GJPaw Auctions is pleased to offer a fine antique Pre-Columbian ceramic blackware stirrup spout Vessel with Figure. From the Chimú culture. Peru. ... moreThe Chimú culture arose around 900 A.D. on the northern coast of Peru in a large adobe city in the Moche Valley. And was conquered by the Incas in 1470 AD. They are best known for their distinctive monochromatic pottery and fine metal work. The main types of Chimú ceramics are small sculptures, manufactured molded and shaped pottery for daily use and those made for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. The pottery is often in the shape of a creature. Or has a human figure sitting or standing on a cuboid bottle. The shiny black finish of most Chimú pottery was achieved by firing the pottery at high temperatures in a closed kiln, which prevented oxygen from reacting with the clay. This beautiful molded stirrup vessel measures 5 inches in width by 4 inches in depth by 7 inches in height(12.7 cm by 10.1 by 17.7 cm) The figure shows wear consistent with use and a Pre-Columbian dating. But generally is in very good condition. It is guaranteed authentic and would make a superb addition to any collection of Pre-Columbian ceramics. GJPaw Auctions has been in the Art business for over 25 years and is now expanding its operation to eBay. Our goal is to bring the same experience and excitement of collecting that we have been delivering in-person to collectors across the Globe at Primitive in Chicago. Every object we sell online has been carefully hand-selected with special attention to detail. Quality, and significance. We ship worldwide. Gold Plated Pre-Columbian Museum Replica Muisca Tunjo Head Face Pendant, Pin, RC
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE HELLO& Thanks for looking! Before you buy. PLEASE read my description thoroughly, and calculate postage, so there are no surprises. I usually don’t require immediate payment in case of bundled multiple purchases. But I APPRECIATE QUICK PAYMENT. + Please don’t be afraid to make an offer. My settings will either automatically accept OR reject the offer. I don’t even see rejected offers(unless they include buyer terms) DESCRIPTION: Here is a great little pendant. Or it can be a pin/brooch, that has a fun history, in addition to being a replica or reproduction of a pre-Columbian artifact. Sort of like a gold nugget in feel and appearance. The man who sold me this pendant/pin says it was tested and is 10k gold plated. I'm not sure what the underlying metals are. It weighs 12 grams. He purchased ... morethis for a rather large sum of money as it was part of an auction lot. And he and some other bidders hoped the little head was solid gold. Well, turns out it wasn't, but as I said, he had it tested and said it is 10k gold plated and it certainly has the appearance of gold. The face or head represented in this replica/reproduction is from the pre-Columbian culture of the Muisca and is based on that culture's metal artifacts called Tunjos. A tunjo was an offering to the gods and often represented a man. Woman or animal. Many of the original tunjos were of real gold of course and are featured in the Museo del Oro, a gold museum in Bogota, Colombia, and also in other museums throughout the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Just Google"Muisca tunjo" for more information. The back of the piece is marked rc. I have seen MMA reproduction jewelry marked rc. But usually along with the MMA mark. This is only marked rc, so I'm not sure it is a Metropolitan reproduction, but it could be. Or possibly from some other museum's offerings in conjunction with an exhibit. The man who sold me the piece said that the auctioneer who sold it to him was quite the

I only ship to the US. All items sold"AS IS" No returns. No refunds. PAY BY SATURDAY AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO SHIP ON MONDAY. My uncle always told me he had a substantial Pre-Columbian pottery collection. When he passed. I found a LOT of pottery in his house and brought most of it home with me. I am listing a few pieces weekly. He was very interested and educated in the various cultures and was fascinated with the artifacts they left behind. He traveled to South America twice a year from the 1960s-1990s and visited many ruins and historical sites– that’s about 40 years of collecting. He had very close friends in South America. I will be totally honest and say that I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PRE-COLUMBIAN POTTERY. He purchased many pieces from professional auction houses and many still have stickers on them from the auctions. If ... morethere is any paperwork with an item. I will include pictures of the paperwork. THE PICTURES SHOW EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT THE POTTERY. Please review the pictures carefully when deciding to bid. NOTE: I will take close-up pics of anything I think is a flaw(a crack. A chip, a broken piece, etc. There is a crack on the neck that looks like it has been repaired as shown in the picture. Panama - Large Pre-Columbian Neolithic Celt from Madden Lake in Central Panama
Large Pre-Columbian Neolithic Celt from Madden Lake in Central Panama This item is a large Pre-Columbian Neolithic Celt from the Madden Lake region of Central Panama. This artifact is a surface find from the shore of Madden Lake when it was at its lowest level at the end of the dry season. This artifact was found by George Chevalier who lived on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal Zone. George hunted for artifacts only in the American jurisdiction of the former Panama Canal Zone. This artifact has the letters" C. Z. M. L. which identify the artifacts as" Canal Zone Madden Lake" and an identification mark" R C S" indicating the approximate location of the surface find. This celt is larger than most of the other celts found in this region. It fills an adult hand when it is held. One end tapers to a rough point to make ... moreit easy to hold in a hand. The other end terminates in a sharp and smoothly polished edge for cutting. There is one small area on one side of the cutting edge that has a small shallow chip. I think that this is due to a small inclusion in the stone material. It does not affect the cutting edge function. The material appears to be a weathered form of volcanic rock. Probably a metamorphic form of Basalt. George Chevalier lived on the Pacific side of the former Panama Canal Zone until he retired and moved to the USA. He was on the same Balboa High School swimming team as my father. George used to hunt for artifacts along the Las Cruces Trail and on the shore of Madden Lake. George usually looked for Spanish artifacts. But one day, he found a small stone ax and brought it home to show to his sister who lived with him. She liked the stone ax and asked George to bring home any others that he found. Over the years, he found dozens of artifacts for his sister and these artifacts are part of the Chevalier collection. All of these artifacts were collected in the American Canal Zone in the 1950s- 1970s and prior to when the territory was ceded back to Panama(1999) I brought several of t

Exceptionally pre columbian stirrup vessel Moche Chimu with T.L. test!!!
A special stirrup vessel in a special form four roundish bodies. Probably fruits. They are interconnected and form a uniform rectangular shape similar to the Andean cross. The vessel is painted with very fine patterns. Such as water symbols in the form of meanders. The spout is held by a small monkey. Which is also working very fine. Discoloration. Abrasions, minor missing parts, in a good age related condition. A wonderful collector's item. And by his rare form a small rarity! It is often said that the quality of the Chimu Moche had never reached. But here not only the strong influence can be seen. The great reaction. Which is nothing after the Moche. Antique Granite Pre-Columbian Figure Neolithic Period
Antique Granite Pre-Columbian Figure Neolithic Period Offering a pre-Columbian figure that appears to be made of unpolished granite/hardstone. Which is found deep in the earth's mantle, and is a very hard, resistant stone made of crystallized minerals. The black in the stone figure is black granite mixed with brown granite; granite also comes in pink and grey. Because granite is hard, ancient peoples used it to carve statues, the Egyptians, especially, to last a very long time. Several small figures have been found during archaeological excavations of the Neolithic Period. Some archaeologists believe they were intended to represent goddesses, while others believe that they could have served some other purpose. These figures predate, by many thousands of years, the available records of goddesses and seem to all conform to the same generic ... moretype of mother goddesses associated with the agricultural cycle and its seasonal progressions. This figure appears to be associated with the season of harvesting, hence the carrying of farm food on the woman's back. These archaeological figures have been found in France, Scotland and England. The Neolithic(New Stone Age) was a period in the technological development of Homo Sapiens that began at the end of the Ice Age, 10,000 years ago and ended around the Mediterranean Sea and other areas about 5,000 years ago, when the Bronze Age began. Neolithic clay-like figures reproduced both animal and human forms. In many cases, human figures represented gods or goddesses. The Neolithic Period was before metal was used such as copper. Before the metal age, all tools, utilitarian items, jewelry and figures were made of stone. We do not know where this figure originated. The figure may have been sold at an excavation site. This is a common practice, especially in South America. The stone figure would be classified as a Pre-Columbian artifact. We see no damage to the piece. The dimensions are 6 inches in height and 4 inches in width. weighs 3 pound 9 oz. Return Policy and our Guarante

BRONZE PERUVIAN FERTILITY AMULETS POSSIBLY PRE-COLUMBIAN
These fertility symbols came from an old trader in New Mexico during the later 80's. Apparently he had owned them for a long time. Two of the similar and smaller ones have more of a patina and are slightly duller than the rest. They are pre-Columbian in appearance. But because I am not an expert, thus the term'possibly pre-Columbian, as I did find similar antiquities using that phrase while researching them.
Pre Columbian Taino Classic tri-pointed stone Zemi
This is one of the rarest specimens ever recorded in the Caribbean of an early classic Taino era three-pointed zemi. It is finely polished including the base and the cavities of the mouth and eyes in green jadeite or serpentine stone. The stylized facial features with socket eyes, flattened nose and wide open mouth and wearing a nobility ornament headband consists in geometric designs, the opposite projection carved with pectoral amphibian designs. The central elevated having a large conical shaped point, situated directly opposite from the center of the base, the large of side ears suggests a representation of a deity from the underworld or“Yucahu” face, Sham mantic night rituals. Circa 900-1200 A.D. Measure: 6 ½ inches long and 7 inches high.

PAIR OF FIRED CLAY PRE COLUMBIAN {REPRODUCTIONS??} WITH LARGE HEADS
This pair of statues I recently obtained at an estate auction. Included in the auction were dozens of pieces of stone work and pre-Columbian clay figures collected by the owner over his lifetime. I do not have any knowledge of the origin. Use, or age of the pieces I have listed, and neither did the auctioneer} I bid on them solely because I liked the way they looked. So for purposes of THIS SALE, what you see is what you get, WITHOUT any guarantee on origin, age, use, or provenance. I personally believe these two pieces to be reproduction. But when? They are very decorative, colorful, and interesting. Each measures a little over 7" tall and about 4 1/4" wide at the shoulders. One of these weighs 1.4 ounces and the other 1.6 ounces. They appear to be female. The large bulbous head and carved faces are pretty interesting. The auctioneer ... morereferred to them as"aliens" I am wondering what the hole in the back of the heads is all about. Please see all the photos and read this complete description. Both are considered a full disclosure of condition. Shipping will be FREE to the lower 48 U.S. States only via USPS Standard post with tracking. Thank you for looking! You may want to also see some of the other pieces I have listed.

IL in the 1990's. Unfortunately the head and left arm were broken off and lost.

Pre-Columbian Jalisco Tray, approx. 1000 AD
6" X 6.5" shallow bowl or tray resting on three ball-like legs. Perhaps used ritually. The legs have small pellets in them that rattle when the piece is gently shaken. There is a circular criss-cross pattern incised on the bottom and that is surrounded by a band painted in white slip, some of the design still visible; there is also some white slip applied to the outside. The body of the vessel is a red slip ground. When purchased, there was a tag attached stating it is from Teocaltiche, Jalisco.
