra Cotta Pot Bird with Handle - 1010
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This handsome red terra cotta clay bird is a reproduction of early Pre-Columbian pottery. It is similar in its simplicity. Shape and color to pieces I have found from Colima. The bird is embellished with strokes of black and white to represent the wings and a more contemporary Mexican flower design on the breast of the bird. This leads me to believe that it was made for the tourist crowd in Mexico. Never the less it is a beautiful graceful piece. It measures 12 ½ inches from the head of the bird to end of the handle on the bird. It stands 10 ½ inches tall and 7 inches wide. The opening is 3 ½ inches round. No chips, cracks or flea bites.
