PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY WHISTLE ECUADOR AUTHENTIC This is a large authentic Pre Columbian pottery. Terra cotta, whistle/ ocarina from ecuador. Jamacoaque ... morefrom a private collection dating 350 B C- 1200 A D. This is not a reprodution. The front has a human head on what sems to be the front of a jaguar with paw feet. It tapers to a rounded point and has a handle. The face has excellent detail with deep set eyes with brow ridges, earrings, very prominent nose ring and an open mouth with pointed teeth. The teeth give it a rather frightening appearance no doubt intentional. The nose is not damaged but obscured by the thick nose ring that hangs down onto the top lip. The head with a headdress and side lappets. There is a hole at the back end and one in back of the head. The body is clear but I believe there is still debris in the head as IT WILL NOT TWEET. I did not want to try to dislodge debris and damage the holes. It measures 4 1/2 inches long and approx 4 1/4 inches high and rests on two paw feet. Clay color is a buff color not quite as dark as in the photos. I am saying Jamacoaque but it was in with Jamacoaque and also La Tolita fragments and I am not an expert. It is in very good condition with some chips to the side lappets that are not evident from the front but I have the damage pictured. I see evidence of an old repair or restoration on the front legs as there is a thin line that extends over to the back(see photos) However. I do not see evidence of a clean break all around and I do not see any type of glue in the lines. The clay color is very consisent and the restoration or repair was done a long time ago in Ecuador and not by the private collector who brought them back years ago. There seems to be no evidence of trying to hide the breaks unless they were cracks and the piece was not broken or separated. Other pieces in the collection had repairs and evidence of glue and some of these are in my other listings. I have close up photos of the lines or breaks that i have darkened a bit in the photos to show

PRE-COLUMBIAN TRIGONOLITHE ZEMI TAINO STONE THREE POINTER TRIGONOLITO Country: Dominican Republic(Hispaniola) Culture: Taino Period: 1000- 1400 A.D. Dimensions: ... more7-1/2" L x 3" W x 6" H(19 x 7.7 x 15.2 cm) Weight: 5 lbs. 5 oz. 2 kg. 406 gm. Description: A Taino Zemi Three pointer made of Diorite stone. The trigonolithe has the classic three points with an anthropomorphic face on one side with bent arms underneath and incised design on sides and on the reverse side. Provenance: Ex. Smith collection; presently private collection. New York, N.Y. Taino culture flourished in the Caribbean between c.1200-1500. The arrival of the Spanish in 1492 resulted in its rapid decline but objects such as this striking trigonolitos. Also known as a three-pointer, testify to high levels of craftsmanship. The Taino left no written language so our knowledge about them derives solely from archaeology and the testimonials of the Spanish settlers. As a result, although significant numbers of three-pointers survive, their precise function within Taino society is unclear. The central cone of these triangular objects has been interpreted in a variety of ways. Suggestions include manioc shoots(one of the main crops of the Taino) volcanoes, the roofs of Taino houses, phalluses and the human breast. None of these theories has been universally accepted and the precise origins of the shape are likely to remain a mystery. Despite this many scholars agree that these ceremonial objects were symbols of power and fertility. This seems to be supported by a letter written by Columbus in which he reports on his findings among the Taino, Equally the majority of caciques(chiefs) have three stones to which they and their people have great devotion. One they say is for the fertility of the grain and vegetables that they grow; the next for mothers to give birth without pain, and the third for the water and sun when they have need. Three-pointers were made in various sizes and have a long history that predates the Taino fluorescence. Small examp

Pre-Columbian Replica Pottery Mayan Priest Figure/Statue w Headdress Bowl-Mexico
Pre-Columbian Replica Pottery Mayan Priest Figure/Statue w Headdress Bowl-Mexico Up for sale is Pre-Columbian replica pottery statue figure of perhaps a Mayan priest(though the breasts look like a woman) with an ornate headdress that is fashioned into a bowl. The piece is 10.5" tall and the bowl is 6.5" in diameter. My guess is that this is Mexican pottery. I purchased this at an estate auction and am uncertain of its age. Pre-Columbian Jade Beads Mayan green 15.5" CEREMONIAL necklace 100% Authentic!
This beautiful artifact. Ceremonial necklace was brought in to my store on consignment recently. It is the certainly the most exquisite example of Pre-Columbian Mayan Jade I have ever seen. The color is consistent throughout all beads, a beautiful marbled green with some blueish undertones. My client, a native of Guatemala, is a long time(50+ years) collector of South American artifacts, and has several museum quality pieces. This piece was passed down from her father, also a collector and one time museum curator. The overall length is about 15.5" The largest ax focal bead is about 1 3/8" long, and 1 1/8" wide and 1/4" thick. The Roundell beads graduate from about 3/8 to 3/4" across. I've taken a few photos with a tape measure in it for size reference. There are 45 beads in total. The beads have been strung on ... moresilk ribbon. Compare this to any other bead or necklace set on ebay, or anywhere else) and you'll agree, this is truly a incredible item. I will ship ONLY within the USA. Fully insured.

Pre-Columbian Clay Head of Aztec Burial Piece
Pre-Columbian Head of Aztec Here we go. I bought this head in the early 1970s from New England Rare Coin Gallery. I think I paid $25 or $29. So. I had this thing now for over 35 years now. Wife hates it, but I had this thing longer than my wife! This stands 33mm tall. And its width is 35mm. I tried mounting it once using hot glue, remnants remain. I painted it gold many moons ago. In addition, I filed the side of its head(see photo with horizontal file scrape marks) So, this head is no longer a spring chick. However, it is kosher and not the modern junk you find today listed elsewhere. I don't know if this head represents Aztec, but his profile sure resembles one. But then again, it looks like a cat, too. You figure. Small CLAY HEAD with Torso Figural pre Columbian molded ARTIFACT See***
Here is a small ceramic artifact. From an old private collection. This collection has been in the US from 1962. And we are proud to be offering this item for sale, at this time. Measures: Under 2 inches in height. And just over 1. 60 inches at its w idest part. We think it comes from an area of Mexico. Like Colima. Or Nayarit state, but with the turban, wrapped on his head. We may be looking at an early Clay arti fact from Southeast or South Asia. In fact. So the exact origin of this small piece is unknown. But something about the Ear plugs. And small bo w( BIT of jewellry) at the neck. Makes us gravitate towards Asia in its origin. We are quite sure it is pre Columbi an in age. In other words, at least 700 years old, or much earlier. May easily date to the BC period. But we have not had it scientifically tested. these wer e most freque ntly ... morediscove red in groupings. And people used to collect them. Most are in Public Museums, on di splay. Some ar e still floating about. In private collections. A rare find, and adorable. Should be mounted for a nicer display. Happy to take it back. I f you do not love it. SAD to let it go. But that's just how it is. Happy Springtime and finding, and Thank you, for looking. And your consideration. Sati s faction Guaranteed.

Pre-Columbian - Chupicuaro brownware
This elegant Chupicuaro burnished earthenware or brownware pottery bowl has an oval shape with lugs at each long end. Possibly serving as handles. The convex bottom rises to a deep waist with a very pleasant incised design of impressionistic mountains encircling the extended middle, and is topped by a wide, flared rim. The bottom and one side are darkened, either through the pit firing process or by use over a fire. The Chupicuaro started pottery production with their fine brownware and this is an excellent example of their mastery of that art form. Chupícuaro ceramics were all formed by hand without the use of a potting wheel. Estimated age of 500 BCE- 300 CE. Dimensions: 6” x 6” at the widest points, 5 ½” x 4 ½” at the opening. 2 ½” high in the middle, 3” high at the lug ends. Condition: The condition of this bowl is ... moregood with four chips in the rim, one rather noticeable chip and one very minor chip on the extended middle. There are also root marks and some mineral deposition, which are normal and indicative of its age. Please note that despite appearances the end lugs are in original condition and undamaged. Provenance- This item was recently purchased from the estate of the late Willis Pratt, a career academic at the University of Texas in Austin. Dr. Pratt owned a residence in Guanajuato and frequently visited Central Mexico between the mid 1930’s and mid 1960’s. During this period he amassed a fine collection of many pre-Columbian artifacts which he kept and displayed in his home in Austin. Guaranteed authentic.

Taino Bird-like Cemi Body Stamp, Pre Columbian
Measurement: 8.6cm(3 7/16" Date: AD1.000-AD1400. Made of a translucent marble. The design elements include the overall bird motif on the front, a face incorporated into the beak, swirl bird heads as wings, eye surrounds, and twin bird heads on top of head. The reverse side has 4 triangular panels that probably represent the sacred 4 directions, north, south, east, and west. Taino 3 Pointer Type Ancestral Head, Pre Columbian
Measures: Length 14.8cm(5 7/8" Height 8.3 cm(3 2/8" Date: AD1.000-AD1,500. The stone on this piece is beautiful, a creamy grey-green background with dark linear banding, quite striking. I believe the stone is a serpentine variation. Similar to the familiar 3 pointed zemis this is an ancestral head sculpture, used for consultation with the Taino forefathers. There are ear spools at the sides of the head that attach to a headband surrounding the back of the head. The base is slightly concave and dimpled. Posted with
Taino Snuffing Vessel Pendant AD1,000-AD1,500. Pre Columbian
Measures Length 6.7 cm(2 5/8" Made of manatee bone. This rather small cohoba snuffing vessel has engraved head. Legs and feet surrounding the snuffing depression. On the back side another creature is engraved depicting face and legs. The eyes are conically drilled to allow the pendant to be hung. The designs are a little worn and not as visible in the photos as when hand held. These small vessels were probably dosing devices used to maintain the cohoba high. Posted with
Taino Frog-Man Cohoba Snuffer Pre Columbian
Measures Length. 7.1cm(2 13/16" Diameter( top of head to base 3.3cm(1 5/16" Stone( light grey- green) AD 1.000-AD1500. All snuffing holes connect and were conically drilled. Geometric bands surround the 2 top inhaling ports. Though a rather simple design, this cohoba snuffer was used in ceremonial gatherings to ingest the powerful hallucinogen cohoba. The representation of a frog-man likely suggests this was used for fertility. Frogs symbolized the spring, planting, and the rainy season. Posted with

2 Antique Clay figures Man & Woman, Nayarit ?. Pre Columbian Pottery Very Old
These two figures were bought at an Estate Sale from a very Important Oregon Artist who loved Mexico. These were in his private collection and appear to be artifacts from a dig done decades ago or maybe even much longer ago. They could be hundreds of years old or thousands. I am no expert so I just don't know. They loose a little dust every time they are handled so I was very careful in photographing them. Please ask questions before bidding if you are not sure. I am no expert, just know that these appear to be a red clay and as you can see from the photographs some of the areas of each figure are worn off and a dust comes off of them when handled because they are so old. I have never had anything this old so will pack very gently when shipping them to you and if you have any special shipping instructions I will do my best to comply.

COLIMA, Mexico Pre Columbian Pottery Male Figure with Skin Lesions 400-800 A. D.
This is a primitive piece of pottery made in Colima. Mexico circa 400-800 A.D. It is mounted on a wooden pedestal that gives the information about the piece and the back is an advertisement for Valisone Cream. This looks prehistoric and I believe it to be an authentic piece. The ad had me concerned, but the owner of this piece is a retired Archaeologist, so I now feel comfortable again calling this pottery piece an authentic primitive piece from Colima, Mexico. It measures 2.75" x 4.5" and is in great condition. See pictures for details and please contact me with any questions. 1150 14th#18
